There is something irritating about backend development.
If it's done right there is a good chance that you as a user don't notice anything. Which is actually a good thing.
I notice this in my own work. The difference is I don't develop but I maintain.
When I fix a potential problem before it becomes a real problem it's very useful for the company I do it for but they won't perceive it that way.
It's just something that is expected of me.
But if I make a small tweak in a workflow to make it more efficient for the users it's instantly appreciated as something great.
Both actions are useful but often only the latter gets recognition.
Perception is everything I guess.

I can feel the improvement with steemit lately. It gets smoother and the lag tends to go away.
It feels like there is no issue with the platform.
The graphic change stands out and yes steem price is showing some progress.

Nice insights as always, not sure I'd agree that Bitcoin is boring though, especially not this week with all the drama!
Steem is performing well now and in the future after these developments the platform is going to be stronger and bigger.

Yes I always knew that the price of Steem will rise back up. those who were wise enough to have bought at $0.80 will have at least 20% profit by now.
The concept you are exploring is a very interesting one:
It doesn't matter all the great works that have been done on any platfform if people/users can't percieve or see it. They are ultimately the ones that the value of the system depends on. So everything should be done to appeal to their inner pleasures
There's nothing as sweet as like logging into steemit one day and noticing alot of mind-blowing changes. I promise you that moral will increase and prices will spike.
I know steem is heading to the moon man! We may need to move to another planet once SMTs launch because earth may not be enough for we Steemians any longer.

I really appreciate how important perception is. As the general public becomes more knowledgeable about the technical aspects patience will grow. @lukestokes post was a good read and helps along these lines. It's just human nature to want everything "yesterday"!
As long as things work the way they are intended people are satisfied. They usually don't care what happends behind the scenes...
And I'm noticing small changes gradually.today I found beautiful color combination when you go the specific comment url.
Wow great news @exyle I saw Steem climb to 0.93 out of the 80's but didn't know it was around $1 again yay. Indeed but sometimes when you dont get any recognition for keeping the problems at bay it can feel a little lonely out there.
its good to hear that the team is working hard in the background! it gives more value to steem and in the end we will all profit from it!
All the back end development will come to light eventually allowing more front end development. The unsung heroes are the real ones anyway :)

Honestly saying, nowadays it is a standard when users dont notice backend work. And if they do , it means developers are making a poor job.
I did not like how steemit was lagging before the steemfest and users had 0 information about what was going on. It is unpleasant for me to say lime this , but dev. department was doing poor job at that time.

Yes you are right. Perception is what matters a lot, most people applaud you, when you perform a more daunting task, they like to see you achieve extra out of ordinary.
