PEACEFULL WAVES
This is a tutorial post to show you how to make this model of the ¨Marine Collection¨ ... Inspired by the beaches of the Dominican Republic, using blue colors with variations of tones and earth colors such as sand, thus incorporating textures and forms of nature and creating compositions with movement.
It is very simple, you only need a glass/plastic container, acrylic paint, white candles and candle paint (or oil paint).

Este es un post tutorial para mostrarles como hacer este modelo de la ¨Colección marina¨... inspirando en las playas de República Dominicana, utilizando colores azules con variaciones de matices y colores tierra como la arena,incorporando así texturas y formas de la naturaleza y creando composiciones con movimiento.
Es muy simple, solo necesitas un envase de vidrio/plástico, pintura acrílica, velones blancos y pintura de velas (o pintura de oleo).
The first step is to boil the container to remove the wrapping paper ( Tutorial here ).
We look for a container to melt our candles (do not melt with the wick or the metal that some of them have in their base). There are people who melt it in a bain marie, others in a pot on the stove, but since I could not mistreat any pot of my house, I decided to use a glass container and melt it in the oven, although it takes longer, it is safer.
El primer paso es hervir el envase para remover el papel envoltorio ( Tutorial aqui ).
Buscamos un envase para derretir nuestros velones (no derretir con la mecha ni el metal que algunas traen en su base). Hay personas que la derriten en baño de Maria, otras en una olla en la estufa, pero como yo no podía maltratar ninguna olla decidí utilizas un envase de vidrio y derretirla en el horno, aunque tarda más tiempo, es más seguro.
We can reuse one of the metal bases for our new candle, but if you do not have it, the child can put just the thread, so that it does not move I used a plastic circle that I found but you can simply tie the wick (basting thread) to a stick and place it on the top of the container so that it does not move.
When the wax is melted, we mix it with the pigment (I used oil paint because it didn't have wax paint, but this is recommended), if you want to add a scent you can mix it with vanilla or liquid cinnamon.
We pour the mixture into the container and wait for it to cool down.
Podemos reusar una de las bases metálicas para nuestro nuevo velón, pero si no tienes puede quedarse el hilo, para que no se mueva yo utilicé un circulo de plástico que encontré pero puedes simplemente amarrar la mecha (hilo de hilvanar) a un palito y colocarla en el tope del envase para que no se mueva.
Cuando la cera esté derretida, la mezclamos con el pigmento (utilicé pintura de óleo porque no tenía pintura de cera, pero esta es la recomendable), si le quieres agregar olor lo puedes mezclar con vainilla o canela líquida.
Vertimos la mezcla en el envase y esperamos que se enfrie.
We continued the same process for the other layers ... in my case I decided to make a gradient of a navy blue ending in a greenish blue. To achieve the inclinations, all we have to do is place a cloth on one side of the container so that the wax dries in that direction. Many interesting patterns can be created with this technique.
Continuamos el mismo proceso para las demás capas... en mi caso decidí hacer una degradación de un azul marino terminando en un azul verdoso. Para lograr las inclinaciones lo único que debemos hacer es colocar un paño de uno de los lados del envase para que la cera se seque en esa dirección. Se pueden crear muchos patrones interesantes con esta técnica.
If this happens to you, don't panic! Don't worry, you don't have to do it all over again... one technique is to wait for it to dry and carefully remove the wax with a spoon, after that we put the container at a safe distance from one of the stove, so that it heats gently and then you just have to wipe it with a napkin and it is easily stirred.
Then, we make some details with acrylic paint on the outside in my case to achieve the degradation, we first paint the darkest part below and then we add white until we achieve the degradation we want.
Finally, I painted the top edge with white paint to give it a more elegant detail.
Si te sucede esto, ¡Que no cunda el pánico! No te preocupes no lo tienes que hacer todo de nuevo... una técnica es esperar a que seque y con una cuchara ir removiendo con cuidado la cera, luego de esto ponemos el envase a una distancia prudente de una de las hornillas de la estufa para que se caliente suavemente y luego solo hay que pasarle con una servilleta y se remueve fácilmente.
Después, le hacemos unos detalles con pintura acrílica en el exterior en mi caso para lograr la degradación, pintamos primero la parte mas oscura de abajo y luego le vamos agregando blanco hasta conseguir la degradación que queremos.
Por ultimo le pinte el borde de arriba con pintura blanca para darle un detalle mas elegante.
And voila! We already have a gradient candle to add to our home decor or to use as a personalized gift for any of our acquaintances.
