The new HF19 is giving a lot of people new influence and like me, it's not something they are used too. They are just normal people.
I'm trying to find a new balance with it all and it's an interesting journey for sure.
In one way I think it's funny because I just blogged and had fun on Steemit. I also saw a good investment in Steem so I bought into the downtrend. And now I find myself with this influence I never expected.
It's a crazy journey on the blockchain for me and I bet for many people. And there is no manual for this.
It's all new for everybody.

Today it's happening. I'm going to buy something I have been dreaming about for years. It's called a green egg and it's wonderful.
This is a picture of me with a green egg. This is the biggest one there is. I'm going for a smaller size.

First off, let me say that your life blog is pretty much my favourite on Steemit. Keep up the great work, man.
But yeah, your post raises some really interesting issues. I mean, there's such a fine line between "supporting someone" and "circle jerking", right? Because content itself is so subjective. What someone may view as a work of art, you may see as a piece of crap! That's life! What you alone hold is the power of deciding whether to upvote or not and if so, how much to pay out.
Throw friends into the mix and things become even more complicated. The issue of "favouritism" rears it's ugly head. The confusion over why you haven't upvoted them to the fullest extent of your steempower? The feelings of betrayal afterwards! "How can you introduce me to this great platform and then leave me to fend for myself. How's that fair?" mentality. It's one of the easiest ways to put a strain on the best of friendships.
But the bottom line is we joined at the start and worked our asses off to get where we are. Months or weeks of getting paid nothing but a few cents. Where was our "favouritism" when we needed it? Why didn't someone support us when we felt like shit after getting bad payouts on a regular basis?
As I'm sure you'll agree, you had to have been there to fully understand the "grind", lol! But I think your morality and code of conduct speaks volumes about you as a person. And I highly commend you for that, @exyle. You are the singular and final judge when it comes to evaluating content and choosing how to reward it.
THAT is how this platform was always intended to be used.

Still on the morality thoughts eh, don't worry man you are doing/thinking the right things. Certainly upvote your own posts and friends, don't think twice! I see folks upvoting their comments at $80 a go so you have no guilt to feel there at all.

Even though i don't have anywhere near your SP the fact that my upvote does more than +0.00 is already quite amazing. Nice way to have mixed up the status quo with HF19. And it seems that those with high SP still get considerable rewards as well.
I like you paying attention to morality on this platform and this community. I think it's very unique and a big positive thing that we as users have this influence and opportunity to shape this platform.
Next to your Steem Power, the second big influence you have is your content. And I'm happy it's positive, balanced and focussed on building this community :)
What an adventure this is!
Before I found Steemit I was planning on starting a Youtube Channel. But now I like this platform way more. I have learned a lot from a lot of Steemians and it really feels like a community. WE can help each other, and reward each other for the value we add to the community.

Green egg got me here to your post and I watched the video. I was expecting green egg to be something edible but now I know it's not. Morality is funny as you said is true and it's good not to be 100% moral since you need to survive too. I stopped voting as you pointed out yesterday so i did not vote your post today.
Will let it reach 100% and then come back. As you were discussing in this video about upvoting yourself I had a feeling, in the next HF they might come up with a rule about how much up vote you can give yourself in order to stop the abuse but it will be a huge topic of debate i guess.

I always buy Weber BBQs @exyle - I've already had 2! Good sold build compared to the cheaper crap! Looking to upgrade soon if the Steem price starts to rise again - it's still in consolidation mode.
Weber grills are amazing. Very good quality. Have used them for years. For slow cooking (8+ hours) it's hard to maintain temp. It was time to upgrade :).
I love the 3 B's in life: Beer, BBQ and baseball on TV - I'm a huge baseball fan!
BTW on the moral thing, a minnow told me today that when they do the 50/50 upvote thing & vote for themselves they only upvote their own comments only - not the posts! This way there is no 25% curation fee to pay! Is this morally correct? Include that in tomorrows post ;) Happy Green Egg day my friend!

Hey @exyle , ik volg je nu sinds ik begonnen ben met steem en waardeer je posts heel erg. Ik heb een vraag. Het is een gunst maar nee ik vraag niet om upvotes oid. Ik ben al een paar dagen aan het denken over hoe ik kan bijdragen aan deze community. Ik heb iets bedacht dat erg leuk kan zijn voor het hele platform. Een soort van spel in een quizvorm dat dagelijks zal plaatsvinden. Ik heb het helemaal uitgewerkt en gepost gisteravond alleen ik krijg niet genoeg exposure. Het enige wat ik vraag is of je de blog zou willen lezen. Misschien krijg je wel veel van dit soort verzoekjes en dan snap ik dat je hier niet op reageert. Ik hoop toch dat je dat wel doet.

Earning your Green Egg with cryptocurrencies is a good investment. Maybe not the best investment to earn money with, but an investment in your social life.. Spending times BBQing with friends and family is precious, and worth the investment, you will get a lot more back for that.
