It's Great to be Back! Moving On and Upward with HIVE!

in #filmmaking4 years ago

Hi again everybody! I'm really excited to be given the chance to post again. The changes are great. I'm so thankful to the Witnesses and others who invested the effort to make HIVE happen. Kudos to your hard work.

Now, it's up to us 'Hivers' to make the best of this new opportunity. So post thoughtful original content yourself, upvote the original content of others, and curate the platform. But most of all "comment". Commenting is the glue that binds and builds your community.

Look for my next blog on the current status of our short film, 'The Order of Things to Come' - the ‘first film ever fully funded with rewards earned on the blockchain’. Following will be blogs dedicated to the world of filmmaking, screenwriting, producing, directing, cinematography, acting, and crewing.

Here's a shot of the 'Order of Things to Come' Director giving notes to the lead actors.

awesome Brian! cant wait to see the film :)

We saw this movie at Krakau 2018 (Steemfest³)
cheers

nice! it looks great! Can I see the full thing online somewhere?

Hey Basil! Great to hear from you. I hope all is well with you and yours - stay safe! The film will be posted eventually but for the next year or two, we will be submitting it for presentation to American Film Festivals and then to European Film Festivals. It did great on the Canadian Film Festival Festival circuit. But unfortunately, a requirement for submission to all Film Festivals is that the film has not been distributed or posted for public view anywhere. Are you doing any acting or singing currently?

Yeah you've got to adhere to those old film festy rules! Ill be patient..... but let me know if it gets in to a uk festival!
I was doing a lot of street theatre last year but I ended up screwing my voice up from too many shows so when the lockdown hit I was still in recovery from that. I was actually starting to do a demo for an album Ive written too but Ive only just recently started singing again and honestly, the old pipes are not back to 100% yet for sure!
Its been kind of lovely though. Ive been focussing on mediation a lot and really starting to learn the meaning of 'dropping the mask!'
Best wishes to you and yours over there! Ive been trying to grow a Canadian maple tree for a few years and its finally starting to make some progress.... hoping for some of that syrup some day!hehe

"Dropping the mask!" Going to places most dare not go! That's what it's all about both in acting and singing. Rest the pipes but you should exercise them as well, but do it without full vocals. I trust you're staying safe and free from COVID! Great speaking with you again. If you're interested join my Filmmaking community. It's the first place I go to keep in touch on posts.

Engagement with other content is incredibly important, especially when we find someone new. Whether they are new to the chain or just new to us, comments create conversation opportunities, and conversations build community.

Interesting. I wonder how prosperous just 25 HIVERS with the same interest could be by committing to reading/watching/listening and upvoting the other 24's posts on a regular basis, the percentage of the post based on your evaluation of the impact of the post. It doesn't take 100's to be successful on HIVE. For what it's worth!

HIVE.D!

Thank you for this post @brian-rhodes! You're one of the very few artists out there who truly understands the nature of this technology and what it's capable of changing for all of us. Looking forward to your future films and other works. HIVE.ON!

Thank you frankbacon! Any relation to Kevin? Ha! I'm following you now looking for some good stuff. Keep it up!

Greetings!
:)
@tipu curate

And back to you as well. Thanks for reaching out.

I love seeing some of my favorite blockchain users/posters being active again here on HIVE!!! Looking forward to eventually seeing your film. Cheers to you @brian-rhodes!

Following you now. Gotta keep an eye on what you're doing! :)

Thanks @brian-rhodes! I'm all about still photography but I of course appreciate motion film too. My son is actually a film student in college. He was supposed to have an internship this summer in LA but things are a bit challenging right now... He's home for summer instead. Hope you're having a great weekend!

Is your son on HIVE. Was he on Steem? Is his name Kane?

YUP! @enak (Kane) is my son. He doesn't really go on steem or hive anymore, but that's him. He's produced a couple short films since he was active on steem back in the day. I tried to find a link but he doesn't post them online. Pretty much straight A's in film school so far. 2 years down and 2 more to go before he's done. Proud Papa here.

Wow! Congrats! Give him my best.

He said thank you.

It's great to be back. There's so much to get caught up on but digging in.

Great to have you here.

Thank you. I'm looking forward to getting set up again and moving forward.

Welcome to Hivelandia!

Thank you. It's good to be back.

Welcome back, Brian! I've started a Filmmaker's Community. Would love for you to participate and share your progress and work!

Check it out!

Hi goes the battle. Good to be back. I will check it out! Congrats.

We need to follow each other. I just realized what you meant about a Filmmaker's Community. I started a community called Filmmaking. I'll use your Filmmakers keyword in my posts!

Hey Brian, good to see you back on Hive. It's been a wild ride over the last few months. I have hopes that Hive can be all that Steem should have been.

It seems forever since we watched your movie in Krakow. I hope lots more people get to see it. I guess standard film festivals are out of the question for a while.

Thanks Steevc! The film was on the Canadian Film Circuit throughout 2019. Once the COVID 19 settles and we see what's going to happen, we will be entering into US Film Festivals this year and then Europe next year. For Hive it could be great. Hoping it will build a following of those attending the Festivals. I'll keep you posted. And yeah! it's been blistering the last free months. I'm so glad we had Witnesses with the courage to forge ahead. I'm not a tech person so I was on the sidelines biting my fingernails. But the timing couldn't be better. The best part of it all is Ned and the boys are gone. I must admit I loved them dearly but that block of ownership was problematic. HIVE has a future and we get a second kick at it! HA!

It's great how the community pulled together. Lots of sour grapes from those who didn't get any Hive, but they picked their side. It's sad to see Steem crash and burn, but I have moved on.

Good luck with the film.

To me, it's like moving on and up. Some don't see the potential but overall it was a solid move to maintain the integrity of the platform. I don't think some realized the problems of the change to Justin Sun and Tron. Truthfully it was not much different than having Ned at the helm but he had a stake in the early building of Steem and was committed to taking it on its planned trajectory. But as happens in life he lost his effectiveness - a young man trying to learn as he went along and it didn't work out. But Mr. Sun was a completely different kettle of fish. It had to change to stay the same. And now it's time to take it forward.

So glad to see you back, Brian. I can't wait to see your film!

Thanks Eric - still getting things set-up. Powered down all the Steem from my Steem account to pay for the making and marketing of our film so I can keep the tag "the first professional film ever to be fully funded from earnings on the blockchain - couldn't earn enough by posting to keep up. So starting from scratch but loving it.

That sounds like a wonderful use of that Steem, Brian! Exciting!

I'm starting a travel channel with what's left of mine. I'm still fine-tuning the concept of it and deciding on the camera I want to buy. I had one all picked out and then Sony released this one: https://www.theverge.com/2020/5/26/21270193/sony-zv-1-camera-vlogging-rx100. It seems ideal for vlogging.

A ZV-1 Vlogging Camera! Cool. It sounds very adaptive. Nice close-up lens, solid mic options, very handable, filtering! t looks great! And with the wind guard, it looks like a little mouse! :)

You're right! Maybe I'll call it Mickey. ; ) I hope it'll be a good camera to begin with. If I enjoy vlogging I may upgrade eventually.

Well, it's certainly made for YouTube. It sounds like it's got all you would need for vlogging. Don't even think of moving up. I bet you if you master this camera you will be happy with it for years and years! :)

Thanks for the input! I was so happy to find it because it's a few hundred dollars cheaper than the others I was considering. Many of the new generation YouTubers are just using action cams (GoPro, Sony, etc) because of their more compact size but very few of them offer screens so you can't see what you're shooting.

Welcome back, @brian-rhodes.

Thanks! It's great to be back. Looking forward to staying in touch. Lot's to do.

Greetings from a fellow user who also plans on making an animated miniseries someday. (We'll talk it over as soon as circumstances permit; you'll find hints and previews across my feed.)

Cool. I look forward to contributing all I can to help you move forward on the miniseries - writing, acting, producing, direction, just ask. It's never someday. Today is always the day to start.

Just so you know, it's got talking animals; set in the Caribbean; and based on my yet-to-be-realised book (whose first 1,000 words will surface anytime in the coming weeks). Main characters are a preteen raccoon and his solenodon sidekick, for starters.

Ha! Ha! Do you have a publisher?

My own public-domain label, now branded as Constant Noble.

A very impressive-sounding name. It rings of sophistication.

Used to be called Constitution, after the state nickname of Connecticut (where I started it for a brief spell in the early 2010s; I'm now based in Florida).

Just for fun: The first four words of this reply translate to the one-word Plénaumtenat in my recently reawakened conlang of Tovasala/Relformaide.
