All I Have are my Words

in HiveBloPoMo2 years ago (edited)

All I have are my words, armed in my mind, written in pen, stand by stand. Oh, yes. Still by hand. It has a different feel. Altered not by keys, backspace, and delete, I write, erase, tear it to pieces and start all over again. And again.

It’s my way. I walk out to the deep end of the page and dive right in.

It’s no secret around the familial circle that I love the charm of seasonal wreaths. I decorate all the doors in my house with wreaths, most of which I have made. That is a lot of doors. Maybe it is the surreptitious meaning. Probably not. In my mind, it’s that circular shape that represents eternity, for it has no beginning and no end. The unending circle of life, if you will. There is a certain cozy feeling wrapped up in all that evergreen. It's simple and it makes everything simply delightful. I don't know where it began, or if it will ever end, but I love putting wreaths on the inside doors of my house. If you can only imagine, it is like having an instantly decorated house

Oh winter. You move closer to me, every single day. Look away! For I am not ready to give you a place to stay. I wonder what it will take to keep you far, far away? Driving through the backroads of Pennsylvania the other day, the light airy snow came down, trying to lure me in with her beauty. Dash it all! She was so lovely. And just that fast, she was gone. Rolling me back to the pumpkins. Is that possible?

A shoutout to @old-guy-photos who hosts the #treetuesday tag. Let's see your trees!

The sun showed up for morning duty, oh, for the love of getting a good dose of sun and shine, now that the blanket of cold has been pushed further into the future. Oh yes, the triviality of just how chilly it has becomes more important, but, in reality, does it matter?. Enjoy the moments, the here and now. You will find them to be absolutely extraordinary if you only let them go and be.

Flowers. There must always be flowers. Reach out and color me. Divinely so...
Pure. Joy. Affection. Caring. Sharing. Inspiring. Sweetness. Warm. Tenderness. Fun. The eternal love of a mother. My heart feels wrapped in love and tied with a bow of hugs. Just for today: Mums the word.

Colliding thoughts embrace my heart
Caressing touches upon my soul
Holding fast, the memory
Of
Once upon a time
Allowing the image of dreams to come
Then drifting away before I can see
Today is no different than any other day
Only the pieces of the game have changed

How Do I Love Thee?

How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.
I love thee to the depth and breadth and height
My soul can reach, when feeling out of sight
For the ends of being and ideal grace.
I love thee to the level of every day’s
Most quiet need, by sun and candle-light.
I love thee freely, as men strive for right.
I love thee purely, as they turn from praise.
I love thee with the passion put to use
In my old griefs, and with my childhood’s faith.
I love thee with a love I seemed to lose
With my lost saints. I love thee with the breath,
Smiles, tears, of all my life; and, if God choose,
I shall but love thee better after death.

Hey Denise.

I had a feeling that if I checked in with you, I'd find Christmas well underway. 😅

"All I have is my words."

Me too, and I just dropped a whole bunch of them ... long-winded by even my standards. First post in more than 2 years.

Quill

I gave thanks, but now it is done, time to break out the peppermint schnapps I've missed those words, well, most of them. Shhhh! Whoever called you long-winded?

Not I! Okay, but. only to your face. 😇

First post in more than two years? I'm glad that you decided to keep a hand in it, you just never know. Always good to hear from you! How are Katie and Caleb? I've missed so much! You never update!

I'm running over to see what you have!

Hey Denise.

BTW, $1.76 for a comment! I never thought I'd say this to a woman but ... you're starting to look like a ... whale! And ... it's a good look!!! 😅

Katie and Kaleb are both doing well. They're about two weeks away from finishing the 1st semester of their third year. It's hard to even grasp ... things are moving so fast. Katie has developed a hankering for Latin and so hardly a day goes by where she doesn't text me, "Did you know that the English word, XXX, is derived from the Latin word, YYY?" At first I did. I don't anymore. Katie's angling for summer lab work with her pathological microbes professor ... and the job even pays pretty well. I made an off-hand remark about her doing some gain of function research -- apparently that's not funny these days and, if I'm to vist her on campus, I need to learn to check my sense of humor.

What are the chances?

Kaleb is building rockets. His team was having problems with the ignition system so I provided some ideas. Apparently, I'm "Mr. Risky."

Aaudaces Fortuna Iuvat ... Fortune Favors The Bold.

I'm sure Katie would take exception with my translation.

Quill

Actually, mine is worth $4.25 now, but, I am at 45% power (MarketFriday sucked me dry!) so you get the baby vote. I made up for it by giving you a tipu with over $11 vote. :) Alas, I am bigger than you remember.

Le sigh.

Sounds like they are doing fabulous. Time does fly, mine are over and done with school and I keep waiting to do the triple rounds of back-to-school drop-offs in three different states, three different parts of the country and then I remember they are done, with only one in medical school (my son's wife) and one will be doing a Ph.D. program next year. I don't have to worry about the medical school, my son pays for it and she only has one year left. Latin is my daughter Sarah's favorite. The Catholic school made them all take four years and she took it in college for fun. What is wrong with these children/young adults? Katie would take exception to your translation. :)

Seems like she is excelling in everything she touches. That is so awesome and I had little doubt. :) It is always good to hear from you. I wanted to ask how you are doing/what you are doing on social media? Want me to shill this for you? :)

$4.25!!! Geez, I'm going to have to start addressing you as Madam!

Funfact (that no one but people like you and I appreciate): "Madam" is derived from the French, "Madame." "Monsieur" and "Madame" are stylized versions of the honorifics, "Mon Sieur" and "Ma Dame" ... in English, "My Lord" and "My Lady.")

Don't let it go to your head, Wigle! Err ... My Lady.

I was deliberately vague in my post about my plan as, well ... good ideas have a way of getting poached.

Voice 2.0 ... I've moved on. Ideology is driving everything and HQ seem to have little desire to appeal to anyone but the wokesters. Two years utterly wasted. Anyway, I'm waiting for a development on one of The Great Powers (very soon) before I launch as I don't want to have to compete for attention. In the meantime, I'm going to ramp up my Hive presence as I expect Hive will play an integral part of the plan.

When launch day comes, I will expect you to shill like your life depends upon it. (Just Googled "shill." Apparently, no one knows where the word originates. Huh.)

Quill

Ha! Madame has just seen this. I'll answer tomorrow., shill Quill.

Wreaths on the inner doors of a house I don’t think I have ever come across that before but I think it’s a great idea especially for one like you who loves this season so much

It is actually prettier than it sounds. You need less decoration as it really decorates up the house and it is simple. I can then take the wreaths down and hang them by a hook and pole on the ceiling of a storage room in the house.

I am liking this idea more and more

I just took a quick shot of the office door and the front door. I do all of the doors, but I'll spare you the shots!

Those are nice as is the tree you do Christmas so well

Of course, that tree is just a pencil tree for the foyer. I needed a little extra something there.

👍🙂👍

Old New Castle city folks decorate their doors with wreath's, too. It's really pretty. I love wreath's with the fresh scent of pine in them. Mmm.

These are on the inside of my house doors too. :) Click on pic. Office door and front door. I have over 20 wreaths inside on all the doors. No, it's not too muc7h
I swear!

20211130_130647.jpg

Thanks, Victor. I guess I never thought about it because Everywhere I Go come I always put a wreath on my door at Christmas time. If you go into any of the nurseries oh, they always sell them or put them together from the pieces of your tree. You can open up any LL Bean catalog and they will ship you one too! So it surprises me that so many people are surprised that I put a wreath on my door. Maybe I am than I think?

Oh, I like wreaths a lot. When my daughter was younger we used to make wreathes on our own. Alas, she has moved, and the boys are indifferent, so I end up enjoying them vicariously through others. :)

Yes! We already made this years. It's a fun project, but I only have females left at home. So, I get it.

I'm afraid that you, now, are changing a famous saying, especially among photographers (and their excuse that they can't do well with words)... A photo is worth a thousand words. I think that in your case you are demonstrating that your words, which you say you have only them (but this is just an alignment that you don't believe either) is worth a thousand photos! The interesting part here is that even your photos are worth a thousand words and, after all, it's hard to calculate how extensive your blogs are!
Decorating the house for Christmas is a pleasure and a joy, I'm glad for your joy and your childlike soul!

Oh, no! I never even thought of it that way! But. of course, you are right. I wrote that when I tried to demonstrate how I came about my words, but, now I see that it is not saying that, perhaps only to me. :)

You are right, decorating for Christmas is a real joy! I really enjoy it. This year will be a fun year as your granddaughter is old enough to enjoy the fun. That will make your soul young again. :)

Have a great day, Dan! @bluemoon

I like your tradition of having wreaths on doors, it looks so nice and I like the meaning you've given.
In Russia we don't do it, though many people copy foreign traditions and buy wreaths too.
Christmas is very close to you, so sweet time..
We'll have it 2 weeks later after you.

you decorate ALL doors in the house...so how many wreaths do you have?:)

I have 24 wreaths, 99% made by me. I made a few when I first left home and probably one a year to keep the fresh supply of them going. Plus, it is fun. I don't know but one other person who does that (puts them on the inside doors, but, it makes it all decorated instantly!

Entryway and office door. Foyer in entry. Yes 3 smaller trees. I big tree.

...and I don't break them for noone

Tony Montana, Scarface

Gotta love ole Scarface! Thanks for stopping by!

OMG, the background, article and photography- Everything is so perfect 😍. Definitely in the Christmas spirit now!!
God bless you dear @dswigle

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas, yes? Thank you so much for the great comment and thoughts.

I hope you have a wonderful day!

Yeah the first few snowfalls never last around this time of year. I actually saw some snow here in France the other day. We were driving through a small mountain range and there is was. Quite deep too. Very pretty. It turned into rain though as we drove down the mountain on the other side though. Cold rain is much less pleasant to be in. Lol

That sounds so beautiful! I wasn't expecting the snow but, it was so pleasant. When I got home, I found it was still unseasonably warm, although that is still too cold. :)

I do love the terrain of France and all the beautiful little villages, intersperse with those amazing cities.

Le sigh.

I think I just need to travel again. Thanks for stopping by!

Hello Denise. Christmas is almost near and feels like it was just yesterday. No winters here and the air is not cold. Usually early January when it is a little bit cooler. Closest I got to winter is when I visited Australia. No snow though but was really cold during that time. My lips cracked due to the weather.

Doesn't it feel that way? It surely does to me too. I know you have no winters! On one hand, that is awesome!!! On the other hand, SNOWMEN! :) Australia is cold, I think. All that cold and no snow to show for it. Yikes. I sometimes take my vacation in the middle of the winter and run away to the tropics, so warm does sound good, although I admit that I love the four seasons. But, you never have to change your wardrobe! It is a money-saver, especially if you have females!

Thanks for stopping by and leaving your words!

I would like to build a snowman hahhah. When I was young I always dreamt of playing in the snow. I would get some ice from the freezer and make it into a small snow ball. Warmth is good but not too much specially during summers when it is very hot here. I would love to experience the four seasons maybe some day. Yes you are right we don't get to spend much changing wardrobes lol.

Oh winter. You move closer to me, every single day. Look away! For I am not ready to give you a place to stay. I wonder what it will take to keep you far, far away?

I would also gladly push (at least the cold of) the winter.

Oh yes, the triviality of just how chilly it has becomes more important, but, in reality, does it matter?

If you have to be in it, then yes, of course. I feel like I tolerate the cold less and less. The current temperature is 0 °C, but my hands are already in a little pain.

Oh, yes. Hungary is bitterly cold, as I remember it. I remember it as being a little damp and that is what made it colder feeling. I also did a lot of walking there and Sweet Jesus! The wind whipped my face.

So yes. I hope you have a nice warm jacket and gloves/hat/boots for the winter.

Oh, yes. Hungary is bitterly cold, as I remember it.

We had a record cold of -35.50 °C (-31.90 °F) on 2021.02.13. This is considered cold, even in Russia/Siberia.

I hope you have a nice warm jacket and gloves/hat/boots for the winter.

I have. And I wear two pullovers and two jackets, even now.

Wow! That is a lot of clothes! I also dress in layers when it is cold, but, lighter layers as it seems to keep me warmer. I am glad that you have the proper items to stave off the cold!

I have to. I cannot stand the cold. Somehow I still could not used to the cold climate of my country (Hungary). Not even after spending 29 years in it. My hands (without gloves) were in slight pain this morning, and it was not even that cold. But even if I wear gloves, if the temperature go down to -7 °C (19.40 °F) and below, then my hands are still in pain. Yes. Even in gloves.

Try wool gloves. 100% wool will feel so much better. Also look at the clothes and pick wool pullovers, the comfort and warmth is incredible. I wear mostly wool in the winter and it is the best choice.

I did a quick check. Wool gloves are much more expensive than the gloves I used to buy, but if they are really as pleasant as you say, and my hands will not be in pain in them, then they are really worth it. I will look for 100% wool gloves. I will try them soon. Thank you for the suggestion/recommendation.

Wreath-laying at the inner door of the house. It's really cool. Your idea or choice is great. In the realm of imagination, every house will look tidy. You've done some awesome photography.

Thank you so much. The interior wreaths really look nice. I should have taken a picture to show it off. Thank you again and have a great day!

Lovely content and keep up the good work

Thank you so much. I will do the best I can.

Even all what I have is my way with words. beautiful poetry as always. thanks for sharing. :)

Thank you very much for your words. I hope you have a nice day.

Really...flowers always a flower

Beautiful pictures. Impressive articles😋

Where did these pumpkins come from? They might be in the wrong season. December is near or upon us right now. The seasons seem to be a blur to me.

What season are we in again? Oh right, step outside and even then it can be confusing at times 😀

Enjoy the moments as you say. A little frost, a little snow, you'd be surprised what still survives these weather changes.

I know I can always count on you bringing the joy. Mums the word but I'll still keep talking.

Another fun posting along with my personal Christmas counter. 25 days left? Seriously? I haven't even begun shopping yet!

The beautiful yellow chrysanthemum flowers brighten up any cold winter's day, even when surrounded with a galore of pretty flowers in my garden all my senses smiled at those flowers.
And yes Denise you so right, we must enjoy every moment of the day, they are here for a reason and will never be back again. I often think this when I wake and say 'Good morning Sunshine! 💛
