Hello all ... an Introduction

I finally decided to jump into these waters ... It's about time that I introduce myself ...

I'm Jocelyn ... a homeschooling/unschooling mama to 3, published author, teaching artist, expressive arts therapist/intermodal, artist, poet, EFT practitioner, and all around holistic person ...

In the summer of 2021 I started working on a multi media book about grief ... Then in September of 2021, both of my parents died 7 days apart in the hospital of Covid (technically I would argue the hospital killed my mom and my dad died of a broken heart, but that's a story for another day) ... well ... things have been trying to fit themselves back into places ever since then, literally and figuratively as we lived with them ... I normally wouldn't say all that in an introduction ... But it seems to be always in front of me ... not necessarily breaking me down ... but present with me ...

So ... I'm in a re-imagining phase ... Figuring out who I am again ... without the cloak of safety and limitations my parents afforded me ... Still working on my book on Grief ... but it's changed a bit since it's inception ... and I have another novel in me that wants to be given it's time ...

I also teach a lot of creative writing classes for kids and teens ... it keeps my pen on the page and I get so inspired by watching a young person break through their inner critics penetrating eye ...

I'm vegan ... as is my whole family, we are very holistic and my newest adventure is with an ao scan ... and learning how to tap into quantum physics to heal the body, mind and heart ...

My kids are amazing ... though they do try to take me down on a daily basis ... HA!

hmmm ... life right now seems simple and complicated all at once ... but I'm lean into the simpler side for the most part ... coffee, chocolate, beer and wine ... a good salad, music from the 90's, room to breathe ... comfort.

So ... with that ... Hello <3

Hello Jocelyn aka @rebelarts! I saw your post thanks to a reblog by @whylibertarian (and then realized he's now primarily using his @matt-archy account, so thanks for inadvertently letting me know to switch follows...lol).

Beautiful, if bittersweet, introduction - I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your parents, and I understand what you mean. I lost my dad 20 years ago, and there are still times it almost feels like it's right there in front of me and colors my world.

I'm also a (former) homeschooling momma to three - the only reason I stopped is because they're all in their twenties now. 😂 It's kinda wild how much I feel I have in common with you - substitute a good stew for a good salad, go back a decade music-wise, and I'm right there with you! Our youngest even shares your first name as her middle (although we spell it Joslyn).

Glad to see you made your way here, and you'll likely get a welcome message from the Love Sniper initiative (I'm part of the team, but it's not my turn today, so the reblog was especially fortuitous), which should help you find your way. However, please feel free to shout out to me if you have any questions. And with that - hello right back atcha! 😊

Thank you!

Yes ... I don't think the grief ever leaves ... at least I don't anticipate it leaving ... I might actually be sad if it did ... like they weren't here at all anymore ...

I love the homeschooling mama veterans!! Our oldest is 12 right now ... so it seems like a lot of years to 20 but I know it goes by in a flash ...

LOVE.

and I def listen to the 80's as well Ha! so I'm there with you on that too <3

You are very welcome @rebelarts! First of all, please receive my embrace in this moment of your life. I hope you have all the support you need right now to lean on 🙏

To happier thoughts, that was a very nice intro post!! 🤗 I've got a real sense of who you are as a person and I see you're very creative and deeply in touch with your emotions as well.

Here on Hive you have the opportunity to express yourself freely as well as to share your art. Like myself figured out quite recently, as I've been around for a month, that this is a judgement free platform and you'll be surprised by how much love and support you can find here 😁

Really hope you enjoy your time here. I believe one of the most importat things is just to have fun! The rest will follow as you will see it written many times on "guide posts". I'll leave you here some more useful posts that can help you to get familiar of this amazing world.

Welcome to the Hive community @rebelarts!
We sincerely hope you find everything you are looking for and have found a new home here.

Seven suggestions to consider:

  1. Guard your passwords carefully, and publish and do everything except Wallet with the Posting key
  2. Use your Active key only for wallet transactions, Keychain, Hivesigner, and Peaklock,
  3. The Owner key and the Master password are only used to reset compromised passwords,
  4. DO NOT lose your passwords; but copy and store them offline in a safe place,
  5. Do not publish other people's work, be it photos or written, without credit, and be sure to source all of your work, even if it is your own.
  6. An introduceyourself tag is used only once, and
  7. Do Not click on any links in memos or comments that you do not know who they belong to. If it sounds too good to be true it probably is, so the old saying goes. There is nothing free here.

I found you because @brittandjosie and @jamerussell from @heyhaveyamet presented and promoted your publication to get more exposure and help you grow faster.

If you find yourself overwhelmed and need some guidance, or if you have any questions, there are informed Hiveans available who can help you; you can click to go to The Terminal in Discord here:

Have fun and happy Hiving!

Thank you for the suggestions ... I'll def be learning as I go!

hi Jocelyn❣️ So lovely to have you on board (thank you for the tag @blackdaisyft 😊). I am truly sorry for your loss. It's an unimaginable heartache. I lost my mom nearly 3 years ago, but somedays it feels like yesterday. I am sure that you will find your way on Hive and make a nice cosy home for yourself here. The community is really lovely and I see you have already been visited by some aaaaaaaaaaaaaawesome peeps. Definitely go and visit James and Kitty in the Terminal, and especially on discord. The team there is lovely. This was a lovely intro post and I am intrigued by your journey into veganism and quantum physics. I am vegan myself (Vegetarian from birth and went vegan 5 years ago - I have not looked back on that decision) and my Mom was into holistic medicine and quantum physics 💖Looking forward to following your journey here on Hive. This is not a shill as I put all the Hive earned from contest posts back into the contests ...but if you fancy entering my monthly contest...it ends in a day or two and there is always the opportunity to win delegations and/or tokens to get you started 😊 @consciouscat (Caroline) and @blackdaisyft and I have had a few chats together in the comments over the past month hehe. It's a lovely warm community.

Sam! I'm so glad @blackdaisyfit tagged you. I didn't know you were vegan! Yay! I'm so glad you mentioned this. Double yay.

Oh, and I can totally confirm, @rebelarts that Sam's contests are heaps of fun. I always love being invited to participate when I qualify for whatever (silliness 😅) she's up to 🙌

You are always welcome to participate Caroline hehe ...and yes vegan. My two, almost 9 and 11-year-old, boys are vegetarian, and hubby has gone back to being omnivorous.

Well, good to know! I've been attempting to move towards more whole food plant based for about a month now and it's a process! I have so many foods I react to but I'm determined to heal my gut and heal my immune system so I can eat a wide range of (delicious plant) foods!

You are always welcome to participate Caroline hehe.

and thank you! 🙏😄🙌

Absolutely getting back to basics, stripping things back is a great idea. It all gives the body a chance to cope better. I hope you identify what is causing your issues🙏🙂

I am getting closer to a healthier, happier body every day. I keep finding useful puzzle pieces that seem so obvious and are so helpful! 😃

we cut out gluten and that has been a game-changer for both of my kids!

I also didn't know you where a vegan @samsmith1971! And didn't realize your monthly contests yet 😱 (note to self - how could you miss them??!) but thank you @consciouscat to mention it and giving me the opportunity to check it out better 😁

As I grew up in the country side, it is typical there that our grandmothers and grandfathers had farms, plants, trees and also animals in order to provide food. So I've always eated meat and everything. Growing up with animals always gave me a sense to treat them well and all animals held by my family had proper conditions, food and fresh and clean water, as well as free space outdoors. I know this may not seem very friendly as they still were being killed, but I was also thought that their purpose was to provide food and to be grateful for it and their sacrifice.

In the past 3 or 4 years I've seen some friends or family members go vegetarian or vegan, and I've been trying to reduce meat and introduce more vegetarian or vegan meals into my diet. I'm conscious about the farming industry, CO2 polution to the environment, and some of it's problems regarding animal well-being so I believe we as a world need to reduce our meat comsuption, at the very least.

My intentions, at least for now, are to continue to reduce meat comsuption to 2x/week. For those who still want to consume meat, as I believe it's unrealistic to think everyone will change to a plant-based diet, I think it's very important to ensure farming industry is regulated in a way it provides safety, well-being and health to all animals, and dignity in their death.

Maybe one day I'll feel diferently about meat and also follow a plant-based diet but I still think it will be necessary serious regulation of the farming industry and ensuring animals well-being throught their life spam 🤗.

I hope to add a different point of view to this matter but just wanted to clarify that I respect the choice to change to plant-based diets either for health purposes or animals right's defence! 😊

Kisses to all 😘

It's a very personal choice that only you can make. I respect your informed choices and your obvious love and respect for animals too❣️

Hi, I'm also quite new here on HIVE, and I came across your blog post as it was featured in a #heyhaveyoumet post which was advertised in #theterminal Discord server. I like to check out new people, to return the favour as I, too, had my own #introduceyourself post featured in #HHYM.

"I also teach a lot of creative writing classes for kids and teens"

My wife is keen on creative writing, poetry, and script-writing for the stage.

"I have another novel in me that wants to be given it's time"

I really liked how you worded that. I think I may have a novel in me too, deep inside somewhere. I'm more into sci-fi and fantasy writing though, and have written a little bit of LOTR fan-fiction, just for my own pleasure. Anyway, enjoy your time here on HIVE!

Hi! I totally think you have a novel in you ... we all have stories to tell! My first novel was fantasy based and somewhat sci fi ... and the next one will be in that same world ...

I think even if you don't write creatively ... just writing on a daily basis taps into your stories ... I'd love to check out your writing if you ever post on HIVE :)

Thanks for that. I'm here on the social blockchain on a particular mission this time, I'll be blogging about my big project for 2022, which involves setting up my #homelab for #selfhosting using #YunoHost and #NextCloud. But once that is done and dusted, I may well have a go at some creative writing, myself. Thanks for the encouragement.

welcome to Hive @rebelarts! Your username's interesting, see you around! :)

Thank you! My friend actually came up with the name when I was designing an interactive arts based class on the history of the arts as a medium for change for teens
