A small green market today but nothing major.
To me, at the moment, the general trend looks to be going down ever since we hit $20k BTC.
My plan is therefore unchanged. BTC <$6000 is my baseline for buying.
I just wanted to emphasize today that what I write and talk about is about my own investment strategy.
It's based on what I already have.
ZAPPL iOS
There is a huge bug in the Zappl iOS version that came out yesterday.
Read about here.
Don't use the iOS version of the app and if you have please change your keys.
Dtube storage
@pennsif is the user who asked the question about dtube storage. (I forgot the name in my video, my apologies).
Currently dtube stores your videos for 7-30 days.
From the beneficiary rewards, dtube receives through your content 10% goes to pay IPFS for long-term storage.
$0.044 per GB per month.
This is how it currently works, but plans are already in place to change this in the future.
Videos will be stored for much longer. We will be updated about it accordingly.
I would recommend keeping a personal backup of the videos you create for dtube.

Interesting that you have put a buy at under 6000$ for BTC @Exyle
I have been speculating that BTC will drop to under 7000$ for a while now.
But, as far as I can see there is much more interesting to have funds in STEEM and power them up instead. Here you will get value in many forms like interest, curation and votes. All this put together will give a higher rise in value than just speculating in BTC. Or at least that is my opinion :)

Until the MT GOX people run out of coins to dump on the market we will see BTC get slapped down.
What happens to our Steem Power if Steemit.com isn’t the end game. I know the STEEM ecosystem is where the true power lies, but Steem Power is a direct investment into STEEM. If Steemit.com goes away and is replaced by something else, do we still get credit for our STEEM? I’m still confused on how this works. Thanks for the video and post!

Great information about the duration of content on Dtube. I just assumed that content would be up for a long time. Storage is not cheap. Hopefully there is a way to optimize this in the future. It is nice to take a look at the past from time to time.
I have the same plan. Just patiently waiting. And if it doesn’t get there, that’s fine too. I’m happy with my crypto portfolio so far. But it would be nice to be able to shop for nice discount.
This ZAPPL staff is crazy, that’s what I’m afraid of would happen anywhere when it comes to passwords. They first tell you it can’t happen and then they just say “we apologize” and the loses are on you.
Seems like the beginning of the year is not always good for cryptos. The market cap always dips until around mid May or early June, then it starts creeping back up. This has been the trend for the past 3 years. So we should see bitcoin over 20K later in the year. This is a great buying opportunity in my opinion. How far it will drop no one knows. Also remember that the Mt Gox trustee has a total of 200,000 bitcoin;he sold off around 35,000 btc for $400 million fiat, he still has another 165,000 bitcoin to dump. This might drive bitcoin further down, lets wait and see :)

Oh, I didn't know, that dtube is only storing videos for such a short time! I recently searched for a video I watched some weeks ago and couldn't find it - that maybe the reason...
Thanks for the info on DTube, as I was really getting frustrated about the fact that practically none of my previous videos would play. The last video I did stopped working just 24 hours after uploading, and it took me over 4 hours to produce! For this reason I've stopped producing videos there until they can find a way to retain our videos without deleting them.
I'm focusing on publishing to youtube instead for now and posting them as Steemit posts. I hope they can get it working right soon, as I really prefer to upload to DTube rather than Youtube, but its not worth taking the risk to have any more of my content ruined.
Why not both? When dtube just started and videos had trouble playing sometimes I always provided a 'backup' (youtube) link to my videos in the same post.
Its really a bad practice to publish the same content to multiple places on the web, search engines will penalize you for doing so, and they wont tell you either. Google drops the rank of content republished multiple times. I noticed a lot of people do this on DTube, reuploading their entire YouTube video libraries, but its not a bright thing to do.
People need to learn proper SEO practices and how search engines work, otherwise they're just shooting themselves in the foot. Content posted on Steemit is indexed by Google search, and if the content is a duplicate, Google will devalue that content as a whole.
On the other hand, its always a good thing to diversify in ones content strategy by creating content on multiple platforms. I plan to continue posting videos on both DTube and YouTube alike, but I also plan to keep that content unique.
But DTube has problems it seems. Videos there don't get properly retained, often being deleted within days of uploading. I think its going to take some time for DTube to get the issue of video retention right. Till then I'm backing off from publishing a lot of videos there. A lot of my videos no longer will play, and I'm seeing the same issue with others as well.
The better solution to sharing the same videos from YouTube elsewhere is to create a blog post on Steemit and embed the video in the post, adding some new images, and a more thorough description with new context. Then its considered unique content again by search engines.
Sorry if this is a dumb question but if Dtube only stores videos for 30 days does that mean they just disappear after that and can't be viewed by others anymore?

6k seems a little low for BTW to drop... but this is crypto after all... so i guess 6000 is not that far fetched
I didn't know dtube only stored the videos for a short time, only made 1 dtube video so far but i'll save them all so that in the future i can post them again when dtube has a longer storage

It’s an interesting (logical) explanation of one of the influences of the BTC price drops.
The markets scared a lot of people, but I´m thinking that the worst is already over, and we are not going lower. This green day, shows the strength of the crypto markets, we can't even reach the lowest ever this year with so many bad news on the air.

I don't think BTC would go below $6000, i guess $8000 should be the baseline for buying, as many buy order are placed at around 8K.
I just don't see bitcoin going sub $6,000, if it does there are some alt coins I would rather load up on then bitcoin because I want something that has utility
I really don't mind dtube taking a cut, they have to pay the bills too

I hope STEEM price will rebound in the days to come as it will be positive for the blockchain. For me, I did not look at the price but will keep on blogging.

Even if things don't look great and the rough start of the year keeps on going I do think that there is a chance that we already saw Bitcoin's lowest point this year. So... I don't know.... maybe we won't go as low as 6.000$ again.

Government regulation will decide, you cant get away from it for all cryptocoin is backed by government currency. If it was not all crypto would be worth zero. At some point the holder of crypto will want a government fiat currency for their crypto.
There is a huge dip ahead. If BTC goes less than $6000.00 how much would be a steem price that time. Perhaps .5, truly perfect buy signal.
