Hello, everyone. Contrary to my worries, the ducks feel just fine and on the second day they set off to explore new territory and, of course, a new pond.
But with hens today almost there were an accident - they were attacked by a hawk. Fortunately, I was near and saw how he dived into the bush where the hens were sitting. I immediately rushed there and managed to drive away the predator before it caused any harm to the hens.
After that, my wife and I started unscheduled protection of our birds.
We hung a rope and the net on it to cover the hens from the air.
We also covered the bush where the hawk dived, and the children even hung a sign there. Of course, it's a bit from another opera, but it will go.
I hope the incident doesn't happen again, otherwise I'll have to get some weapons, because I only have axes on my farm, and they're not very good for hunting hawks.
Hawks are a definite pain. Growing up we had Coopers hawks that would steal chickens. A couple of them were disposed of but most would move on as there were a bunch of the neighbors who had chickens as well. We have bald eagles that nest atop the hill above the coop but they never get any of our birds.

Hawks are an ever present danger here to our birds. Those nets will work, until winter. Once a hawk finds a food source they won't leave until they are sure there's no way to get it. We once had to lock our birds in the coop for 3 days until a tiny Cooper's hawk moved on.
how do you fight hawks, besides closing chickens?
Here's posts I did about that:
