I finally got a Macbook Pro!

About a year ago, I've thought about just converting (?? like a religion?? hahah) to MacOS from Windows cos I was having a lot of problems with Windows like restart problem and speakers stopped working and none of the technical support and other software solutions worked. I was thinking it might be a hardware + windows problem but I just left it alone instead of me just going to the service center to fix it.

Anyway, in 2020 there was a new Macbook Pro that came out and they introduced the M1 chip but they only had it on 13" which sucks cos it's small. My laptop was new anyway and I'm not a heavy speaker-user so I decided to just wait for a 16" Macbook pro with an M1 chip.

About a few months ago, it finally came out and I literally ordered it the moment it became available for my country (ordering from Apple PH store which came from Singapore).

After 2 months of waiting, it finally arrived!!!

I ordered it on November 19, 2021 and it arrived on January 31, 2022. It is as expected since they tell you the estimated arrival of the Macbook Pro and I was okay with it. It took 2 months since I didn't order the base model hahaha so they have to customize it on their factory on China.

Buying only the best for me!

(Although I kinda regret getting a 1 TB for an overkill laptop I mean what was I thinking???)

I came from Windows and I've never used a Mac before so I was literally clueless on how to operate shit on MacOS.

Even the simplest things like finding the files I don't even know. Even the close, minimize, and maximize it took me a few seconds to find!! LOL. Adjusting phase is quite hard actually, I kept on pressing ctrl C and ctrl V like an idiot.

I'm almost done transferring my files from the previous laptop to my external hard drive to reformat it and take it to the service center before I would give it to my brother.

Everyday is a learning day for me with this new ecosystem.

I'm currently editing my photos and unboxing videos on my Macbook and I'm also using my iPad Pro as a second display! It was also really easy, it only took 2 clicks to connect it and I'm so impressed! I really didn't regret spending $4k on this shit let's fucking goooo!!! 😂

I've also been watching some videos on what to expect from going to Windows to Macbook but they don't tackle to simple things like ctrl is the command button equivalent on Mac and all those small things.

If you have something to share about it would be greatly appreciated! ❤️

First congrats for your new mac, I am sure you'll enjoy it!
Second, I am probably more clueless than you are, about MacOS so I don't have any tips to share.
And third I ordered my first mac yesterday and I don't have a clue how I'll start working on it once it gets here, but I am so damn excited about it :)

Omg yay!! Haha the display is really good, you'll see your photos better 😂 When will yours arrive?

It should be here in a couple of weeks!!!
I can't wait :)

Haha I can understand that excitement and how it sucks to wait lol. Congrats too!!

Love that machine! You only need the charger very occasionally, pretty amazing battery life 🧡

And is you want to become a power user, you should dive into using the terminal! So many unix tools out there that you can use!

Yeah so impressed with the battery life too even when Photoshop and iMovie apps are open! I didn't even hear the fan start working yet, pretty amazing on how it stays cool too.

Ohh codes are quite hard for me to understand hahah but maybe someday I will!

I own a 2016 macbook with an intel cpu and a recently replaced battery and an M1 that I got through work. Although they are more or less the same machine, the M1 has about double the battery life and I almost never hear the fan go off. I even found myself googling at some point to find out if perhaps it didn't even have a fan :p Pretty amazing indeed!

I'm somewhat torn when it comes to macs. On one hand, their OS is much better than Windows. On the other hand, I'm not a fan of their hardware, especially for the cost. These days I mostly use a combination of Windows and Linux.

I understand that, I was also thinking that but I guess it depends on what type of user you are. For gaming of course Windows is still the best choice but for creatives like me, Mac really is the better one. Yeah so expensive tho like you said :/
