The most important thing in our life is a our ordinary daily life.
We can enjoy our common daily life peacefully in a very narrow circumstnaces.
Around the Korean Peninsula, the words relating the war are spoken by mad north korean young leader Kim Jeong Eun. On the neswpaper the analisys articles were written.
I 'd like to continue my posting peacefully.
But if that mad guy threat our peace, I will take my gun and sword aginst mad guy for our children.
Today I am posting with my earnest hope to continue and enjoy this some boring and not a special daily life.
It was really hot summer.
I had been wandering for several days near the East Gate. There were so many things around the East Gate.
Near East Gate I was looking around the water gate which had been built 600 years ago.
It was well preserved even though it was located in the center of Seoul city. It had been outside area of the Seoul, but The area of watergate became the center of Seoul as Seoul was getting bigger.
The watergate was connected to the wall
As walking along the wall, I saw a magpie sitting in the middle of the tree.
A little boy was taking a photo of magppie. It was really hot summer, so the magpie seemed to escape from heat.
The magpie is a resident bird in Korea.
The magpie is believed very clever. The know how to escape from hot summer.
I took close photos of the magpie.
It was too hot to continue to trek the Seoul.
As soon as taking the photo of the magpie, I returned to home to rest.

take a lesson from the magpie and the little boy, @slowwalker.
When threatened with storms or oppressive heat, the wise magpie seeks shelter and doesn't panic or fly away even when the boy comes near...and sometimes boys possess dangerous toys :)
I was impressed with the construction details of the water gate - the boulders lined the bottom so the flow of water would not erode the soil and the water gate would last, as indeed, it has.
I am glad you can take solace in the routines of daily life amidst the gathering storm that threatens the region. I leave you with this encouragement, my friend:
I am not concerned with great matters
or with subjects too difficult for me.
Instead, I am content and at peace.
As a child lies quietly in its mother's arms,
so my heart is quiet within me.

It's great to know about this unique and beautiful bird -- MAGPIE. From where I live, Kingfisher is famous mostly. I have never heard about MAGPIE until now and I am glad to know about it :)

It is nice to read your posts and see how much you appreciate your daily surrounding. We here have much to appreciate from our lives. I no longer live in a city like Seoul. I am now in a place surrounded by nature. I love my life and I try to remember how much I should appreciate whenever I read of other people's struggles.
It is amazing too see how the present city synchronize with the history of the people. They look and feel great together, even it is, like what you have said, built 600 years ago.
The way korea preserves their historical landmarks are truly impressive. I hope we adopt that kind of preservation too.

It looks like it's a historical monument, or indeed a new build in the wake up to the tourist attractions
It was excavated not for long ago
Meaning it could be a tourist spot, from the pictures I see, the location is strategic as well, while the hole that I see from the photos is similar to the drainage hole.
