Short ribs for lunch with Bianca and Fabio and the start of operation Kill Mickey.

in #life6 years ago (edited)

My friend Fabio came round for lunch today.

His future wife is in Brazil for 4 months so he has all the time in the world for visits!

Also, he is already growing a beard as you can see.

When the cat's away the mice will play :)

Bianca made a lovely meal with short ribs, cassava, and rice.

She prepares everything in the pressure cooker.

I probably told this many times before but the pressure cooker is a very cool cooking device.

I was always scared to own one because I thought they were basically bombs ready to explode.

But I got used to them.

The short ribs she prepared in the pressure cooker fell off the bone and were full of flavor.

Casava is something I learned to love. We don't eat this normally in the Netherlands.

Everything was insanely delicious.

But when cleaning the dishes disaster struck...

Fabio saw a mouse. A real one...

Now I know we have them because I have seen them too.

It does not bother me too much.

(Actually, I was hoping they would leave voluntary now that it's getting warmer.)

But for Brazilians it's different.

They don't wait around.

It's instant time for a full-on code RED.

I guess I can no longer avoid it now.

All the food will have to go in plastic containers.

Traps will be bought.

Tomorrow operation Kill Mickey will commence.

or maybe I should just get a cat....

Cool gesture that you guys are having fun. Cool dish.
Just wonder what is cassava ?
I am a Caribbean descent and I know the cassava is from yuca.
Keep on steemin’

I think yuca is another word for it but I'm not sure. According to Wikipedia, it is.

thank you for the lovely lunch man. Don't know who is a better cook in that house! much awesome, very delicious. next weekend, my place!

When you say cassava, I dint quite get it. Here in Africa, cassava is only a raw material used in making other foods, for instance we use cassava to make garri, we also use it to make fufu , we use it for Abacha and many other stuffs so what exactly did you guys use the cassava for or did you just cook it like that???

By the way I am laughing my arse out at "operation kill Mickey" ....in my house we don't let the mice see the light of day. Its either we kill it of send it away. They are very destructive rodents and shouldn't be allowed to hand around in the house.

I think she cooked it in the pressure cooker with all kinds of spices. But maybe @bkdbkd can answer this better.

In Brazil we eat cassava either cooked, friend or in soup. We also eat it's flour and you can also make a cake with that.

When the cat's away the mice will play :)

lol, that’s completely true! You are right, the pressure cooker is an excellent especially for rice.
Tomorrow is a big day I guess, @exyle will be catching the 🐭 lol, I can already imagine.

Oh yeah, a wonderful dish on the photo and ribs look appetizing, I'm sure it's very tasty! You are right, my friend will leave with the warmth of the mouse, but now of course you need to insure yourself and catch them, because they can be nimble and do things, haha. Thank you Mark.

wow amazing dish indeed, i really like short ribs and especially cassava is my favorite because it add more flavor and taste in dish and man the end result of the short ribs with cassava and rice is no doubt superb and it looks so tasty too, thanks for sharing these moments with us and wish you and fabio all the best in your adventure ahead, Stay blessed.

I want to grow beard too.. Lol.. Just get a cat

wow, this is a interesting story in your life.bianca makes doing cassava, and rice with the short times.this dish to see very yammy and tasty.bianca all foods makes doing of pressure cooker.pressure cooker is the easy method for cook doing.your friend fabio coming to lunch doing with you.because her wife always to trip country to country.so,your friend really enjoy to lunch time spend with you.you always sharing doing your real life story with all steemians friend.i hope that you enjoy this moment to lunch with your friend.fabio saw a mouse. the start of operation Kill Mickey of commence. thank u very much for your good post sir.. @exyle

Wish I could have a taste it looked yummy. Even without having it tasted

Oh wow. I'm not sure I would have such a laid back attitude to a mouse in the house. I hate seeing their droppings around, even in the garage which is the only place we've had them.

Have you ever eaten cassava raw. i made the mistake of doing that once when i was travelling. The locals though it was hilarious but it was extremely unpleasant. it's like have a mouthful of pins that you can't get rid of.

Have a lovely evening!

I never ate it raw but even cooked it can get stuck between your teeth.

Pressure cookers seems 'bombs' to me too. That's why I never owned/tried one. However, I never rejected any food cooked in them. I read somewhere 'face the fear and fear disappears' so, I'm planning to finally give it a try.

This made me laugh out loud:

When the cat's away the mice will play :)

Interesting post @exyle. I hope you enjoyed your meal with your friend.

The site of mice in the house is usually irritating to me, I can't really tell them and cockroaches which actually irritates me more.
Bianca cooked again, I feel like I need someone in my life now, like Fabio.
Pressure pots are cool, my older brother got married last year December and I got him one as a wedding present, has been raving about it to me and now I am tempted to tell him that I was the one who bought it because he doesn't know yet.
I love the way you let your followers into your house by posting about these things. Thank you.

Just get a cat or two. We have three on the homestead and no mice! The food looks delicious. Casava is good. We don't eat it in Canada either, but were introduced to it in Central America.

Go with the cat option, not only will it kill the mouse but you will also help sheltering a poor animal during the cold weather, and it will work for that mouse and the next ones!!
They also provide much needed company!!

In 1977 I lived in an old farm house which was infested with mice. You may need to move to a new house.

I've been telling him that for over 3 years.

let's move to an old farm house :)

Lol at the post title... Operation Kill Mickey

Traps are better than a cat, we had them for a while and my two cats did nothing! The traps sorted them out in about a week and the worst thing was that there were a whole lot more of them than we expected.

I'm also thinking there could be way more than 1 or 2. Let's see. We start today.

@exyle I love cassava, I'm salivating after seeing the cooked meal.
@fabio is really a nice German, I do visit his blog, he's so so German. I love the way he cherish his followers.
I'm glad to know in this post that @fabio has a gf.
My regards to the cook.
The rats in my kitchen are crazy. The way they climb up to the shelves above on the kitchen wall amazes me.
@exyle you really need to get those mice. They are now testing your patience 😂
FLAG THEM🐀, FLAG OUT🐀, FLAG THEM HARD😂

wait...wait...Kill WHO?

Mickey Mouse

Your food looked delicious, nothing better than having a good friend around , nice food and great conversation. I agree you must get rid of that mouse, they are really destructive. They eat thru everything even electric wires causing major disaster if left unchecked.

Costilas and madioca that sounds very delicious, I've had my own manioc plantation, but this year I'm not going to plant, I'm limited with the times to take care of the plants
In all parts of the world there are mice are very abilidosos to sneak, it is said that for every rat that you see behind there are 70, this I learned when working in the supermarket, environmental disinfection agents said this.
Good luck with the Kill Mickey operation.

It start today :)

Traps will be bought.

Tomorrow operation Kill Mickey will commence.

or maybe I should just get a cat....

Getting a cat might take a longer while to chase Mickey considering time frame (for its to get use to you & some other factors

Traps are cool instead..!

Haha yea I remember when I was little and my mom used the pressure cooker often I wasn't a fan it looked like something was about to blow the kitchen up, mice are no big deal dont know why people get so freaked for @exyle

😂😁 poor mousy!! Get glue traps so you can set it free once you catch it. You just have to cut the glue away, put mousy in a box and take it far away(Hopefully, not 'them'!).
Oh, man!!!! Love cats but best if they live outside!! Haha .... too much hair and mess to clean up always, and heavens if you get a kitten. 🐱🐁

Cassava, makes great gluten free flour for the best pizza dough!!! Didn't know you can eat it as a part of a meal too....... now, i am craving someone to cook me short ribs and rice with salad 😁😂 thanks for the laughs.

The things you learn on the @exyle blog!!! Good luck tomorrow 🤞

insanely delicious dishes are the best ever to have and seems like the perfect meal to enjoy along with insanely talks hahah :)

I have a feeling that your mice adventure are just beginning though I hope I am wrong :)

I have this feeling too....

Hahahahahaha

Bro word said you 100% accurate: When the cat's away then mice will play.

This Quota is related to every married man.

I saw that you food is different than Indian meal.

Bro don't you eat chappati? In India we take chappati's two time a day.
One in lunch and 2nd time in dinner.

We took rice at noon. But your food looks very good.

And trust me cooker is best to user for cooking because it take less gas to cook the food and even food cook very fast.

Must use Cooker.

the plate was served with heavenly delicious dishes now i am feeling hungry time to make something :)

Just so you know, my cat Mini is available to borrow, haha... good luck with That!!

Hahaha..... Your friend (a visitor) saw another uninvited visitor from the back door. Appealing meal, looks inviting and delicious. How I wish you can share some digitally with me. Just kidding. I suggest a solution to your operation KILL and DESTROY...just get a cat and all uninvited visitors will run for their life. Say hi to Fabio.

have a nice lunch and nice to see your friend. thanks for share your memory with us.

he definitely has time to visit ;p enjoying single life lol :D
it is an awesome time around :)

hahah even i think they are home made bombs if done wrong i that's why never used pressure cooker alone in my life

I live in a bus here I use a pressure cooker just about everyday.Im single and I love cooking so I cook way too much food so I'm always sharing with my neighbor and I have plenty left over to feed my dogs "people food".One of them is a cairn terrier puppy and she's way more fun than a cat and at 4 months old she found and killed her first mouse here in the bus. I love your videos and your posts here. I'm learning the correct way to grill a steak. The weather is crappy here so I'm not ready to grill yet but when I am I will post my results too. I love steemit. Thank you for teaching me the right way to use I voted for the first time for block brothers. Hope it helps.

Pressure cookers are brilliant.. Noisy though..
