Like most of us, from an early age I was very interested in music. I remember as a child sitting in front of my parents' Console in the twilight of the day just as we were getting ready to go to sleep or on the weekends. The peculiar sound of Lp Records – a sound that today’s CDs can only try to match. The warmth and fidelity of the sound made me feel as if the band’s musicians were right there in front of me. I remember very well that when listening to the records I closed my eyes with the intention of enjoying the music, but also with the intention of identifying the instruments of the band. I can only describe the sensations I felt back then as a lullaby for the soul.

Two sounds in particular caught my attention. Like most kids – the sound of Drums was one of them. The other was the sound of the saxophone. The warmth of the instrument fascinated me to such a degree that it has stayed with me to this day. The impact of sound was so great that I took advantage of the first opportunity I had to learn music. However, my first instrument was not the saxophone but the guitar. Later on, I continued with piano lessons, drums, harmonica, and finally the saxophone. The saxophone was the last of the instruments that I learned to play mainly because of the costs involved with it, but also because I did not have access to a proper saxophone teacher. So I learned as an adult. Today I can say that he caught me from the first time I took one in my hands. I can still remember the time I was able to emit the first notes with him!

Today I dedicate more time to the guitar, however my first musical love is still the Bb Saxophone. In fact, for a couple of years, I was part of a Jazz ensemble. The sound that the different wind instruments emit mixed with the percussions and other instruments is simply fantastic. Being in front of the audience is obviously very satisfying, however, the stage and lights are just the end result. It all starts with the many hours and months of practice. It all starts there where there is no audience to applaud. As in any band, the goal is to harmonize and produce a euphony, which is only possible when every member of the orchestra plays the same musical scores, when each individual makes an effort to work as a team – and obviously when they enjoy the music. Ultimately it is essential that EVERYTHING in UNITY pursue the same GOAL. Otherwise, the only thing the audience will experience on the day of the concert will be a cacophony.

Why am I telling you that? Because I think that the same principles that a musical ensemble applies to produce a Euphony are valuable to be applied to all areas of life. It doesn't matter if we are talking about an orchestra, a soccer team, or a team developing a new product, the family, a neighborhood, a company, or society in general. If the members of a group are arrogant, stubborn, and convinced that the scores and the way they are playing are the right way the results will be simply catastrophic. On the other hand, if two or more people are convinced that it is not about shining individually but about succeeding together – no matter how demanding the challenge maybe – work together towards the same goal accepting compromises that benefit everyone – then and only then – the end result will be like a lullaby for the soul.

You're welcome @acgalarza, that's a real pleasure! Congrats on this and keep going like this 😊👍

Love this; great words and analogies! Inspiring to read of such talent too...I've always wished I could play an instrument; how amazing that you can play so many. I look forward to reading more.

Hola @resiliencelouise and thank you for your words of appreciation! I don't know if I'm talented, but I do love playing music tough! 😉

By the way, never is too late to learn to play an instrument. The first instrument is the hardest to learn, but after that, it gets easier and easier.

Best regards!

That's some talent you've got, being able to play these many instruments, wow! Bravo👏

Good morning, @queenstarr and thank you for the compliment!🤗

I enjoyed reading you
I love your descriptive skills

Thank you, @sperosamuel15 , that is very kind of you! I'm glad you liked it! Hearing that gives me strength to keep on writing.

I think you hit on a key point here, and although I never was in a band or orchestra, many of my friends were, and I saw how it changed the way they thought. Taught them cohesiveness that I lacked myself at the time.

I learned guitar in later life and can sometimes find myself drifting away into another mode of being when playing, but mostly now that happens for me writing fiction.

And although it may seem not to be relevant to someone who writes novels, the same is still true. The characters must all act based upon their character traits in a certain way to create a kind of cohesive picture. Even in points of conflict, the resolution must be found, or at least searched for, to make the story work.

Anyway, I'm glad I saw your post on the dreamport PYP show and have followed you now 🙂

Yes, most definitely being part of a group working towards a common goal changes the individual on many levels. Hopefull good levels! 😉 And yes, to be able to produce music, books - or anything for that matter - is very much a sort of spiritual experience.

Again, I think you are right. Harmony must exist in all parts of what we do. Sometimes we are part of a whole and sometimes we produce something with many parts. In a watch for example - or a novel with many characters and drama like the those you write - there must be harmony among the parts. Beautiful analogy, thanks!

I also enjoy your PYPT meeting today and I'm looking forward to next week. I have also just followed you!

@samsmith1971 Thank you for upvoted me! I really need to know more about the VYB Curation Project.

You can find out all about it on the VYB.VYB and VYB.HUB accounts. It is a relatively new community, still in testing phase, but which sits alongside and complements the Proof of Brain community. More updates should be out soon.

Thanks, @samsmith1971 , I will check it out!

Best regards!

Most excellent writeup @acgalarza, you are correct to a point in most formal symphony orchestras or bands, but one of the greatest rock bands always tried to outdo each other, and that band was Cream, who has been around since the 1960s. Even though they tried to outdo each other, they wound up sounding fantastic and set many records.
I play a guitar, myself, and enjoy it.

¡Oh wow! I didn't know that fact about Cream. Too bad, isn't it! They were a great band on their own terms, even with such internal conflicts, imagine what would have been having they chosen to lift each other to their maximum potential.

Well, well, well, you play guitar! Awesome fellow musician! E-Guitar, am I wrong! I play mostly acoustic. Lovely instrument - a great companion to soothe the spirit and get inspiration!

Thanks for the encouragemente!

Yes, you are wrong lol, I have the cheapest box I could find (acoustic) and I have had some pretty good guitars in the past @acgalarza. I've had this same one for about 8 or 10 years now, and my son bought me some new strings for it, and says it still plays excellent. I have had electric in the past, but they are long gone, just like my Ovation. And we do still have a set of Ludwig drums that are over at his house that he learned to play on until the music teacher stated he could not teach my son anymore, that his playing was astronomical. Pretty good until I found out he liked the guitar, banjo, mandolin, and any other oddity made hahahahahahaha!!!
