I'm just posting about a certain nasty little individual on steemit who I have flagged and based on his attitude is probably going to start flagging me back.
It came to my attention on the steemcleaners discord channel when i noticed a couple of people complaining about him. I hate wrongful and trolling behaviour on steemit so I checked out his blog first to see what he was doing.
His posts are constant bashing of overweight people, basically shaming them by posting videos off youtube and laughing at them for being overweight, bashing the muslim community as a whole, calling teenage mothers derrogotary names, and insulting them by calling them "faggots" and "fags" essentially insulting the LGBT community.
I am now flagging him for hate speech as it's exactly the type of trolling we all as a community on Steemit signed up to avoid on the likes of facebook and other social media. When I confronted him that his attitude is not acceptable he told me to fuck off he'll call people whatever he likes. This attitude is a disgrace and I'm calling on anyone who agrees that this type of despicable behaviour is not acceptable by us here on Steemit and we won't accept it by flagging his abusive content.
Here is an example of one of his posts, titled "fatboy slip and slide" again this type of shaming on facebook has lead to people commiting suicide and is exactly the reason I no longer use it as trolling and shaming is out of control. It's not something I and I'm sure many of you want to see creep onto Steemit.

I'm all for free speech but purposeful hate speech and shaming is disgusting and if you feel the same I ask you show this individual that it is not welcome on Steemit by flagging him.

The road you are travelling is slippery Ive discovered its Always best to let a person HELP THEMSELVES but council them IF you actually know what you are doing. Its not right/just for you me or the other guy to become the next SJW moron that saves the world. The world may need saving but its made up of individuals. What YOU deem as justice of a person in need of saving may actually become fascist justice which is NO justice but self appointed rightness. Or you may KILL the butterfly that is actually in the middle of transformation to a better stronger self. We as people MUST become stronger "on our own". We MUST learn to overcome the worlds gravity of cruelty each for ourselves for just like astronaughts in space get weaker without gravity so to do humans get weaker without resistance. And the world will NEVER roll over and start being kind sweet soft easy etc because you say meanie, NO FAIR! Of course its not fair....its life. The fat thing came up because a bit back I posted a video about the girl that gave the TED talk about how its wrong for doctors to tell their paitents they are unhealthy for being fat or they need to lose weight is a bad thing died at a young age because she was unhealthy.

Free speech like that works with good people as a society we need rules and laws and common sense. I have views on things which I might feel strongly about but I don't go out and speak abusively about it even though I might think it.
A prime example of free speech unable to be censored is ISIL, they preach their hate speech and twisted views on the world and the message gets out where weak minded people have been convinced to fall in line with the warped views of ISIL and now we have hundreds newly radicalised terrorists cropping up all over the world. If we could have completely stopped ISILs message from spreading accross the world in the first place these weak minded people would not have joined their "cause".

As I have explained many many times regarding this I never once flagged him for his opinion merely the abusive manner he presents it. Constant name calling and abusive language. His opinion on many articles was valid but starting an article he tries to get his point accross by saying "Hey fags" doesn't paint a very literate or valid start to an opinion, everyone should have the right to voice their opinion but it cost nothing to have a little respect and courteousy.
Not to mention he kept saying not just to me but other people who flagged him I'm gonna keep posting this because I know it will piss you off then tagging that person in the post to get his attention so he would get a notification, that is trolling.

I agree with free speech but I also agree with morals, if everyone said what they felt openly we would have an awful world, Imagine a world where you walk down the street and say you had terrible burns on your face and some person like the individual in question starts screaming at you how ugly you are and you should just kill yourself, then you have people fat shaming people walking openly, others shouting the N word, others picking on disabled people etc etc. I respect your view that free speech should be free but I think theirs a fine line between free speech and abuse to be fair.

Having been mercilessly bullied for most of my life, I can say that I'd rather have the freedom of speech than not be called names.
Also, those who commit suicide do it because they are suicidal, not because they are called names. I've never been suicidal for one second out of my whole ad hominem riddled life.
The fine line between free speech and abuse is a hard line that can be demonstrated in court. It is the difference between those simply called names, and those who can demonstrate physical or financial injury.
That's awful to hear and I can totally relate as I was bullied most of my younger years but I have to admit had someone taught them kids and stopped them from name calling I would have grown up differently, the damage name calling causes is subject to the individual.
I also have never been suicidal due to bullying but it affects others differently, I hear so many stories of people trolled on facebook and social media and have died by suicide because it has affected them profoundly. That is why I think people should have free speech but use that privelidge with morals and respect for others whom it may affect.

I am sooo tired of this kind of crap here on steemit and I am a newbie here! Is there no other way than flagging them and having them retaliate to get them off our platform? These types just get worse...

Yeah everyone seems to have a different opinion about people who spend their time trolling here. At least that's what I'd call it (trolling). I had a brief run in with the individual in question in your original post and it seems like that person is merely trying to piss people off, which I consider trolling. I think it has no place here but there will always be people who defend this type of behavior.
I posted something yesterday about flagging vs trying to educate new users and I was called a bully by one person in a kind of roundabout way. This despite the fact that most of the post was about how it's better to try and explain to a person what they are doing and how it endangers their reputation bc if a bigger fish comes and flags them their reputation will suffer (so I'm trying to be HELPFUL). I don't think the person who left the comment understands the expected etiquette here so I checked the user profile and sure enough its a brand new user with one blog post thus far.
I think some ppl don't understand that we're not The ones who make rules here and there are no formal rules except what experienced users / people with a lot of voting power expect to be common practice / etiquette.
We're just trying to make this a platform a more civilized place by trying to prevent personal attacks. But some people consider that to be offensive / abusive and say that we are violating the rights of people who's sole intent is to hurt others and make people angry.
I'd like for this to be a civilized place to engage and communicate with other people but unfortunately there will always be those whose sole purpose in life seems to be to make others feel bad about themselves. And there will always be people who defend that type of behavior as well. Hopefully the accounts with a lot of voting power who make it their mission to patrol the platform will get around to all the trolls.
I tried explaining that most of us on Steemit joined for the community and the escape from the mindless hurtful trolling on other social media sites and Steemit is a platform I love and I never want it to slip into the drivel you see elsewhere.
I'm not trying to censor anyones free speech but I do feel abusive behaviour and needless nastiness should be discouraged, as I tried explaining to him if he presented his content in a non abusive manner I would probably be following him now but all I got from him was name calling, abuse and slander so I have no time for that kind of rubbish I wasn't the first person to flag him and I wont be the last.
Yeah if the people who are screaming "censorship" had some troll following them around and harassing them for no good reason they may think of it a little bit differently. I like that people are, for the most part, intelligent and civil here. Hopefully that won't change too much.
