Today's workout. This tree has become my stretching/yoga partner. Most of the parks are empty, and the weather is magnificent. I practice meditation and various martial arts movements outside.
Oh, and hopefully we saved a life today. As we were practicing, a woman approached and asked us to call the animal shelter because a cat got stuck inside the skate park surrounded by the fence. The poor animal got into one of those areas where you have to roll down on the skateboard and the sides are smooth, and she couldn't climb out.
We called the shelter but of course there was no response. Eventually I climbed over the fence (daughter started crying because I was breaking the rules and because the fence was like 6 or 7 feet tall...) and tried to catch the cat, but she looked sick, super-skinny, and mad, almost like RABID. She was breathing heavily, I thought she'd been there for at least 2-3 days, hungry and exposed to the heat.
I couldn't grab her, but me scaring her almost to death gave her more strength to make a great leap and jump out of the damn enclosure. She ran, crossed the bars of the fence, and disappeared in the park. I hope she found water and I hope she won't die from other causes after suffering there for a long time. But that's in God's hands now, as they say.
