Hello Steem World, allow me to introduce myself!

in #introduceyourself5 years ago (edited)

I am sitting here on a late Monday morning, shamelessly enjoying my recent status as a lady of leisure, while my better half is off earning money… and I have a wonderful opportunity to explore this new realm of my reality called Steemit.

I heard about Steem it while listening to a podcast called The Sustainable Living Podcast by Marianne West - who is on Steemit too off course. The episode was called Universal Income - a subject I find quite interesting, but to my surprise, it was not about political experiments in Scandinavia, but about cryptocurrencies and "new" words like Blockchain, Mana and Steemit. Shout out to @Taskmaster4450 who was explaining all these new concepts, and made me investigate immediately, and to @mariannewest for being so enthusiastic!

So here goes. I am already on my second cup of coffee, as making a hot cuppa seems like a great way to procrastinate, when writing can seem so terribly daunting. I should probably be telling you about all the interesting things I will be posting, and how it will enrich your lives and make you smarter - But the truth is, that I am not quite sure yet, how I will be using this blog.
First off, I see this as a place where I can get back into writing again, and practice writing in English. Early last year I got a part-time job that could make ends meet, and it allowed me to delve into the project of starting my own blog - only I got sucked into all the details of graphic design, specs, and planning….and it still only exists "back end". Writing the actual posts was just too hard for me, and I kept going back to finding great looking pictures and thinking about what I could write about, instead of actually writing.

So here I am, trying to write, without the distractions.

My non-existing blog is called Wondergrasp, and I hope I will be able to get that going soon as well. But one thing at a time for now. Wondergrasp is going to be a mix between book recommendations of the non-fiction and "sciency" variety, and my personal musings about the nature of reality and how humans and the universe works. I have a feeling that there might be interesting intersections between the fabric of reality, paranormal experiences, and religion. So some of those interests might bleed over into this platform.

My English writing needs practice, as I am not a native English speaker. I recently moved to England from Denmark to live with my now fiancee(tying the knot this summer). My English is quite good, but I think it is a bit hard to find my voice when writing… I used to be able to play a lot more on my choice of words when writing a Danish travel blog.

A subject that I think I will be writing about is me and my partners quest and plans for a good and meaningful life for us, now and in the future. We would both like to optimize our work-life balance, and ideally just work part-time and maybe spend time working on projects at home - projects that could either supply us with income or reduce our overall expenses. So we are looking into living off-grid, building our own container home, homesteading, and most recently we have been investigating something called One Planet Development in Wales.

So I would like to write about our thoughts and new ideas as they come up, and anything that we might do and learn in the process. We are not really in doing mode yet, as we are still planning a wedding and really need to save a lot more money… we would also like to get the travel bug out of our system before we settle down with 20 chickens and goats to take care of. One of the ideas is to go volunteer and learn about homesteading and permaculture and whatnot as we travel, so it will not be wasted. :) I see several blog posts in the making!!

IMG_5954 (2).JPG

Our 3 little bantam chickens - along with our tiny little garden plot, they are all the homesteading we are practicing at the moment.

After writing this introduction ramble, I think my first post will be about the different little side-hustle ideas I have dabbled in, to try and earn an extra income without leaving the comfort of my home. Some with no success, some with modest results, and one slightly different with some serious earning potential.

Is that a cliffhanger!?! I hope so and will leave you with this for now. Hopefully you are intrigued and want to follow me on "my mission". I am off to explore more of Steemit, I will see you out there!

Welcome to steemit @wondergrasp.

Welcome the new steemians. Have a great day!

Welcome to Steemit! You have taken the first step in achieving many goals here at the crossroads of cryptocurrencies, blockchain, and social media. Consistent engagement is needed to progress and grow your following and influence. I am currently working on a weekly post to curate new users and providing them an introduction to the ecosystem. I have selected your post as one I will feature in an upcoming post! I explain this initiative on one of my previous post.

There are a number of great content creators on the platform to help you on your journey. I have recently ran into a great post by @roleerob that is great to get off to a great start here on the ecosystem. As I continue to expand this initiative, I continue to find great content and guides for new users such as this post from @finnian who not only includes a great step-by-step process of registering for #Steemit but also provides great security and engagement tips as well to help you on your journey. Another great user creating content for new Steemians is @paulag who is creating community backed video series on learning to navigate STEEM.

Keep your eyes out for these tips and references to help you on your journey to becoming a minnow! It is also a great idea to follow some of the great projects being built on the #STEEM blockchain. You can see these projects here. Some of these projects provide you the ability to interact and engage within the community and have the potential to provide rewards for your engagement. For example, @actifit is a fitness app that tracks your daily activity which you can post to the blockchain and earn rewards for your participation. Another interesting project is @steemmonsters which is a digital trading card game that enables you to collect and battle with the community all within the #STEEM ecosystem.

Lastly, a new initiative has just been launched by one of our top witnesses @gtg to support new users that become very active and need additional bandwidth to remain actively engaged in an effort to build enough Steem Power to grow your influence and interaction in the ecosystem. I would highly encourage you to visit his post for further instructions. I wish you the best in your future endeavors!

If you're a fan of Marianne, then man oh man you'll be my friend (pronounced "fran"). Hi, I'm Brendan.

Welcome to the SteemVerse
Marianne is one of my favourite Steemians :D
Nice that you have come to explore and I trust you will enjoy your journey

Welcome to the Steemisphere @wondergrasp! Really enjoyed reading your introductory post.

"I should probably be telling you about all the interesting things I will be posting, and how it will enrich your lives and make you smarter - But the truth is, that I am not quite sure yet, how I will be using this blog."

"First off, I see this as a place where I can get back into writing again, and practice writing in English."

Nice sense of humor! 😉 When I decided to "jump in," it was my first time to be online. I was surprised by how much I enjoyed writing, about whatever comes to mind. And engaging with others. From all over the world!

I suspect you will as well and "settle in" more quickly than you might think.

"My English writing needs practice, as I am not a native English speaker. … I used to be able to play a lot more on my choice of words when writing a Danish travel blog."

You will find a lot of Steemians in the same situation. Most of the time, they make themselves understood well enough. The passion for their chosen topic still comes through.

Some choose to write posts in two languages - English and their native language.

All the best to you in your Steem "journey!" 😊 👍

Congratulations @wondergrasp!
