Some strange companions seen next to the road on our return.
A beautiful view of the mountain in this serene and colorful farm setting.
Farmlife is abundant in our historical area and one can see some old farms that were established in the 1600s. Then of course there are also modern farms and wine estates that were built on some old farms.
So, we have a wide variety of farms that can be seen from the public roads as one travels along.
Beautiful views indeed.
The Merino sheep I know, but from a distance I thought that there was a black Merino at the back and I have never seen a black Merino sheep.
Turns out that it was a black pig that took a feeding stroll with the sheep.
A solitary Pied Crow stood here on the farm road. I think that he was telling the fence to get out of his way.
A lovely Donkey with some geese at the back.
I think that you can see that this is a Billy Goat, wiping his beard against a post.
Two imports looked at us and I think that they are Pilgrim Geese, natives of England.
Finally a lovely view as we crested the mountain pass.
One has to love nature to really appreciate mankinds co-existence with it.
Farmers are people of the soil and all of them have a very strong bond with nature and even the weather patterns. It is a natural gifting.
Years of experience have taught them how to cultivate crops suitable to the soil and how to use the natural resources of nature.
The mistakes that many make in modern times is that they want to become instant farmers and they plant products that are not suitable for the conditions, not only this, but there are also many other factors of farming that they do not know. There are many tricks to successful farming and it takes a lifetime to learn all of the ins and outs.
We applaud all of the farmers that put food on our tables.

Farm life a dream place to reside, loads of outdoor work, plenty of knowledge handed down over the years, I believe some farms use geese to eat insects around the wine plantations, now living a balanced life with nature, no pesticides needed!

Indeed a dream and we landed here on an apple farm, but circumstances changed and the farm was sold.
They train special squads of geese in the winelands to clear out the snails and other bugs.
Like you said, less pesticides that go into the ground.
Hahaha, we used to ride donkeys when I was young and we love farm animals.

we have had a sunny and hot day. Well, you might have needed a jacket and your hat, but for us it was hot in the sun :)

I didn't see anything big between the goat's legs but it is quite as hairy as one I know 🤣

I think you know that as kids we used to ride on the donkeys and yes thet hold special memories for me.

On the mountain where we have our little cabin they have had a donkey when I was young. It was used to transport all the food and to drink up because there was no road by then. This donkey was usually quite nice, but one day he got mad and bit me in my right leg. I couldn't walk for weeks and you can still see the scarfs of his teeth.
Oh, I thought you'd say "send me a photo" to compare 🤣
Our temperatures are between 20 and 28 C - it's hot 😅

I know what you mean as you are used to it and like I said before, if the people from the north visit down here at 25C, they wear thick coats as for them it's cold.
Yep a donkey can bite very sore.I am glad that you had some personal interaction with one and you must have made hin angry. So now we can call you scar leg mountain goat 🤣
We used to ride the donkeys back to back. Two of us and the guy that faced the back had the job to grab and bite the donkeys tail. Then the donkey will take off and we had to cling like the fleas on a dog 🤣
We were small at the time and fast (smart) enough to avoid donkey bites 😉
Btw. Did you fix the cabin that was damaged in the snow last winter?

Honestly, I don't know if my father has fixed the fence and the other things that were broken, but I think that he has done at least the important repairs.
