SMT's will create many new communities on the STEEM blockchain.
But I'm wondering what that will mean for steemit.
We are mining the main token here. That will drive all other tokens (bandwidth).
STEEM will be extremely valuable if everything works out.
But before new communities can be built we still have to wait for HF20 and HF21.
In the SMT telegram channel, Ned said that SMT's will come out this year.
I think the mining effort for STEEM will harder before we get there.

If SMT’s come even close to being as big as you think they might be, the demand for Steem tokens could be massive. Any person/company that employs them on anything more than a limited basis will need Steem Power for their bandwidth. Going forward the Steem inflation rate will be less than 9% annually, and dropping. Growth in demand for SP could far outpace the growth in its supply.
Right now, it’s relatively easy to acquire SP. But that could change fast if SMT’s take off.

SMT will change the game and bring more pride to steem
I guess, one "mistake" you are making is to equal Steemit as a blogging platform with social media.
As I wrote also in my article yesterday, this is a huge difference regarding the marketing.
The way I see it, Steemit is solely a blogging platform for content creators and not a social media site. In the future with apps like Appics etc. there will also be the possibility to get rewarded for posting and interacting with "daily life stuff", but at the moment, I don't see this casual daily stuff being rewarded by people spending their valuable VP. Again, you may be an exception with your evening food/casual posts, but I don't see much social media stuff here, that is rewarded and simply because this is a blogging platform and not Facebook!
Have you and the other @blockbrothers guys thought about launching an SMT project? I know you're smart and knowledgeable people with a good range of skillsets and if you could think of a good idea for an SMT it could be very lucrative for yourselves, and also go a long way towards helping STEEM.

We have not thought about an SMT yet but it sure will be cool to use to get some liquidity with projects and trying to add value it. We have thought about how to utilize Steemify with different communities and that will be cool!
SMT will indeed open many new opportunities in the crypto space and help entrepreneurs to better raise money and at least have a top blockchain technology support. Moreover, it will benefit all of us in steem ecosystem , hence why I am exited. I seriously can't place a perfect guess on how SMT might become or it's long term advantages. I think we all should stay patient and enjoy the Steem train.
Perhaps, SMT will boost Steem the more imagine the recognition steem is gathering without the launch of SMT with alexa ranking, bloomberg, weiss and others. How much more can we expect Steem to grow if SMT comes alive.?

why do you not make a steem account for baby sam and put it on autovote for some of your favourite authors and let it sit accumulating profits
then you can give a decent account to him when he turns 18... (or 14 or so) It would be like opening a savings account for a baby and putting in a bit every month
That is actually a very cool idea. Give him some start up steem and go! I'll think about it.
Steemify is a very useful app. I don't know if Steemit will survive in the long run, there are and there will be many other gateways to access the blockchain though. SMT is a very good idea for the long term development, we need patience, in the meanwhile, let's just have fun blogging :)

If you believe and you work hard, you can "see the future", and I think we are going on the right way, right now we are expecting to win some market cap and become one of the best coins in the world.
I have no doubt that in 5 years we will be very happy with this small risk, you just gotta know when to take out your profits.
steem will be harder to get it seems like even currently not easy to get hands on its great that we are getting more sbd and convert in 1:1 ratio but in sometime it will get hard

Someone was recommending investing in bid bots to me yesterday to get fast er exposure. I've only looked at them from the point of making a positive return which seems to no longer be the place so had dismissed them. Not sure how I'd get the extra exposure though as I don't write in a specific niche. Anyway, something to think about.

Yes, I consider STEEM is a good investment even if steemit would not be here. Remember Steemit and STEEM are not the same.
Yes, We will stay a witness for sure. There is a lot of work to do in the department, now and in the future.
I know i am biased since I help out on the discord but check out smartsteem... they are quite good since they balance the commerial with the ethical.
everyone can sell their spare voting power but only whitelisted can buy and spammers/copy-pasters are blacklisted
and in my opinion steemit / busy and the other writing platforms will stay but they might not be as important as before.
OK. I'll check Smartsteem out too but I don't have any spare CP or SP. I'm still trying to blog my way to 500SP and am looking into investing.

Well talking about SMTs ,I am hoping it comes out soon . It is going to change the face of blockchain and I am happy that change will be anchored by Steem blockchain but I really don't know what to expect. Just keeping my fingers crossed.

@exyle I just know that a year from now most people who get on STEEMIT and earn some STEEM will be very Happy. Those that are consistent and produce content and comment everyday will be the Big Winners. I know lots of people come here and get discouraged, all I can say is don't get discouraged know that you will need to go through "The GRIND" just like Mark did or anyone else that has been on STEEMIT for any amount of time. From my own experience I can tell you that .10 and .25 posts don't seem worth it but it does get much better the more you stick to it and build relationships............
