Splinterlands Flying Dutchman challenge

This week's share your battle challenge involves using a card from the Water splinter.

A newcomer who is going to get your soul and haunt you, a spooky captain who will afflict you send and you to the Davy Jones' Locker

Let's jump right into it! Not literally though

Theme: Captain's Ghost

The Captain's Ghost is a Rare card from the Reward edition.

Albeit slow he can afflict You and attack with decent strength, his mana cost is prohibitive though.

It starts with an attack of 2, which is amazing for a card from the water splinter.

His only weakness is his slow speed and his high mana cost of 7.

It can be yours for 0.09 $. This is less than what the flying Dutchman gave Mr. Krabs for Spongebob's soul.

I believe this is appropriate as it brings the Affliction ability into the water splinter.

Since it was released during the untamed series, you'll need more cards to level up

Where to use

The Captain's Ghost should be used on the following rulesets:

  • Reverse Speed
  • Matches with high Mana cap

With Reverse speed the Captain's Ghost becomes one of the fastest cards available, thus losing its only hindrance

The Battle

This Battle involves the Reverse Speed and Earthquake ruleset

For this battle the Mana cap was high enough for me to bring the big guns!

Both of us didn't really focus that much on trying to avoid the effects of the Earthquake ruleset, with both of us only bringing one card with the flying ability.

My strategy was bassically to rely on dealing magic damage, a strategy that can work against the life and death splinter, since they have got few counters against it.

My Lineup

  1. Spineback Turtle: My Melee tank. Great for Earthquake due to its armor, hitpoints and the thorns ability.

  2. Captain's Ghost: The card of the week, strong attack, fast due to the rules and great for earthquake due to high hitpoints.

  3. Sea Genie: A great card altogether, better suited for this battle due to Earthquake.

  4. Ruler of the Seas: The beast from the water splinter. Great for pretty much all occasions.

  5. Mermaid Healer: Great for healing my backline during Earthquake since my card at the front is strong enough.

  6. Furious Chicken: He's Furious and ready to strike if needed.

For battles like this monsters with high Hitpoints are the defining factor

My captain was able not only to deal a lot of damage and survive, he also afflicted my rival's Clay Golem, which caused it to die after the end of the first round.

Due to reverse speed he became the fastest card on the game, which is why it dodged one attack against him.

Even though we were even when it comes to the splinters, the strategy of dealing Magic damage quickly overwhelmed my rival's cards.

The fact that my cards had higher hitpoints also helped me tremendously

See you in the Battlefield!
