Before traveling to Mexico, we admittedly had many preconceived notions about the place. It's hard not to when the media is shoving as much doom and gloom down your throat as possible. Well, media be damned. We're here anyway.

Today's Adventure: Andares Luxury Mall

In case you haven't been following our journey to this point, we're now in Guadalajara, Mexico. In this video, we explore the most unexpected Mexican mall we could have ever imagined. Even in comparison to US malls, it's almost otherworldly.

If you also have a certain image of Mexico in your mind, beware: Our video tour of Andares might shatter all those notions to smithereens.

Couldn't agree more @hiroyamagishi, I also just checked their video on their YouTube channel which is @tangerinetravels during their visit to "parque Metropolitano", it was amazing watching their v-log with dog (is it a dog? or a wolf? No idea, as it is too cute, Lol). Keep sharing guys.
Already subscribed your channel! Waiting for more post 👊

@hiroyamagishi thank you SO much for your kind words! We are certainly on a budget ourselves, so we're always looking for inexpensive or free things to do while in Mexico. Thanks for following our journey, we're glad to have you! :)

@fitrianizar according to every child that passes by Laska, she's either a "woof" (wolf) or "lobo" (wolf in Spanish). It's super cute! Now, we jokingly call her both all the time. ;) Thanks for subscribing as well, means a lot to us to hear positive feedback like this. It makes the hours and hours of work worth it at the end of the day! <3

Great post from you
Thanks for sharing

I have a dream to visit Mexico one day. If could go there, definitely will visit this places. Thanks for sharing.

It's a massive country with so much to see. Hope you get a chance to visit soon!

Mexico is a very different place. I was shocked when I got there and at how different it is than the United States. I got bottle service at a fancy club and all you can drink for $50..bus rides there were 50 cents. They take American dollars there..we negotiated and bargained everywhere. Mexico is great and I will definitely be returning!

The US dollar sure does go far in most places in Mexico. And the concept of haggling is very foreign as well. Where did you visit?

Cancun! Amazing and wonderful place. You are treated like a king there if you have even a little amount of money.

Ah, we've yet to make it out to the Yucatan peninsula but probably will before long. A little money by the rest of North America's standards sure does go a long way here!

eyy loco

Thanks for watching!

very cool!

Thanks for watching, hope you enjoyed the video!

i did thank you

Wow what a luxurious! and everything is so expensive,
thanks to letting us know about this mall, i have no idea before this,i enjoyed your video, thanks.

Glad you enjoyed it! Not every mall in Mexico is this expensive, but this one definitely was. Thanks for watching!

Mexico is one of my dream place to visit.

Hope you make it here soon! It's a great place to be. Are you learning Spanish already? :)

Visit, Merida, Yucatan.

A wonderful country and the wealthy, mostly speak spanish. Many popular foods in the world are originated in Mexico. Mexicans are known to be friendly and they welcome foreigners.

I didn't know that many of the world's popular food originated from Mexico. We had a lot of tacos, burritos, and other such things in the US but I didn't know it extended to the rest of the world.

I'd have to agree. Almost everyone that we've met has been very welcoming!

Me encanto tu post , simplemente hermoso , mexico es un lugar increible , me encantaria visitarlo, saludos.

Muchas gracias @dedeliezer! Mexico es magnifico! :)

For Mexicans nothing is too hot hahaha. That mango looks delicious !!

And for us non-mexicans, almost everything is too hot! Haha.

Thanks for sharing your videos!

I am getting a better understanding how Mexico is and I need to visit it.

We appreciate you watching them, it means a lot to us!

Well, media be damned. We're here anyway.

@tangerinetravels I wish so many other people would adopt the same attitude with regards to visiting my beautiful home - Cape Town.... It is not ranked in the top ten tourist destinations of the world for no reason, yet people are too scared to come here because of the rep that the rest of South Africa has. Too sad!

credit

Wow it looks stunning @jaynie! One of my mom's best friends is from South Africa. She's a wonderful person! That's my only experience with the place. Seems like a lovely location to visit. :)

it is.... and you should.... ;)

Love it! Thank you for sharing, besides being able to share some of my own experiences here on steemit, I'm finding it is an amazing way to learn about wonderful places I never would have even thought to visit before. As a travel bug and a newbie to this little community these type of posts are more than appreciated! Keep up the wanderlust!

Thank you for reading our post and watching the video! For a newbie to Steemit, you're doing great! You have the majority of other minnows beat! ;) Welcome to the platform, let us know if we can help you get ramped up in any way.

Steemit really is such a great place to learn more about the world. Between reading blogs and going to both SteemFests, our eyes have been opened to so many things we never thought possible.

Those coloured fishes really caught my attention. I have always loved them. I even had an aquarium back then.
That place really has a touch of class. It is really a place of high class.
That place must be a wonderful sight, which is obvious with how Jordan was having fun. Beautifully expensive hahahahaha you gotta pay as the rich of the land.
This place is really nice.
How is Laska? Been a while...

Those fish were so friendly! They were trying to come up and "blub, blub" eat the camera! LOL. It was a fun place to visit, but nowhere we'd shop in the future. Too expensive for us :)

We're taking Laska out to Parque Metropolitano today! Look out for that video (hopefully) later today. Assuming Jordan ever finishes doing his hair haha! ;)
-Maddie

Hahahahahaha Jordan is really excited about his hair wave, and he wants to spend more time with it...tell him however it is, he will still look great.

No doubt, that is an expensive place.

Laska' s turn, yaaay!. I look forward to it.

Laska's video is up on YouTube now. We should have that posted on Steemit tomorrow.

My hair is almost always a disaster when I try to style it. This is one of the few times my hair was behaving for me hahaha

Hahahahaha seen the video. Laska's fall was epic hahahahaha

Hola los amigos,

Good to know there is a fancy mall to hang out and shop. Enjoy traveling. How much longer you all will be traveling in Mexico before settling down or move on to another country?

Hola! Right about now actually. Haha. We think we might be settling down in Guadalajara for a while.

~Jordan

From your video, my thinking is that Guadalajara would be the great place to settle down based on it has to offer to you all. That city seems to offer a lot for all around living and fun. Would you start a business there or Steemit is it?

It does have a lot to offer in terms of things to do. Plus, the videos we make here turn out to be way more popular than they did in the other cities so that's a big bonus for us.

Our videos are our business. In addition to Steem earnings, we're hoping to have several other income streams soon that are related to our brand. For example: YouTube ad revenue, patreon, affiliate marketing, paid promotional videos, and sponsorships.

wow you guys are eating like kings! I'm such a mango freak i think that's all id eat... like all day -lol

Just subbed, although I usually catch you guys on steemit- I know every little bit helps on the youtube end <3

We seriously buy that giant container of mango every day! And made the Mexican way with Tajin, salt, and lime it's even more delicious than mango on its own.

Thanks so much for subscribing. We only gave ourselves 2 weeks to get from 500-1000 subscribers, so every single subscriber helps us out!

Upvote & Follow! Would be cool if you find some time to read about my trip to Porto as well. Best wishes from Germany!

Wow! All comments by those who had visited are more compelling me to pay a visit one day. I only see Mexican serenities in her movies. They were quite alluring.

There's no shortage of things to see in this awesome country! It's definitely worth a visit!

Haha Mexico is so cool :D

It's so diverse!

Well, you're visiting one of the wealthiest places of Mexico, which is the 14th country by land area. Half of Mexicans live in poverty, and also here live some of the biggest millionaires. Just because it's a great place to stay.

You're way too gringo.

Say no to war.

Both of us have experienced both sides of the coin @gustavomonraz. It's disheartening to see poverty anywhere in the world. Not sure if you watched until the end of the video, but we both mentioned how this mall is super ritzy for our preferences. Neither of us have lots of money, nor do we choose to spend it on expensive brands like at Andares. I (Maddie) prefer to buy from thrift stores and from clearance racks. Or, now that we're in Mexico, from local, hard-working vendors.

Why are you saying we're "way too gringo?"

null

We're going to respectfully disagree with you on this. Making comparisons in life is simply human. Whether you're comparing apples to bananas or the US to Mexico. It's how humans make sense of the world. We're doing our best to paint Mexico in the best light possible by showing others (especially from the United States) why it's not a bad place. There are similarities in the cultures, food, people, etc. and there are a lot of great differences. That being said, it's pretty disheartening to get feedback like this that we "look gringo" because it's a gross overgeneralization.

null

Media be damned indeed. I'll get confused trying to shop from there. So so rich

This is the only mall we've experienced in Mexico with such high price tags. Almost everywhere else has reasonable and affordable prices that are either comparable to the US or less expensive. Thanks for watching!

I am sure Mexico is a country nust be visited ur doing great by showing us these photos

Thanks for commenting. I hope you had a chance to watch the video!

Yes and it’s really nice 👍🏼

I am sure Mexico is a country nust be visited ur doing great by showing us these photos

Mexico is a great place to live, if you are in the right place.
I moved from the US eight years ago and I am not going back.

It absolutely is! Where did you decide to stay in Mexico @kcarchserv?

I live in Merida, Yucatan. I have been living here since 2009. I came to Mexico with a no return ticket to the states. The rest is history.

We here a lot of great things about Merida! Are the summers survivable?

Summer is hot, you just need to stay away of the sun. After 4:30 pm is good to go out . If you go out during the day just stay away of the sun and if you come here just try to rent a house with a swimming pool or have access to it. The temperature can be between the 38C to 45C during the day. I hope this help.

Mexico is one of the best country ever.. soon i will visit this country.

We're really enjoying it. There's so much to see!

Thank you for the interesting post.

Mexico is a great place to be. Once I went to the capital is such a big city, full of folklore and culture! I really loved it. Nice post and video. Sure I'll follow you.

Thanks for sharing.

We're really enjoying it and are only wishing that we started our adventure sooner. There's so much to see and do here.

Thanks for following!

Love Mexico!! Travelled there a lot. Lived in San Luis Potosi years ago. What a great city. If you get to go in land even more go! Street tacos are the best!!! Have a great time and I enjoy your videos! Keep them coming!
