Greetings! Glad to have you with us.
The second round is now complete and it was a fun/funny one. :)
There were some really great entries and it reminded me of how important laughing is, which I think was a good lesson for me personally! And hopefully for others as well, I think most people could probably use some more laughter and smiles and happiness in their lives. :D
We're still waiting on one of our judges to vote for the first round as we had a late entry that put us back a couple of days and we have a team that is busy with their real lives so it takes some time.. But don't worry we will get to them all in time.
There was a point during the first season where if I remember correctly we got so backed up there were entries from like the previous month or maybe it was a couple of months that we still hadn't judged yet, yet we eventually got all caught up around the finals so this is nothing new, it just takes us some time sometimes to get to it all done. Please bear with us, thank you.
Before we get on to the specifics of round 3 I wanted to mention that @ecoinstar will be donating 100 shares of steembasicincome to the winner of the grand prize of our IFC contest!
Please give him some love/thanks if you feel so inclined and I hope this inspires some of you to try to win the grand prize even more. :) That's a significant amount of SBI in my opinion!
Now.. Onto the next quest!
Our third quest of the season is going to be about making a new song for the IFC!
During the first season @bashadow entered some lyrics about our game and community into a quest about "music" and ended up winning the round. After that he got in touch with a musician here on steem named @edprivat and together they created an awesome piece of IFC history!
This time edprivat might be being joined by @katrina-ariel if she's not too busy so we will hopefully have some female vocals as well!

I know I wasn't the only one who fell in love with the song, there were many in our community who did and it even ended up getting featured on one of the steem mixes @soundlegion created.
You can listen to the first song if you want to get a better idea.
Feel free to also mention what kind of style you would like the song to be and you can also include video links from YouTube or whatever that are similar to what you would like it to sound like to help give the musicians more info to work with when they create the song.
I imagine this round will probably come easier to players who were here during the first season of our contest as they are much more familiar with the culture and community.. However, please don't let that stop you from trying! Maybe you'll come up with the winning lyrics if you try!
I personally think it would be cool if you find a way to incorporate our new crystal castle spaceship and exploring the universe into the song. :)

I have not asked all previous sponsors yet if they will support us this season however so far we have received support and 10steem from @underground and I have confirmed that @ats-david and @krnel and @timcliff and @steemcommunity will also be supporting us again this season.
Underground, ats-david, krnel, timcliff, and steemcommunity are all witnesses, so if you support what we are doing here at the IFC please look into them and give them a vote for witness as well. By the way to vote for ats-david you should vote for his @ats-witness account.

The challenge will finish after 7 days when the post ends and provides its payout cycle or when all entries have been submitted.
25% of the post payout goes to curation and after that what's left will now be split up 75% to the winner of the round and 25% to put towards building up the @ifc account.
For those who play via email.. This will be recorded and saved for you, and.. If you're unwilling to make your own steem account we will at some point be willing to convert it for you to whichever currency however.. Not for small amounts, you must earn at least 10 steem for us to take the time to do this for you.

1. Round 3 of season 2 starts now and the subject is "Making a new IFC song".Create a blog post on steem for the contest or send an email if you are playing via email.
Title of blog post or subject of email must contain, "IFC S2R3"
Leave a link to your post in the comments below unless you are playing via email in which case myself or someone else will do so. (This part is important and a lot of people forget this, please put the blog link in the right place so our judges can find it)
And you also have to use the #ifc tag in your blog post as well unless you are playing via email.

Ah, that's a bummer in my opinion as I was really looking forward to see what you might come up with since music is such a big part of your life. Oh well! It is what it is. Thanks for letting us know. And.. Yeah I wonder too! Though I have a feeling it will be many less tie breakers since each judge now has 3 votes, so I think it'll probably be a lot less likely to get tie breakers this time around.
I will be traveling this week and i dont know how much internet access I'll have so I may not be able to put in an entry for this round. I dont know how well I would do with lyrics and song anyway. I am hoping that i will be able to read them and comment this week. Good luck to those you are able make an entry!!

Understood! Thanks for letting us know. And that's good timing if you're unsure about how well you would do with making a song and you happen to be busy this week as well. Though just to try to encourage you to give it a go anyways if you do end up happening to have some time I would like to let you know that @bashadow the guy who created our first song had never created a song before that either, it was his first time and he told me he was pleasantly surprised that he ended up winning that round with no prior experience, he even ended up getting a real nice compliment from a professional musician afterwards as well. :) So you never know! Sometimes going out of your comfort zone to try something new might teach you something about yourself and what you're capable of that you didn't know before.

You raise good points. I will keep thinking about it and try to give it a go if I get a chance. So to clarify, I'm just creating the lyrics and if the song writer likes them then they would decide how to sing them and put music to them? I dont know much about this sort of thing. I'm definitely not a composer. Lol

Word! Glad to hear you will consider giving it a go. And to answer your question, you don't have to request a style or link any similar sounding YouTube vids if you don't want to. That's optional. The main thing is just coming up with some lyrics, that's what bashadow originally did.
However if you want to request a certain style or add some YouTube links to show what you would like it to sound like we can do that and @edprivat told me that himself on discord that he can try to make it sound a certain way if contestants give him more information in regards to such. Hope that helps answer your question!

This is an excellent round. I know some of you may be doubting your talent as a songwriter, don't allow that fear to stop you from trying. Sure, there will be someone "judging" your entry but as you may see we are not judging you as a person. I know since joining @apolymask in the @ifc life has changed for me in so many ways, but this community has only been one of encouragement and compassion. I love the IFC song, and it is the true meaning of what the IFC stands for. @edprivat did a fantastic job singing @bashadow's lyrics. I loved how it turned out, and bashadow didn't have a prior songwriting background. I sincerely hope anyone who wants to give it a try, will! You don't have to know everything about the IFC to create something EPIC! Use your imagination and take us on a journey in our new castle. If you feel you are not able to write a song, maybe draw something or create some graphics that could be used for a video?
Well said charisma! :) I hope your words help some of the players who may have been uncertain and I was happy to see what you said about how the IFC has changed things for you as well and how our community is full of so much encouragement and compassion! A large part of that is you and your presence here and your compassion and encouragement.
The first song was so awesome and they did do a wonderful job with it, I can't wait to see what the second one ends up being like!

So sorry for the late reply! I got a bit behind myself this past week, but I am feeling much better!
It's true everyone, whom we have had the pleasure of "meeting" through the IFC, has been so helpful. I have spent many nights/days reading the interactions within the posts and I know the group of people who kept the IFC going last season were full of encouragement! Although the helper rounds never did as well as the others, the helpers we have met have something that is hard to find in people, and that is compassion! I love being a part of the IFC and now that all the mess i call life is straightened up I can give me full attention as I did in the last season! Can't wait to get to it! I have yet to go through the posts, but I have the whole day ahead of me and would like to get caught up on all my votes!
No worries friend. I'm pretty stressed and overwhelmed at times myself so I can totally relate and I'm grateful when you can find the energy and time. That's a good point about the helper rounds even if they didn't get as much participation they still helped to show us who some of the good quality people are.
Glad to hear you love being a part of the IFC also, I'm sure I'm not alone when I say that we love having you here with us. And yeah looking forward to talking to you more in general and also specifically about the Facebook idea and trying to some people from the gaming groups over there I think that might be really helpful! Wow the song from the first season is amazing great work @bashadow I don't think anyone can top that especially me feel a little embarrassed writing an actual song with no prior experience whatsoever but still I'll try my best and the challenge looks kind of fun.
That is how I felt pretty much when I Just Went For It. One thing about the IFC, it pretty much lets people think outside the box, get out of their comfort zone, and just do with no repercussions. Along with the song, I found the meme challenge to be way outside of my box.

Also maybe trying to "top" it shouldn't be the way to look at it, maybe just try to compliment it.. Sorta like different flavors of soda.. Even though we have Coke there's still room for Pepsi and Mountain Dew and Sprite and Dr Pepper and on and on and on, who could say which is the best? It comes down to opinion and sometimes one might like them equally or at different times. Also I wouldn't worry about not having any experience bashadow didn't either! I'm pretty sure that was the first song he ever wrote. Glad to hear you'll give it a shot! Good luck and I'm looking forward to seeing what you do. :D

I had a lot of fun trying to wrack my brain around a song last year, I may try to do so again, not real sure at this point. However that being said, I want everyone to know that I really enjoyed the entire post process, if not the thinking part, I was rather pleased with @edprivat's turning my little lyrics into a song.
So there is help out there, you don't need to write the score, you don't need to know anything about songwriting, (I certainly did not). You just need to stretch your words out, imagine them as a song, and the pro's like Ed take care of the rest from your prompts and cues.
So I am sending 5 Steem tp @ifc, to be given to winning entry for this round. If I should happen to do a song, and Lightning miraculously strike twice then that 5 steem can be used as @IFC/apolymask, see's fit. (I likely will not have an entry, but you just never know when something will bite you in the ass and well you just have to jump when that happens).
Understood! Thanks for leaving your thoughts bashadow. I hope you will give it a go but I totally understand if you don't. It's nice to give others a chance as well, but this is a competition and you did do a really great job last time! So I do hope that you try again. Anyways.. Glad you also mentioned the other stuff in regards to composing, it's definitely not a requirement to mention the style or add any links to try to help the musicians with how to perform it, that was a new idea that edprivat gave me recently on discord so I added it in there as an option for anyone who may want to get a lil more detailed with their entry and efforts. But in the end, all anyone really needs to do is come up with some good lyrics!
Also thanks for the 5 steem donation! That's awesome of you. If you do end up playing and happen to win I will put it towards the next round or.. Perhaps the grand prize of the whole contest. :)

Yeah, like I mentioned, you just never know, and I did not want to rule myself out of making an entry, I will see where the week takes me, I don't think I missed a single entry last year, so I may still try like heck to get one thought of.
Hmm.. Yeah.. You know.. I can't remember a single round you missed either, maybe you did as I don't remember ALL of the details.. But I do think you may have participated in every single round and if so that's pretty awesome! You did such a good job the first season I'd be curious to see what you come up with this time if you find the time to play. :) I guess time will tell! And if you do happen to win again this time I think you sure will be developing quite the reputation as a great song writer. :D

Was wondering if you knew the round was going on or not, I was thinking about messaging you to let you know. Guess I should have! But then again I suppose part of the challenge is staying on top of it and those who do have a better chance at winning the grand prize. That's cool! Glad to hear it. :) And yeah I agree.. It's good to try new things as long as there's no victim being unjustly harmed in the equation in my opinion. Shouldn't even need to be said and I'm sure you would likely agree though I tend to be very umm.. I go out of my way to make sure my language is very specific. Anyways.. I'm glad you're glad to join us and also I'm glad that you're joining us on the journey as well! Hopefully we all have a really fun adventure together regardless of who wins the grand prize. :)

I agree, it would be good to have more players. It's been pretty quiet on our discord as well.
I need to do a better job of advertising and getting the word out about our game more. Been meaning to do some radio shows though been super busy in my personal life and behind on things I need to do, but still plan on doing some at some point when I can.
Youhavewings notified me that she doesn't plan on playing this season, but she wants to help in some manner I think she may be doing some guest judging? I'm not sure I haven't seen her around other than a comment she left on the first round. And kryptocek has said he is very busy but plans on participating at some point during the season when he can.
Anyways.. Looking forward to reading your entry in a moment here! As a musician yourself with prior experience I have a feeling this is going to be a good one! :D
Well it's good you're still hearing from them. I think the participation we're seeing is an overall decline in the entire steemit community. This whole crypto-currency thing still baffles me but I do have some experiencing with investing. Seems to me now is when people should be getting and staying active on steemit because if and when the price does go back up the accounts will increase commensurately. Like they say, buy low sell high.
I totally agree with pretty much everything you said. I think if bitcoin/steem went up tomorrow people would be flocking back like crazy and things would be popping, and yeah.. When the value is low it's some of the best times to be collecting crypto from what I've heard.. Also from my own personal research it looks like a lot of people think bitcoin will jump up again in another year or two, so.. it might be a while.. But I'm optimistic that it will go back up and those people who stick through it during the hard times will likely benefit a lot because of it. However in the end I dunno what will happen, maybe it'll never go back up like before.. This is new uncharted territory and I'm definitely no expert.. But I do feel optimistic about it in a longterm sense.
