Hello, people of the Internet! I'm very happy to participate in this contest, since I spend quite a lot of time in this community, either making a post, commenting on some other post or answering the comments of some follower who takes the time to read my work, plus as a movie lover, this is community is one of my favourites along with Hive Gaming, so today I want to participate in the Halloween contest and let you have a look at my favourite works which include demons and Ghosts, and of course I'll leave you my opinion about them. So, put out the lights, grab a snack and join me for a walk through what, in my opinion, are today's best works on the subject.

Estoy muy contenta de participar en este concurso, dado a que paso bastante tiempo en esta comunidad, ya sea haciendo un post, comentando algún otro o respondiendo los comentarios de algún seguidor que se toma el tiempo de leer mi trabajo, además como amante del cine, esta es la comunidad es una de mis preferidas junto con Hive Gaming, así que hoy quiero participar en el concurso de Halloween y dejarles un vistazo de mis trabajos preferidos que incluyen Demonios y Fantasmas, y desde luego les dejaré mi opinión sobre ellas. Así pues, apanguen las luces, tomen un snack y acompáñenme a dar un paseo por los que, en mi opinión, son los mejores trabajos de hoy día sobre el tema.
I'll start by talking about the 1999 film Sixth Sense, directed by M. Night Shyamalan and starring Haley Joel Osment and Bruce Willis. This was (if I remember correctly) one of the first or the first ghost movie I saw. And it was one of the forerunners in plot twists.
Empezaré hablando de Sexto Sentido, película de 1999, dirigida por M. Night Shyamalan y protagonizada por Haley Joel Osment y Bruce Willis. Esta fue (si no recuerdo mal) una de las primeras o la primera película de fantasmas que vi. Y fue una de las precursoras en los giros de trama.
I don't want to go into technicalities (I did that in the review I did of the film, and in fact I won't talk about technicalities in this post, because I reviewed all the films I will mention) but I will talk about how terrified I felt, I think that since I was a child, I could identify with Cole. I mean, when I watch it now as an adult (it doesn't scare me anymore but it makes me uneasy, since I obviously already know what will happen in every scene) my perception towards Cole changed, before I felt identified with him, and now I feel a sense of protection towards the poor boy.
No quiero ampliarme hablando de tecnicismos (eso lo hice en la review que hice de la película, y de hecho no hablaré de tecnicismos en este post, porque a todas las películas que mencionaré les hice review) pero si que hablaré de lo aterrada que me sentía, creo que ya que era una niña, podía identificarme con Cole. Es decir, cuando ahora la miro de adulta (ya no me asusta sino que me inquieta, dado a que obviamente ya se lo que sucederá en cada escena) mi percepción hacia Cole cambió, antes me sentía identificada con él, y ahora me despierta un sentimiento de protección hacia el pobre niño.
The use of all the photography resources made the film a work of art, I don't find anything wrong with it, in fact it ages quite well. The story is, in my opinion, the best feature of the film, as its premise is unique and very well worked and quite profound. But now we'll talk about what everyone wants to hear about... the ghosts:
El uso de todos los recursos filmográficos hicieron de la película una obra de arte, no le encuentro nada malo, de hecho envejece bastante bien. La historia es, en mi opinión, la mejor característica de la película, ya que su premisa es única y está muy bien trabajada y es bastante profunda. Pero ahora hablaremos de lo que todos quieren oir... los fantasmas:
I have to say that the characterisation of all of them is amazing, they are extremely disturbing. I think it was a great job and the scenes of each of them (as simple as they seemed) were absolutely disturbing. I'll leave you with some of my favourites:

Let's move on to Incidious. A 2011 film directed by the eminent James Wan and starring Patrick Wilson, Rose Byrne, Lin Shaye and Ty Simpkins. This film explores something rarely explored in the genre: astral travel and how this practice can be quite dangerous. It is also the film responsible for terrifying and endearing me to the genre once again.
Pasemos ahora a hablar de Incidious. Película de 2011, dirigida por la eminencia, James Wan y protagonizada por Patrick Wilson, Rose Byrne, Lin Shaye y Ty Simpkins. En esta película se explora algo poco trabajado en el género: los viajes astrales y como esta práctica puede ser bastante peligrosa. Además, es la película responsable de volver a aterrarme y encariñarme de nuevo con el género.
James employs his own trademark use of Asian horror (well known to be the best) and adds bizarre scenes (in the Anglo-Saxon sense of the word) that with elements that really have nothing to do with the genre make the work a macabre work of art, as an example of that, we have one of my favourite scenes:
James emplea su propio sello, el uso del terror asiático (bien conocido por ser el mejor) y añade escenas bizarras (en el sentido anglosajón de la palabra) que con elementos que realmente no tienen que ver con el género, hacen del trabajo una obra de arte macabra, como ejemplo de eso, tenemos una de mis escenas preferidas:
In addition to the dancing ghost scene itself... James also works with another of his hallmarks, the subjective scenes, which make you go back to the film to make sure that what you saw was really what you saw.
Además de la escena en sí del fantasma bailando... también James trabaja con otro de sus sellos, las escenas subjetivas, las cuales te hacen regresar la película para asegurarte de que lo que viste sí fue tal cual.
Scenes like those or those of the demon (the main antagonist of the film) terrified me at the time and made me a fan of Wan, who also works in the old school way, prioritising make-up and characterisation over CGI, being able to make magnificent works with a minimal budget. I must point out that only the first and second parts seemed great to me, and in the third one I could see the decline and my suspicions were confirmed when I didn't see James in the direction of that and subsequent installments.
Escenas como esas o las del demonio (antagonista principal de la cinta) me aterraron en su momento y me hicieron fan de Wan, quien además trabaja a la vieja escuela priorizando maquillaje y caracterización por sobre CGI, pudiendo hacer obras magnificas con un presupuesto mínimo. Debo destacar que solo la 1 y 2 me parecieron geniales, ya en la 3 se fue viendo el declive y mis sospechas se confirmaron cuando no vi a James en la dirección de esa y las entregas posteriores.
The next film also comes from James Wan and it is none other than The Conjuring. The title of the film has nothing to do with the plot or anything else, the film is a 10 out of 10 in every aspect and it was the confirmation that Wan is an excellent director.
La siguiente película también viene de la mano de James Wan, y se trata nada más ni nada menos que del El Conjuro. Lejos de que el título de la cinta no tiene que ver con la trama ni nada de eso, la película es un 10 de 10 es cada uno de sus aspectos y fue la confirmación de que Wan es un excelente director.
With this saga happened to me exactly the same as with Insidious, I only loved the first two instalments (by James) and you can feel the lack of magic once he disappears from the direction, the essence of the first films disappears. They are not the same shots, there is no Asian style, there are no subjective shots... but the performances were at an excellent level.
Con esta saga me pasó exactamente igual que con Insidious, solo amé las dos primeras entregas (de la mano de James) y es que se siente la falta de la magia una vez que él desaparece de la dirección, esa esencia que guardan las primeras películas desaparece. No son los mismos planos, no hay estilo asiático, no hay planos subjetivos... pero las actuaciones estuvieron a un nivel excelente.
For his films, James met with the victims of the events and with Lorraine Warren to make his concept art, asking over and over again if what he had done resembled what had happened to make sure it was as accurate as possible, and to depict the terror, plus his own creative mind added a little more detail, randoms scares and somewhat exaggerated characterisation (such as the appearance of the girls' mother being possessed) to fit the terror he wanted to show.
Para sus películas, James se reunió con las víctimas de los sucesos y con Lorraine Warren para hacer su arte conceptual, preguntando una y otra vez si lo que había hecho se parecía a lo que había pasado para asegurarse de que fuese lo más exacto posible, y lograr representar el terror, además de su propia mente creativa agregó un poco más de detalles, sustos randoms y caracterizaciones algo exageradas (como la apariencia de la madre de las niñas al estar poseída) para que encajara con el terror que quería mostrar.
Every single scene terrified me, I spent the whole movie (I'm talking about when I saw both) in constant tension and I loved that feeling that only Insidious had given me. Here are my favourite scenes:
Cada una de las escenas me aterraban, pasé toda la película (hablo de cuando vi ambas) en una tensión constante y amé esa sensación que solo me había producido Insidious. A continuación les dejaré mis escenas preferidas:
In the latter, the premise was excellent, although I didn't like the movement of The Crooked Man as it looked like poorly done CGI or Stopmotion animation, but it's one of my favourites because of the context of the scene itself.
En esta última, la premisa estuvo excelente, aunque el movimiento del Hombre Encorvado no me gustó ya que parecía CGI mal hecho o animación por Stopmotion, pero es una de mis preferidas por el contexto de la escena en sí.
And I close this post by talking about the quintessential horror gem: The Exorcist. A 1973 film that still generates panic today, a sign that it has aged tremendously well. Everything about this film is great, from the story (based on real events in fact), to the scripts and photography as well as the iconic soundtrack.
Y cierro el post hablándoles de la joya del terror por excelencia: El Exorcista. Cinta de 1973 y que aún hoy sigue generando pánico, señal de que envejeció tremendamente bien. Todo en esta película está genial, desde la historia (basada en sucesos reales de hecho), hasta los guiones y la fotografía además de la icónica banda sonora.
The progression of the events is very well taken care of within the film, plus it is quite visceral in some scenes, raw, bloody and terrifying. The times I've seen it, even knowing the scenes, have never failed to disturb me and its essence in itself is what makes it one of the classics of horror cinema.
La progresión de los eventos está muy bien cuidada dentro de la cinta, además de que es bastante visceral en algunas escenas, cruda, sangrienta y aterradora. Las veces que la he visto, aún sabiéndome las escenas, nunca han dejado de perturbarme, y su esencia en sí misma es la que la hace uno de los clásicos del cine de terror.

Todas me parecen excelentes opciones cuando se trata del género de terror, aunque en particular a mí no me gustan en demasía aquellas que giran alrededor de los demonios, no por nada especial, pero considero que se abusa demasiado de ciertos elementos como objetos que se mueven solos y que una entidad extraña tome posesión del cuerpo de alguien.
Evidentemente cada una tiene elementos adicionales dentro de su trama argumentativa que las hace únicas a su manera, El Exorcista es un clásico, no se le puede quitar su puesto, tengo algunas de este estilo que me encantan, pero no las prefiero. Para mí es difícil meterme de lleno en estas películas y eso hace que me resulte difícil tomarlas en serio.

Creo que para no creyentes, las pelis de terror tienen que tomarse como las animadas o las de super héroes... no puedes quejarte de que "eso no pase en la vida real" solo lo disfrutas y ya... si bien las pelis de posesión en algunos casos abusan del poltergeist... el hecho de un ente entrando en el cuerpo de alguien es el motor y tema principal de este subgénero, no se puede "abusar" de este recurso ya que es el tema principal, si no estuviese presente no serían pelis de posesión. Casi todas las pelis que incluyen demonios van de la mano con las posesiones ya que se dice que este es el objetivo de estos.
Como te mencioné, las únicas pelis que pueden "hacerte tomarlas en serio" son aquellas de género histórico o que se basan en situaciones más "reales" (como las de thriller y suspense" el resto se disfruta, no puedes buscarle sentido a una peli animada, de super héroes, fantasía o terror paranormal, estos géneros pueden hacerse realistas o poco realistas dentro de su universo y es ahí donde viene la crítica. Si una peli de fantasmas es poco realista para su propio universo la peli es mal, si por el contrario, dentro de su género y universo es bastante realista, la peli es buena, así de simple.
Por ejemplo, se considera poco realista en un universo dispararle a un fantasma (a menos claro que el personaje en cuestión crea que se trate de alguien vivo) y peor aún si el fantasma reacciona a dichos disparos. Dentro de su universo es más realista practicar una limpieza espiritual que correr a tiros a los fantasmas...

Horror movies like this has to be some of the scariest...I didn't see insidious because I was really young at that time and there was no way I could have taken such horror...but then I saw conjuring ,...after the first installment I was sure I wanted to see more of that scary shii and I did ...it made my heart skip a beat..
I couldn't understand how it happened but there were scenes coupled with great sound effects that all went together and left you gasping for breath...
I hope the see insidious now that I'm grown..it might not be as scary as it used to be but then it'll be worth watching..

I saw "insidious" when it came out (as an adult) and of course it promises good scares, after all, it was directed by an eminent horror director, 1 and 2 are the good ones, from then on I saw them but they were never as good as the instalments directed by James Wan
He visto todas y cada una de las películas que has mencionado en esta publicación, pero la primera que mencionas, creo que la reconozco, solo que no me acuerdo.
Las del conjuro honestamente son mis favoritas, tienen una historia totalmente interesante y a la vez muy buena, la de la noche del demonio también, me asusté mucho viendo cada una de las escenas de este film, hasta los momentos películas de este año que me han parecido aterradoras solamente ha sido la del teléfono negro.
I've seen each and every one of the movies you've mentioned in this post, but the first one you mention, I think I recognize it, I just don't remember.
The ones of the conjured honestly are my favorites, they have a totally interesting story and at the same time very good, the one of the night of the demon also, I was very scared watching each one of the scenes of this film, until the moments movies of this year that I have found terrifying only has been the one of the black telephone.
No he tenido la oportunidad de ver películas recientes, tengo que ver esa que mencionas y también Smile (ha tenido buenas puntuaciones así que quiero confirmar si es cierto). Te recomendaría que vieras Sexto Sentido, es una de las mejores.
Creo que de las contemporáneas las del Conjuro me parecen de las mejores. Lograron asustarme en algún que otro momento y eso es raro en las películas de ahora porque ya se explotaron muchos recursos que uno tiende a esperar. Sobre todo los que vimos muchas producciones de terror jajaja. Así que destaco eso. Y las otras las considero como clásicos, cada una tiene lo suyo.
Tienes toda la razón, de hecho ya yo estaba un poco aburrida de las películas actuales de terror hasta que llegó Insidious a cambiarlo todo (en mi caso fue esta la primera que vi del mismo director en tiempos "recientes"). James Wan y su estilo único y creativo para contar historias salvó mi género preferido 😍
Recuerdo ver esta pelicula en mi niñes y traumarme mucho, recuerdo no poder dormir en las noches, aun asi xD no me arrepiento de verla, los efectos en ese entonces eran bastante bueno xD todo me lo creia jajaja saludos, que buena iniciativa de esta comunidad revivir estas experiencias en el mes de cotubre.🤠🤠

I've seen a lot of horror movies but I think conjuring was one movie that I couldn't see to the end. Maybe because I saw it a night while I was home alone.
Hahaha very bad choice to watch that movie alone at home. I dare to watch it alone in my room but not if there is no one at home hahahaha. I will never get tired of praising James Wan's directing skills, especially for horror, he's a master
I like your choices. The Conjuring is probably my favorite out of those although they all were great movies. Did you ever watch the movie Signs? That was the first scary movie I ever watched as a kid and I was scared of aliens for years after haha.
hahaha yes, "Signs" are great. I like the way you approach the alien invasion, it's quite realistic.As a horror lover, of course it scared me, but we are masochists, that's why we enjoy it 😂🤣
Cada vez que veo el Sexto sentido me produce la misma sensación que aquella ocasión en la que la Vi por primera vez. La escena del niño, esa que compartes, me pone los pelos de punta. 😆. Fue una obra maestra en el género del suspenso, uf, ¡Vaya que si! Lo mejor que he visto del género.
Insinduos es otra de mis favoritas, la primera y la segunda, al menos para mí, fueron las mejores. Mucho suspenso y horror tanto paranormal como psicólogo. Una buena obra de James Wan. Esta al igual que la del origen de Anabelle son realmente piezas excelentes, las mejores para gritar y tener buenos sustos 😆.
El exorsista es la obra maestra aquí, hasta ahora, no he visto una mejor película que toque el tema de posesiones de una forma tan inteligente cómo esta. Un maquillaje y unos efectos bien logrados, sobre todo cuando la niña voltea la cabeza. Un verdadero escenario de pesadilla.

Every time I see the Sixth Sense it gives me the same feeling as the time I saw it for the first time. The scene of the child, the one you share, makes my hair stand on end. 😆. It was a masterpiece in the suspense genre, ugh, oh yeah! The best I've seen of the genre.
Insinduos is another of my favorites, the first and the second, at least for me, were the best. Lots of suspense and horror, both paranormal and psychological. A good work by James Wan. This one, like the one from Anabelle's origin, are really excellent pieces, the best ones to scream and have good scares 😆.
The exorcist is the masterpiece here, so far I haven't seen a better movie that touches on the subject of possessions in such a clever way as it is. Well-done makeup and effects, especially when the girl turns her head. A true nightmare scenario.

Sexto sentido es una gran película, me encanta todo, desde la actuación de los protagonistas hasta la forma de los fantasmas, la segunda que mencionas no la he visto, pero el conjuro si, aunque no me gustó mucho, creo que el problema fue que en aquel tiempo todos hablaban del conjuro y me decían que asustaba mucho, creo que me cree expectativas muy grandes que al momento de verla y no sentir susto fue un poco decepcionante, aunque quizá debía verla de nuevo y ver su cambie un poco o me sienta las relajada y si me asuste 😊

Three horror movies, a thousand scary moments in them... Those pictures and the trailers are super scary!
I've only once heard of insidious but never got to see it, now I'm not sure if I should... Your review got me scared, what happens when I see it with my own eyes then? 😅
The other two are indeed perfect entries for the Halloween contest, those makeovers for the transformations are superb.
