Two faces of the same coin ~

Remember the time you touched the hot iron?

Did you touch it again?

Or did you learn to stay away from it?

When a bad situation arrives in life it always hurts. Some things hurt a little more than others. You either dwell in that pain and let it consume you or you let that pain be the guide to brighter days.

I think the best way to say it is in Denzel Washington's voice: "There are two kinds of pain in this world; pain that hurts, and pain that alters".

Pain that alters.
How beautiful!

We are not immune to pain. We will never be. There are people that feel no pain. Most of them get a diagnosis. It is not normal to not feel pain. Pain is inevitable. It is a part of being human.

It is an instrument.

What pain always comes down to is how you decide to play that instrument. You can bathe in self-gratification and let it simply hurt you and be done with it. The next time you get hurt again you will only feel pain. The pain will never go away. You will always welcome it into your life.

Unless you learn to play your instrument differently. You play it to the beat of growth. You grow from pain. You let it teach you things and alter your life. It still lingers within you, but it no longer hurts. Instead it becomes your guiding light.

When you let pain alter things within yourself you are reborn. You become a different person. You are no longer the same person you were before getting hurt. Now you are a little more stronger and a lot more wiser.

You decide the outcome.

When pain comes your way I want you to think what you'll do with it. Will you let it crumble you into shambles and refuse to let it go. Or will you see it as an opportunity to do things differently and be a better person. The outcome will always depend on how react to it.

If you have thought it through then getting burnt by a hot iron has happened only once in your life.

So look for all the other hot irons scalding your soul. Seek them out and stare right at them. Find a lesson in them. Be a different person tomorrow. A person who isn't scared of hot irons. A person who is excited to meet their next hot iron with an open palm.
