I learned something from my sister on first aid kits recently, when I sent her this:
She showed me her first aid kit, and it had; Band-Aids, triple anti biotic ointment, decongestant, and laxatives. She had no idea why she would add gauze, pads and tape! I realized that she didn't know how to use these...she is planning to just go to the doctor.
The hundreds of pounds of bulk herbals, are just so much compost; if their uses are unknown. I believe that food and medicine will be used to control the servant population; and it will happen soon! Learn one new herb a week, and it will change your life. Western medicine is rapidly becoming a secondary source for medical treatment for me, because herbals work so much better!
Without knowledge, a prepping first aid kit like mine, is a waste of cash! I have a tackle box full of essential oils that would be useless to her. The surgical (MASH hospital kit) kit I bought would not help her either. The Geiger counter, dosimeters, and iodine; would also sit unused, for lack of understanding. I keep hard copy instructions with each kit, and pray I never need any of them!
But right now, information is free and easy; and we should be digging daily, to learn as much as possible...just in case. Please remember that if you don't have it hard copy, you won't have after the SHTF occurs! The internet will become at best spotty, and will likely fail entirely; so DO NOT plan on looking things up on it!
So now I know that I need to dedicate some time to teaching this sister a better level of first aid, so she can make a decent first aid kit! I better explain prepping again, so she understands that it's a matter of survival; and not just filling in a few days without power etc., expecting services to be restored quickly.
What level have you chosen for first aid at your bug out location?
Will you do:
Dental work?
Surgery?
Treatment for significant illnesses?
Broken bones?
Compound fractures?
Injuries that require stitching?
Poisonous bites?
Radiation exposure?
Treating for bad food?
Diarrhea?
Gunshots?
Malnutrition?
Diabetes?
The level you decide upon, may be a matter of life and death; and will certainly affect your freedom! Any suggestions on the list, are there some I've missed? Do you think any of them are too much to do on a homestead?
I helped a Lady in Venezuela get a family member out of the local hospital, and bring him home to heal or die. In the hospital his wound had gone septic, due to overloaded staffing! She got him home, removed the stitches, cleaned the wound, and butterflied it shut, under a plantain police. I had her make some colloidal silver using a car Battery to add to the dressing, and take internally. He healed up well, and was able to help collect food in about 3 months.
When the current spending drives us under, causing a SHTF breakdown, this will happen to our medical system here pretty quickly! So get ready, a loved one's life may depend on what you know.
I'm currently working on improving my dental capability to include basic fillings, should be interesting!

They are so many other ones nowadays. You can imagine we lacked the COVID specialists. But in this case I would suggest we find dangerous conspiracy buster.
Good thing you aren't packed with the COVID specialists! We have a lot of them here, and they are All Idiots, by their own numbers. They turned the World upside down for a virus that is (by the CDC's website numbers) about one third as deadly as the common cold! They have doctored their statistics significantly (one local young motorcyclist had a fatal accident, and they listed his cause of death to be COVID) so the one third is an inflated number.
They are trying to restart lock downs here right now, as it gives them advantage to stuff the ballot boxes in the upcoming elections! People here are angry, and refusing!!!
So weeds may be all we have for medicine soon....

I am treating cancer with herbals, and it is working so fast that the doctors are confused!
Herbs and anointing, with prayer has healed four known tumors that showed up on a CT scan on 5/31! They are sending me for another scan (proton) to try to find what is gone.
The colloidal silver saved that Mans life, but they had to stop posting; for their own safety! I got them to add planters to the compound walls for more growing space, and recommended fish traps. They were storing food before they stopped posting, so I'm sure they are okay! I wish I still had contact....
I gave a good friend in Kenya, who has a daughter that had a bad wound on her leg. They planned to cut it off, but I sent him some colloidal silver to use on it. The osteomyelitis (bone infection) soon resolved, and the stage 4 ulcer healed quickly. She's now in college and studying to be a wound care nurse!

They had scheduled that girl for amputation, but her Mom is a nurse. She worked on her all the whole she wasn't working, and saved her leg!
I talked to the Mom on the phone, and told her Ruth needed that leg to chase her grandkids! Ruth was 15, and her Mom laughed because she was mortified, ROFLOL!
She's a beautiful young woman now, I'm proud of her.

She is a delightful child! She about made me cry when she called me and thanked me for saving her leg. Her Mother is the one who did that, I just sent some medicine!
I'm pretty proud of her though, she works hard, and is handling college well!
I've kind of adopted some kids over there, and I'm praying for their safety with all the rioting going on!
I worry about them often, about a third are AIDS orphans.
In Kenya, orphans are blocked from school; because they have limited money, and they decided they wouldn't survive anyway! Now they want me to come visit them....

Today's a good time to begin! Start with a good basic first-aid kit, and build up from there. It's good to have one in each car, which can be a backup as needed.
These medical supplies pictured here are at the dollar tree, so it doesn't have to be expensive to start. The more you can learn, the more involved your first-aid kit can become!
