Shipping out

in The LIFESTYLE LOUNGE3 years ago (edited)

I'm shipping nowhere to be completely honest...I'm at home working due to another virus outbreak in my city. My State have handled it all pretty well so far, but cases spiked again a couple days ago and I've decided to limit my contact-hours at the office- Faith and I are still looking after her mum after her recent cancer operation so getting sick isn't an option. It's ok though, I don't mind working from home and am able to effectively do my job no matter where I am.

Something is shipping out though...In fact, has shipped out as it turns out, just today. In the image you can see an arrow pointing to a parcel box, one that embarked on a long journey today with the intention of reaching Arizona, USA at some stage in the not too distant future.

Some time ago I made a comment on a post by @sjarvie5 about some photos she'd taken saying they would make a good calendar...As it turns out, she agreed, made the calendar and also decided to send me one in the post. It arrived here in Australia several weeks later along with some snacks she'd packed in for me too. Yay Sara, you champion.

Of course, it was always going to be a gesture I returned and today, after gathering some stuff together over the last week or so, I sent the parcel. I would have liked it to get there before Christmas but it's doubtful - Australia Post suggested that it would be there, sometime...An indistinct time based on the fact America is somewhat of a shambles right now apparently. (I wouldn't know, I'm not there.)

What's in the box?

Well theres some of this, a couple of that, one of those, and a thingy or two. That's not very clear I know, but I'd rather Sara open it and see for herself and if she wants to share it through a post she can. Don't worry Sara, I didn't send a live koala...Or did I? There's a letter explaining a couple things too...Feeding instructions for the koala.

The centrepiece of my gift, besides the koala I may or may not have sent, is some handmade things my mother in-law made which I thought would add a more personal touch.

After her cancer operation a couple years ago, and the subsequent chemotherapy, she suffered a lot of nerve damage in her hands and they hurt and tingle all the time. It was suggested she do something to keep them moving and so she does some craft things, which is what I put in there. She donates them and sells a few here and there but it's more for the hand-movement benefit. It's difficult for her to do this sort of thing so they are not perfect, but I guess that doesn't much matter right?

Of course, I put some other things in there and I think Sara will have a good time journey of discovery working her way through them. I focused on Australian things that are probably not available where she lives.

So, Sara's package shipped out today and will leave Australian shores forever within a day or two then make its way to the United States of America and the legit hiver called @sjarvie5. Check out her profile if you have not already.

I'm still contemplating making up a few care packages from Australia to send to some hivers around the world but I'll wait until the new year when hopefully the postal services are back to normal - It might be cheaper too. I'm not sure how I'll determine who gets one, but I'll come up with something...Maybe you have a suggestion for me? Comment below.

EDIT: G-dog and Faith definitely won't be shipping out, the government just announced lockdown here an hour ago do to the pandemic. Here we go again y'all.

P.s. The shipping out title came from the fact I took the photo of the package with one of my dad's paintings in the background, one of tug boats. See what I did there?

Stay well mate. We had an increase here. Big surprise. It's flu season. WTF did these idiots think was going to happen? It's flu season, of course the infection rates will go up. Propagating the cloth mask false sense of protection, leaving the most frequently infected areas, schools, airports, sporting functions open of course are going to result in higher levels of infection and "overwhelm" the healthcare facilities that have now had over six months to staff up and prepare, but have done nothing based on false media hype of cloth masks protecting people. And of course any flu variant will now fall under covid metrics to garner more money for the greedy hospital executives. Meanwhile they continue to restrict and close small businesses which pale in comparison to the larger exposures to big retail like walmart and costco, etc. How about we close the big boys with big wallets and let the small business owners struggling to survive and support their children that actually pose minimal risk continue to run their business? This has become a political nightmare in the U.S. with both parties trying to leverage while they ignore the average person and small business owner.

Wow. Sorry for the rant, can you tell I'm spun up about the stupidity?

Spun up... But also right on target. Well said and True Story. I... Uhm. My cat did a rant last weekend about the same things... see it here... https://peakd.com/caturday/@krazzytrukker/caturday-confusion

Wow, great post. I may steal some of that great info! Someone or some group is definitely behind this. I'm generally skeptical of conspiracy theories, but way too much coincidence going on here.

Don't worry about the rant, I'm ready to tee off myself. They just announced lockdown here 20 minutes ago. Masks mandatory outside the house, only one person allowed out to get supplies, no exercise, sport, schools, pubs, clubs, restaurants, cafes, etc. All closed...Including my wife's business. It's going to be massive with more announcements to come yet, later today. I've got my last appointment in 2 hours, an army Colonel mate of mine, and I called to give him the chance to cancel but it's all good he reckons...It's ramping up though...Lucky I'm a prepper, and somewhat prepared for a lockdown...Many are not though.

This is a massive load of bullshit man, this whole thing...But the billionaires become trillionaires and so on...

That's a just a cool thing. I'm glad it is going to make it to within a couple of hundred miles of me. That's close in Arizona (or Australia) terms. Sara is just a cool person it just tickles me.

I think I'd like to play, too. Maybe we could come up with some sort of pool of people... I can think of a few I'd like to send some stuff to. It'd be great fun finding Arizona specific stuff. Cactus needles are always good.

I just watched a docco about the zoo in Sydne and their breeding program for endangered species. Did you know that they sent a platypus pair to San Diego zoo which is the only living pair outside of Aus? I may have to go over and see them in a year or two. After the CV. It's getting pretty bad here.

So good on you. A way cool endeavor.

CV...Fuck I'm sick of that shit. So over it.

Thanks mate, it's a cool concept I think, but of course requires willing participants happy to forward a postal address. I had you in mind for some stuff but would be cool to open it up somehow to see who wants to play. That's all I did last time...Made it simple, stick your hand up if you want a package from G-dog. I'll do something different this time...Maybe a post in the engage the weekend community about why each person wants to get a package and what community and cultural exchange means to them? Might work.

Well see.

Yeah, I may have seen that same doco, or one like it. It's interesting there's just those two out side of Australia.

I've seen platypus in their natural environment which is quite rare. A place called Finch Hatton Gorge in Queensland, not too far from Mackay (pronounced McEye). Pretty cool man, but you have to be quiet.

Let's put our thinking caps on and see what we can come up with huh? For the cultural exchange.

You know? I probably won't even ask @jangle because she'd send that foul poutine. But I might know a few that would be interested in this deal.

It's actually in my thinking process. For better or worse.

Lol, you and Poutine really are at odds aren't you? Lol.

Hello!🤗

I'm very sorry about the new virus outbreaks in your city. I hope everything gets better soon.🙏 Take care.💜

I imagine that in this season the shipments are crazy. 🙄
I hope you have made holes in the box so the koala can breathe well on those days of his trip. Hahaha😂😂

Maybe when I say koala it's actually just code for G-dog! Sara might get a suprise when I jump out! 🤣

Yeah, CV is ramping up here. We'll know more each day but many schools are closed, all sports and gyms are closed or not able to happen, events etc. I'm so annoyed.

Protect those who are compromised. That is what we do @galenkp. The ones we love that are already in a battle against the grim reaper are the ones this virus targets.

And then we should target the sub humans who bio engineered it and released it upon us all.

I'm gutted...Lockdown announced 15 minutes ago.

omg! Hahaha. I was rather thinking of a kangaroo inside that box. 😂😱

Be happy! 😁 if you're not, who is gonna make me laugh? 😂

Your smile would be visible from the moon! :)

Stay safe guys, we are in lockdown too and half of my family already have the virus.. it's a rough period and it breaks my heart apart but I'm trying to stay strong for them. Also, I still haven't received the package from you.. I think the stupid postal office from Romania lost it on the way again...

It's a tough time for many. We're probably reasonably fortunate in that we have a house, lots of room, and back yard to move about in. I feel sorry for those who live in smaller places, units and apartments. Not even dog walking is permitted...Makes it awkward if you're in an apartment.

Also, those who have simply had so shit businesses and send staff home...No pay. Tough times. But it could always be worse I guess.

I was hoping my package would turn up at your place...It's small though and possibly easily lost. The Post office told me that it happens, even today when I dropped this package for Sara...They said, good luck. 🙄

Awwww...that is pretty cool of you to return a lovely surprise it must be a pretty small Koala don't forget to put a couple small holes in the box so it can breath ...lol 🤣🤣

Stay safe guys

That's mostly the plan, it seems that unsafe isn't a good state to be in.

I love the painting in your picture!

Posted using Dapplr

My dad painted that.

There are a lot of places in the US that are starting to shutdown/restrict again as well. Yay for virus surges.

Yeah, I think it's far from over, but in truth, it never really looked like being over...We were in a false sense of security here, but the lockdown yesterday sure woke up a few people. (See my rant post if you don't know what I'm talking about).

Woooooow, that paining is just too much, i love it!!

Btw, i would like a Koala as a pet hahaahah they look very cute.

Thank you, it is of some tag boats moored here in the city I live. It's pretty big too, over 1.5 metres squared...Took him a long time.

You want a koala huh? They're cute little buggers...Big old claws, although good huggers. 😉

Yeah, i imagine! With the level of detail he made I know it took him a long time.

Yeah, I was afraid of the claws, hahahaha you guys don't have anything good there. Everything hurts😑🙄😒

Lol, most things want to kill you in Australia, but it's the best country in the world. It's actually not all that bad, just don't get bitten by anything deadly and you'll be fine. 🤣

ha ha ha no comments 😂😂😂
