Hello everyone, my beautiful hive naija people, it's another beautiful weekend and we are so happy to have you here once again to make the engagement fun as always. It's so sad that for some weeks now the engagement hasn't been as it used to be and we are really thinking of how to revive the hangout and I think it's not out of place to discuss about this for this weekend. I know it's not always easy to be consistent here but I do think that there may be something we are not getting right and it is always wise to put heads together.
OBJECTIVE
As we all know, the Hive Naija Weekend Engagement is focused on promoting the togetherness of the Nigeria brethren together through engagement and it's also now concerned of the well being of each and everyone who is part of the engagement. This account was opened to make the engagement more personal and official you can find the INTRODUCTION POST to read more about the purpose and aim of this new account and also do well to follow the account so as to know when a post is made.
Last week, the topic was "2023 NIGERIA ELECTION"
We had over 160+ comments last week which was great despite the fact that we had just few people who engaged, I want to appreciate you all for the consistency, quality engagement and your efforts, let's keep them coming ya all. Special thanks to everyone who makes this hang out possible.

My POV On How A Hangout Could Be Improved
A hangout is simply regarded to where people agree to meet and discuss on topical issues as it affects them or the time they live in.
I think that when an hangout is to be organized, the first thing to be done is to state clearly what your expectation from the hangout would be. When this is done, thoroughly, then inr may proceed without fear.
Allowing for people to say their minds on the issue at hand is a great way to improve the hangout. From human psychology, people feel free and welcomed when their perspective in a discourse is respected. So, when people say a particular statement, whether it is true or not, your response must not negate them directly.
On the other hand, the reward system (if any) you be on merit. Giving out reward to discussants in a hangout is yo encourage participation. Even though the reward is at thee discretion of the organizer, it must have a controlling factor for the choice of who gets what. I have been in one hang out here on hive where the organizer said openly that he gives the reward base on his personal wish to anyone he wishes. But my take on that is that the organizer rather not add a reward system if it will not be base on merit.
In addition, topical issues that affects the particular time should be brought in from week to week. The topic could be from national issues, politics, education, finance, social issues like marriage, crime and so on. Since the hangout has a n age bracket as it target, topics that affects such age bracket should be on the discussion list.
In addition, when results of the week's discussions are released, everyone who has taken part should be mentioned. It is away of getting feedback.
The reward system may not be easy to follow through because of finance, as such, partnership is welcomed. The hangout could partner with brands to get rewards dishes out to discussants on different levels and on a weekly basis as sponsored by the partners.
I think, with these, the hangout hope to be successful.

Yeah that will be nice and that's why it's always mentioned that people should bring up topics for discussion but sadly nobody has done that except for @quduus1 but that was a long time ago.

I will love to stress on this part: names of all participants should be mentioned while announcing the result. Some people may be discouraged after participating for weeks without hearing anything about results. Without the notification, many won't get to see it and they will be wondering where the outcome of their time went

Don't really know what went wrong because there used to be a time if I stay a minute to comment I would come to see tons of comment.
But then I think what's affecting is how it can be hard for people to get upvotes these days which led some to staying off hive theses days and this really affect our weekly hang out.
So here is the thing maybe we get to be familiar and connect back with ourselves through post I mean be connected to everyone that is always tagged on this post you know comment and reblog and if you can upvote fine not really necessary just connect back.
With that we keep the vibe and come back every Friday to our weekly hang out.
That should help revive.

Seriously, I have been trying to reach out to the threads but I can't find it. It seems my phone is making it more stressful getting to contribute. My system could have helped me easily but it's down.
What problem is that? Is it with your Keychain? I heard threads were down for some time but it's up now.
Threads is for your own benefit though, so you should find a way around it. It's not as hard as you see it.
The idea is to share your thoughts on leothreads. You know on threads you can thread under your own thread if it's long so I don't think that is really an issue.
When you make your suggestion here, all you have to do is copy it and also share it on threads using the #samhangout and #leothreads, then share the link here 🙂. I don't know if you get it.

Well for my little suggestion, I think it will be a good idea to delegate the duty of choosing each weekend's topic of discussion to different people, especially those that are consist and the person chosen will also be in charge of choosing that week's winner. This will make everyone feel welcomed just as @kilvnrex suggested.

Nice suggestions from everyone. I would also like to give my little opinion too. This hangout is a great one because it connects us to other users while hearing their views concerning the related topics being given. It also boosts engagements here on Hive which is great.
So, I would like to add that perhaps a poll should be out with random topics where people would cast a vote to choose the next topic for the weekend.
OR
People should be tagged individually every week to suggest a topic idea. At least this would make everyone assigned and take responsibility when it's their turn. In this way, you are putting them in the affairs of the hangout.

This week's question is a beautiful one, it's actually an opportunity for everyone to bring in their idea of what they think can make a better hangout.
Well in my own humble opinion
How to run a hangout, first I will have a goal and what exactly I want to achieve in the hangout. Coming to hive which the main reason is to build the community and also a way to encourage people to grow. I think a discord group chat should be created so we can be sending in our topic and at the end of the week, the best and preferred topic will be picked and used for the week's hangout.
Secondly people should be rewarded based on the effort they have put in. If we want to grow a system then people should be given a task to accomplish and a way to also contribute our ideas, money and time for the growth of the system. This is the way to also make people grow and be serious in what they are doing, when the work let them be rewarded according to the effort.
The thing that will get especially young people to be consistent about a thing is fun, let the topic be fun and interesting to play around with and also a means to learn and grow and also earn, yeah we can introduce games for the fun and the winners get to earn something tangible. This is my humble opinion thanks.

MY SUGGESTION
Since it is a hangout, we can make it live even on the Blockchain. What I mean is, if we can get the actual time the hangout post would be uploaded. The writer makes it short, but every commenter is on ground to express their view instantly. Not within a space of two days but that moment.
We can also have added channel on discord where we all type simultaneously and the writer's voice is heard. If he wants, some other people who believe strongly that they need their voices heard than just typing the words out can also use the voice channel to talk.
