Trying to save a bird...

Walking Trevor today I come across this bird (only picture I got).

He's clearly is not to well.

I try to look around for his parents but I don't see them.

He's just sitting there roughed up.

I feel like I can't just leave him there.

Before you know it a random cat will take him and eat him.

We can't have that.

I then remember we have an animal ambulance in the Netherlands.

(I don't know if we are alone in this).

So I give them a call.

The lady ask me what kind of bird it is.

I am not David Attenborough so I tell her that I don't know.

She then ask me to pick up the bird to inspect it....

I ask her how one picks up a bird.

"With your hands, sir"

.......

I ask her to wait while I approach the little guy.

But the moment I get close he hops away.

I can clearly see one of his legs is broken.

I tell the lady on the phone that his leg is broken and he is running away from me.

She says, well if you catch him let us know and we will pick him up.

By now Trevor is looking at me like I lost the plot.

I call Bianca.

She arrives and takes Trevor for a walk.

And I go looking for a stick because the bird has gone under the bridge I'm standing on and I can't reach him.

It takes a while before I find a stick.

By the time I find one Bianca and Trevor have returned and are watching me on my belly with my stick.

I poke the bird and he moves but not far enough.

I poke him again.

He appears on the other side and....

He fly's away with his broken leg and all!!

All my efforts for nothing!

I conclude I'm not that great with birds.

O well...

I hope he will be alright.

😂 St @exyle of Assisi!

A beautiful story, my friend and you showed nobility to this wounded bird, because many would have passed by it and as you saw this bird could become someone's prey. Although your efforts proved to be without result, it is still a good act on your part and I also hope that everything will be all right with him. Well done! Thanks Mark

I have a bird and one day i left him outside in my home garden and sadly was attacked by my neighbour's cat and broke his leg, but thank God now he getting better 😊
Thanks for sharing. Regards

I thought I saw a Puddy Tat.........

You did what compassion demanded... At least you gave it a try... and it does not matter whether you succeed or not:) I am sure you did your best.
Well Done

I ask her how one picks up a bird.
"With your hands, sir"

It sounds like this cute bird was playing with you lol. In US it’s their season. Few weeks ago I caught one little baby in our garden calling for his parents. He seemed hungry and thirsty. I gave him some water with bird’s food. He Actualy ate it from my fingers. He can fly now, but I still can hear him around. I guess he got to like our garden, especially when having a good memory.

It seems you did a better shop then I did!

Nope we cant have the little birdie get eaten but yes we aren't all David Attenborough's I guess she was wondering if it was a bigger kind of bird like a swan, haha use your hands @exyle duh. Anyway it really is a shame after all that stick work the birdie didn't get saved but still a* for trying man.

I pity the poor starving cat who now has little chance of finding a good meal. Remember... you can’t save us all. Cats need love too... Or not. The good news is you got some exercise on your walk. LOL.

Hi exyle. Sometimes you have to let nature takes it's course. We have rescued so many animals over the years and you end up with a zoo. The pigeon we rescued last year still visits after 6 months in the wild. It is pretty neat as he will fly to you.

I lol’d 😂

HAHA! "I'm not David Attenborough." Hope the little guy heals and makes it. Good effort.

I tried...I hope the same.

At least you tried :) the 'cooperation' of the animal ambulance sounds familiar. One I drove over the local carway and I saw a crow. Also a bit young one. Cars where passing by and the crow rolled over the road by the wind. Couldn't leave him there so I stopped on tje road, other cars where honking at me but I didn't care. When I called the ambulance the woman told me that they had other things to do and didnt come for a crow.... I was flabbergasted, I think she thought we had enough crows.... so a friend of mine took it with him.. the crow survived and is out again :)

Good job man!

Wow...at least you tried to the best of your ability to save that bird. If he was strong enough to fly away then hopefully he will be ok. Birds are resilient and can live with an injury as long as they can fly and eat. Lets hope he flew off, found some insects to eat and a safe place to rest :)

"I am not David Attenborough "
Exactly!
David would just use his camera.

Keep smiling Exyle.

The bird is really weak and wants to take care
You have done good to my friend

Dear friend, today I am just going to tell you that you have a beautiful soul, full of kindness, and that there are very few people who do acts like the one you tried to do today, I like to know how beautiful you are I bless you greatly hopefully the poor bird Be well and soon cure your broken leg. Greetings, dear @exyle.

Great effect @exyle Good work

poor bird got lucky.. Nice sir exyle!

LOL!

We once saved a bird who got caught in wires. We were three or four people and it took us a few hours because we had no way of reaching it and it was unbearable to watch her hang from its feet that got tangled in a wire.

One guy had too to hang from a wall three stories up in air and then extend a almost a fifteen feet bamboo pole one handed. He then went at it by hitting the wire in the same spot for a long time until it broke away. I am not sure if this dude was a superman or not because I tried it before him and failed. Didn't even knew the other guys. Just a bunch of random strangers who got together trying to help a bird.

Yeah we saved the bird and got a major tongue lashing from others for risking hanging up in the air on a building.

You r a very good person kindhearted with animals, though your efforts dont give you the satisfaction of resque the poor animal, but your work is great .Thanks for sharing the incedence, hope the birds will be alright soon dear.

It is very difficult to deal with birds, because you dont understand what is the real problem. It happened to me some years ago and failed in it :(
But you did what you could!

Lucky for the poor bird that you got to him before some crazed cat! Thanks for being a kind-hearted animal lover! I probably would have done the same thing.

Very great job, really poor bird was very lucky because he got you ,if he didn't get you God knows what happened to him. Wish him he will be alright soon. Very nice to see your kind hearted about this innocent bird .

Hopefully the little guy had simply overheated and was just taking a break.

Now he's off to Tweet about how great a guy @exyle is.

You did your best there not many people do such thing :)

Oh that bad that you could not help but at least you tried and that is more than enough to know that you wanted to do the right thing!

That is pretty funny that he just ended up flying away. I would have needed gloves or something. I am totally afraid of the bird flu! I had to sit through a seminar on it one time and it scared the crap out of me. Maybe he can find a place to nest and just sit tight to heal.
