A promise let me to the doctors office...

As a man I sometimes say 'yes' to things Bianca asks and then promptly forget about it.

But the promise always comes calling at some point in time.

And so it was this morning.

I was nudged awake by Bianca to get ready to go to the doctor.

I was manfused instantly.

I couldn't remember anything about a doctor.

As it turns out 3 months ago I said 'yes' to a full checkup at a doctors office in Brasil.

It's a dream of Bianca that this would happen because she wants to know if I'm healthy.

In the Netherlands it's not normal to have checkups.

I basically go to the doctor when I'm sick or hurt and that's it.

But not here.

Very common to have a regular checkups (Diabetes checks, Cholesterol, you name it...).

So at 8 I found myself at the doctors office with Bianca.

She knows this female doctor for about 13 years now and the relationship they have is different than any relationship I ever had with a doctor.

The greet each other as friends with a kiss on the cheek for instance (I got a handshake).

This doctor spoke even faster than normally so I zoned out pretty fast but I was surprised at the amount of time she spend talking to Bianca.

We must have been in there for 40 minutes. (In the Netherlands 5 minutes is what you get most of time).

She checked me out as well (blood pressure, heart) and signed us up for blood tests.

She was indeed very nice and very professional as far as I could see.

And on the way out I got my first doctor kiss on the cheek :)

Blood was drawn soon by the most professional blood drawer in history. (I didn't even feel the needle go in).

And that was it.

We did have to pay on the spot but as many things here it was affordable enough.

I was somewhat pleased I only had one beer last night but how the rest will turn out I have no idea.

In the second week of September we will get the results.

It does make me wonder what else I said 'yes' to....

Manfusion. I think I suffer from this sometimes too.

Haha! I think it's a common symptom among men.

🙄 😏 What do you think about @timcliff’s Steem Investing Day he has planned

How's that possible, that women never forget a promise or a yes that we said like a million years ago, it must be love.....

where is the doctor's pic ?? in your words she looks so hot and beautiful hahah

Was not aloud :)

hahaha bianca would have killed you 😂😂

Ah well. Now it's done. You may not have to say "yes" to it until your next visit to Brazil. Could give you some breathing space @exyle. 😁

Very similar to here! I remember my mother always scheduling those full check ups to me (that I hate) and I always tried to avoid it.

Looks like I'm a man made in Portugal but that would prefer to live in the Netherlands. (at least for this reason) :D

Haha! I can imagine.

In the Netherlands it's not normal to have checkups.

That's because check ups statistically have no relationship with mortality rates. It's an old practice that is going out of favour.

Haha, maybe. But if I turn out to have something you be hearing I told you so for 6 days at Steemfest by her ;)

Presumably that must happen sometimes. I suspect that the reason there's no link overall is that it increases stress a very small amount for a much larger number of people, and that stress must counteract the benefit of sometimes finding something early.

Also false positives etc.

Hi exyle. I also have a special relationship with our doctor as we were neighbors for ages. The only thing is i hope you didn't eat after 10pm as can change the tests slightly. It is advisable to have tests regularly as they say better safe than sorry.

I was manfused instantly.

Hahahaha LOL, That happens to us a lot. How long will you and bianca be in brazil?

For a couple of weeks more.

Check-ups were something I was always advised to go and do but to be honest I think last time I had a check up was perhaps around 9 years ago, hmm but saying that now I did have one at the hospital about 3 years ago but being there was beyond my control @exyle

Interesting that it will take that long to get labs back. Basic blood work at my office is like 2 days. Wonder if there is a big back up at the lab haha.

Hahaha funny story. First kiss is always a good one 😀

Haha! yeah :)

This is the sort of relationship I have with my regular doctor here and yes this is the kind of treatment you get when you pay for it. The public system is quite different. I am surprised that you have to wait until the second week of September for your results...And BTW, all women do this for the man they care about!

I asked Bianca. It's 2 days but our appointment is later.

Really fun reading your post.
At least it is a very good thing you said yes to.
This is a complete vacation.
Enjoy it and keep on postin'

Thanks!

Hahahahahahaha. From now on you must remember to say yes, @exyle. I hope you do well on those tests even though you've been eating a lot of fried foods and carbohydrates. In our Latin countries it is normal for our physicians of years to become friends with patients. It's a way to demonstrate trust. You'll tell us around here how you did on those tests. In the meantime, keep enjoying yourself. Greetings and take care.

I will! thanks!

Dear friend, it is always good to have a general check-up, and it is good that you have Bianca to remind you what you have to do, and above all that she wants you healthy and in good health, here the doctors are very good. good hands and more if Bianca knows him, just wait for the results in two weeks to confirm that everything is normal. Greetings.

Glad to hear that you made it to the Dr. to get a proper checkup. It is very important. Especially to get bloodwork done. They can catch things that you might not otherwise know about. I can attest to putting off going to the Dr. too long and ended up having cancer. I wish I would have went to the Dr. sooner and gotten checked out. Also, never be afraid to ask the doctor about something if things don't look or feel right. It might be in an embarrassing area or difficult to talk about, but the alternative is much worse!

Damn man, sorry to hear that. I hope you are ok now. I usually go when I feel something but not for regular checkups. Luckily, I have no embarrassment at the doctor. I think that a doctor just looks at bodies like a mechanic looks at cars.

That is a good way to think about it! Yes, all good now, I am in remission and just have to keep going back for checkups every year. Thanks for the kind words!

Now you need to carefully remember, my friend, where you said "yes", haha. But you will agree Bianca concern for you is a pristine and necessary one when it comes to health and once again to check our health will not be superfluous, especially since you were waited with a bonus in the form of an excellent beer, haha. Well done! Thanks Mark

Your probably find out your blood is actually just beer 😂

The health care system in the Netherlands is too expensive and not that great of a service. Not difficult for any other country to beat that.

I congratulate you for having a medical checkup, here in South America it is customary once a year to do it to prevent some disease

Same

Gotta make same visit soon...

You wanted to give me that 133.700 Steem back in may, don't you remember, exyle??? :P

She got you good :)))

promise got you back hahah

I too suffer from manfusion, it can be a chronic condition. : ) In all seriousness I hope all the tests come back good. I'm sure they will.

Yes bro promises always makes Aman lose, because italways forces our heart and mind to make our commitment in real, and it's really important to keep it , bcoase we made promises to keep them, and when the promise is about health it's important to keep it because it's our health,

AND HEALTH IS WEALTH......
