Cows, Clover and Honeysuckle

in Wednesday Walk2 years ago

It was all about the cows today. I was headed toward the battlefield where I could really expand my walk today. I loe these Hereford cows, they are friendly and easy to raise. If I was to get any cows, it would be a Hereford.I am inside his fence and they don't flick an eyelash. I could probably go up to it and pet it, but, why chance it? It's all good right the way it is. Do you live near any cows?

It's Wednesday! We are walking! As always, I want to thank @Tattoodjay for hosting the #WednesdayWalk challenge! It is a challenge that allows you to share what you see as you walk through your day. Show me where you walked today, I want to see what you got to see and hear what you have to say. If you want to do the challenge, drop him a link on his #WednesdayWalk post here, so he can try to visit yours! Whatever your day looks like, it is worth a walk-through. You can't always have sunshine and rainbows, but, you can always have a #WednesdayWalk!

Come on! What are you waiting for? We be walking! It's Wednesday. Get those shoes on and lets get out the door. No time to say hello, goodbye. I'm late, I'm late. I'm late! "I'm Late" is a song from the movie, Alice in Wonderland, sung by the White Rabbit.

I love that JJ @tattoodjay has created this day for us to get out of our comfort zone and move it around. I am moving rather slowly as I pass through the pastures and to the backside of the neighborhood. Bad timing on my part as they are just mowing some of the area I want to walk through, keeping the tall grass to a mnimum height. If I go for a walk or run early, the grass is wet with dew. You will have to pardon me if that doesn't excite me. It makes me rather wet when that happens. Have you ever walked through morning grass, still wet from morning dew? It is a natural form of water that is formed as water vapor condenses. Still, it makes me wet. Step around this corner. It is a nice day for a walk.

I have been looking forward to going this way. It is rare for it to be busy, although you won't be lonely. There are people on the trail, usually with a dog or three. Some of the dog walkers around here go here because it is interesting, with lots of different things going on. Some days, there will be tours, and the Park Rangers that man the site will give talks on the history of the area, general information about the birds and animals that are in the area, and a little tidbit of knowledge. I am always happy to bump into one of these tours. Do you like hearing information on things or do you prefer to find your own? I guess I like it both ways. I like Ranger-fed information and some things I just like to use my friend, Google.

Look up to the sky! I am always looking up, well, because you never know what you may see! I love seeing the different cloud formations splayed across the sky, I thought that it would rain today, but, burst out in this color instead. This summer has been warm, to the point of hot, day in and day out. The weather has been shifting and changing for a few years now. I almost get no snow in the winter. What's up with that, Mother Nature??

Clover-Blossom

In a quiet, pleasant meadow,
Beneath a summer sky,
Where green old trees their branches waved,
And winds went singing by;
Where a little brook went rippling
So musically low,
And passing clouds cast shadows
On the waving grass below;
Where low, sweet notes of brooding birds
Stole out on the fragrant air,
And golden sunlight shone undimmed
On all most fresh and fair;--
There bloomed a lovely sisterhood
Of happy little flowers,
Together in this pleasant home,
Through quiet summer hours.
No rude hand came to gather them,
No chilling winds to blight;
Warm sunbeams smiled on them by day,
And soft dews fell at night.
So here, along the brook-side,
Beneath the green old trees,
The flowers dwelt among their friends,
The sunbeams and the breeze.
~Louisa May Alcott

The clover acts as a natural fertilizer. I often wonder why there is clover in places where grass doesn't grow well. Just like Mother Nature knows best, clover heals soil that's nitrogen-deficient; clover takes nitrogen from the air, converts it to a plant-friendly form, and releases it into the soil. All about clover. See here

These grow wild in some places here. Not these as they were planted to make the battlefield look nice in places. Growing up in Connecticut, I remember those in the fields in the back of our house. I think that those were golden days, and I was too young to know it. I thought I lived a good life, much like everyone else thought they did too. Life was so simple then. And just like that, this post is over, come back tomorrow and we will do it again. Sorry to cut you off mid-walk, but, it is starting to rain and I am going to run back home! Goodbye!

All I have are my words, armed in my mind, written in pen, stand by stand. Oh, yes. Still by hand. It has a different feel. Altered not by keys, backspace, and delete, I write, erase, tear it to pieces and start all over again. And again.

It’s my way. I walk out to the deep end of the page and dive right in.

The Road Not Taken

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I -
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

Robert Frost

I love the shot of the cows! They are such pleasant creatures from a slight distance. I will say some can be ornery if they feel you are encroaching on their area and you dont belong!

Really look ahead on that gravel path. I saw a video where a guy in Virginia was going out to look for snakes, was walking on a same type of trail, filming his video, and stepped on a copperhead. A snake guy no less! Well they got him to the hospital and it was determined to be a dry strike. Just a reminder FWIW.

Yikes! When my kids were little and I was in Florida (in the Panhandle) I was gardening and the kids were with me, One of the kids walked near a copperhead and I took a spade and chopped his head off. I know, gross, but, I didn't want it killing my baby! :) Moms can do crazy things protecting their kids!

Love cows! Moooooo!

What a lovely walk so cool the cows seemed friendly and yes I have walked through fields where the grass is coated with dew doesn’t take long till one’s shoes are soaked through not that much fun lol

Thanks for joining Wednesday Walk :), I truly enjoy exploring the world virtually each Wednesday seeing walks from all around the globe and feeling I am there and experiencing it all myself, such as I did in your post just now :)

It really isn't, is it? It is the downside of getting out early. In saying that, we have both taken advantage of those random drops that add interest, dialing up the color or attracts the sun.

Still. Wet.

Hi, JJ! I hope you are having a great day! It has been a tad bit cooler, an enjoyable way for mid August to be!

The weekend is almost upon us!

Ohh yes it’s been so pleasant in the mornings of recent I have been loving it

the last one is absolutely !LUV

Hi, Victor!! @victorbz

I think of the back end every time I scrolled by this one. It was from the pony/horse auction last month. As always, I like to hear your take on life and living in the moment, so I will need to visit your profile for some True Grit.

Be well and have a great day! Thanks for stopping by!

!LUV

thank you darling !

That's very interesting about clover. I never realized that, but I have noticed that it does often grow in places were I would think grass should be growing. I had to get a bit wet this morning getting our trailer ready. I don't enjoy it either.

I have noticed that it does add the earth. Not take away. That in itself is a bonus to me. I used to spend hours as a kid looking for 4 leaf clovers.

Oh!! You are off camping! Now, In a few minutes, I will have to run to your profile and see where you are going. I actually never care, as long as it is in nature and there is peace to be found. And campfire cooking. Am I weird because I love it?

Nope, we love it too otherwise we wouldn't keep going! I will probably have some posts to write next week about our trip.

What a lovely walk! Thanks for sharing the photos. I don't currently live near cattle, but many years ago I did. They can be quite amusing critters.

Aren't they though? Always giving me those cow eyes! I have never lived full time near cows except our summer houses. Always in the country. They ARE amusing! I like how they follow my neighbors truck up the driveway when he gets home from work, moooing the entire time! :)

Hi @scribblingramma !! Always so nice to see you!

I love cow content. I almost always take photos of cows whenever I see them. We don't have any near our home but we see them regularly in our travels.

That's funny. I love cows, and photographing them. The qizzical look they give me reminds me how unimportant I seem to them. Lol.

Move along, human.

Do you live near any cows?
Yes I do, hehehe!
You're back neighborhood is so expansive!
Very pretty!
Just a quick hello, @dswigle !
See you tonight!

Hello! Hello! I see it is the mad dash for lunch! Enjoy!

Hi Mrs @dswigle, Very well received from a trip. For some people, a trip like yours is an ordinary trip and may not be memorable and does not provide any meaning.

But for you, you make it different. Your journey becomes an extraordinary journey when you enjoy it. You have done that with all your heart. Peace and soothing to the soul at every step of your journey.
Have a nice day

Thank you!! You have a kind way of using your words. Thank you for coming along and singing that song with me!

Have a wonderful day ahead!

Do you live near any cows?

Some of the villagers have goats, but I do not know about any cows. But maybe someone have one or more. Approximately 200 people lives in this village. The villagers keep various kinds of animals, and this currently includes me too, with my Harris's hawk, but probably I will not be a resident of this village for much longer. I have to move out of my current rent before 2022.09.10. I have not found any other place so far, where people would allow me with my Harris's hawk. Probably I will buy and live in a car.

Have you tried to call the mayor yet? I am sure itvwill get you nowhere, but it wouldnt hurt to try.

You are aboutvto become homeless, that should give you some incentive.

She was the first person I spoke to, after I received the letter, but of course I will ask her again, and I keep calling various people. I already called dozens of people every day since that, so I am constantly trying, but so far no one is willing to accept my Harris's hawk in/around their house. And I heard that some people are looking for a rent since months. I have less than one month to find a place.

I honestly think you are asking a lot of people when you want the hawk to be allowed in the house. That is above and beyond.

I think it's animal cruelty to keep an animal such as that confined in a small space, where it can't roam as nature intended.

Walking is indescribably wonderfully energising seeing what is around everywhere - up, down and side to side.
So pleased dear Denise to see that you resisted from patting the cow despite her cuteness. Must have been your intuition keeping you at bay as we do not really know what 'stranger' animals are really like...... even though she looked extra friendly. Hahaha, my thoughts are running into words that are getting away on me😀
Thank you for the walk, I enjoyed it immensely. xx

The cows are practically related! :)) They live outside of my neighborhood, but I visit them regular as I cut through their pasture. I am super careful. Some days, the bull is in there!

Hello @angiemitchell!

A friendly bull?
Hello @dswigle

As long as you don't intrude on his space. :)) At that point, he becomes bullish.

Beautiful photos on this one! Gorgeous area you're in.

I've met a cow close up :) They are truly beautiful. Their eyes especially ❤️

Ha! True! I love cow eyes even when they are human. :) Thank you and it really is a nice place to live!

I hope you ae having a great day!

Rough week here tbh

Hello Denise! As always you had a wonderful walk. The flowers are beautiful! I love the phlox flowers, they remind me of my childhood.

Hi, Leyla! @leylar

I love phlox and they remind me exactly of my childhood, the smell, to this day speaks of hot, summer days. ☀️ I plant them in my gardens and can smell them when I open my front door.

Even better, if you deadhead them, they keep giving! I hope you are doing well and enjoying your summer!

Thank you for stopping by!

The rain disrupting this beautiful post I was enjoying.

Looking at the cows made me remember that if my grandma's. She loved them so much and reared a few. I just learnt something new about the clover. That's why I always check in here, your posts are always educating and fun.

Clover is very decieving, isnt it? Cows are pretty cool and have such expressive eyes.

Very great pictures and nice content read from your post. I really enjoyed reading. Thanks very much!

Thank you. I hope you have a great day!
