This week's share your battle challenge involves using a card from the water splinter.
A veteran who excels at attacking from a distance while at the same time providing a strong wall against attacks.
If you blink you might end up missing its attack!
Without further ado let's dive into it!
Theme: Water Elemental
The Water Elemental is a rare card from the alpha and beta edition. A true old schooler.
It requires five mana, starts with a range attack of 2 and the "heal" ability.
Considering its starting stats it is one of the best cards for low level users.
At level 3 its attack increases to 3.
Its main selling point is the ability to tank. Due to its high speed it is likely to dodge attacks.
At level 5 the likelyhood of dodging attacks is boosted thanks to the "dodge" ability.
This is what makes the Water Elemental an interesting asset.
The Defender can be yours for 0.71$ at the moment. You can rent it for 0.001$ a day on PeakMonsters as well
I believe this is appropriate. even though it is very likely to avoid damage its usage has decreased due to new range cards for the water splinter being available.
Where NOT to use
On matches with the healed out and reverse speed ruleset the Elemental loses its main selling points.
The ruleset of reverse speed is specially damaging to the elemental because its ability to dodge abilities is serverely undermined.
Where to use
- Equalizer
- Equal Opportunity
During Equalizer it is very likely that the Elemental will receive a health boost.
This will improve its healing abilities and it can turn the Elemental into a poor man's version of level 1 Cornealus. Specially on matches where mana is tight.
With the Equal Opportunity ruleset its speed can prove a deadly combination.
Due to its healing ability and its high speed the Water Elemental can esencially counter cards with the sneak or snipe ability while providing an attacking option.
The Battle
This Battle took place in a ranked game. It involves the ruleset of "Silence Summoners" and "Equalizer" and a mana cap of 18.
For this battle I brought Alric at level 3 whereas my rival brought Malric at level 6.
As I knew my chances were pretty slim. Due to Silenced Summoners using Krön and the Llama was not an option.
My Lineup
Battle Orca: For low mana battles this card provide a great defense and decent attack while saving up mana.
Furious Chicken: The Chicken provides a great defense due to Equalizer as it becomes a tank for the backline.
Creeping Ooze: The same as the Chicken but it slows the rival's speed.
Ruler of the seas: The water's GOAT. It is a must go and space should be saved to bring it into the lineup.
Water Elemental: This week's Elemental. Its healing ability is boosted due to the Equalizer ruleset. It should be able to protect the ruler of the seas.
This was a very close battle.
I decided to go with one of my favorite tactics for low level mana battles but decided to add a modification for the equalizer ruleset.
This modification was bringing the Water Elemental due to the possibility of my rival bringing a card that can boost my Elemental's heal ability.
Fortunately for me the only healing card that my rival had was taken down by my chicken.
I was unable to protect my GOAT due to my rival's sniping Fire Beetle.
With my GOAT being taken down it was to up to my water elemental to save my team.
In the end a miracle happened! As soon as my rival lost his fire Imp his offensive power was almost completely reduced. Meanwhile my Elemental was able to heal all the received damage
It all came down to a victory by fatigue.
In the end the Water Elemental ended up being this battle's MVP.
This battle shows how important the positioning and tactics can be. Had my rival brought a card with the affliction ablity or put his chicken before his imp the result would have been another one.
See you in the Battlefield!
