Proposal to Gamify Threads for Meaningful Growth

  • Dedicate an account for running Challenges and curating
  • Give this account the ability to pin threads at the top of the feeds
  • Develop a calendar specifying the events at least 60 days out
  • Enlist community members to motivate users to post under random topics following minimal guidelines to improve the feed and interaction under this account
  • Develop daily and weekly challenges with LEO and Premium Account prizes
  • Use curation rewards earned by a select number of current InLeo Company accounts to fund this proposal and pay those hosting it
  • Do all of this in Threads directly, rather than use an off platform service
  • Each Challenge must be developed with the goal of keeping users interested, teaching skills that help grow the platform, improve engagement at all levels, improve the quality of the feed to keep users engaged and coming back and to improve retention rates of new users #feedback

wao these are great ways to gamifying experiences on threads and they seem realistic SD well because it's a determining factor

These are pretty good ideas!

And the best part is, a lot of this stuff doesn't need the LEO blessing, anyone could spearhead it?

I did try spearheading a one-off contest (to test the waters for a monthly contest): https://inleo.io/@freecompliments/re-leothreads-2eesgk9sv

Hard to gauge the success, as it didn't work out too well quantitatively... but did still gather a small amount of high quality engagement. Going to keep developing the idea.

Can I help by donating some rewards / prizes? HSBI or gifting premium?

Oh that's very generous! Know what... part of my plan was actually increasing the rewards based on the quantity and quality of engagement (i.e. multiple Premium rewards). Maybe we can collaborate with the InLeo team for a partial sponsorship depending on how much engagement is generated. I'll discuss this with anomadsoul as well. Mind if I share the idea on Discord since it's still in the "working" stage?

Something we did years ago, was 'community' gifts....so we got a bunch of program owners to donate from their own pockets, things to giveaway....It was quite popular. I bet you'll find plenty in the LEO community that would donate to help out and get more engagement going

Interesting concept - and I do think that some collaborations could make this a possibility. It'll be a refreshing change from having all rewards self-funded (to date lol). Will definitely reach out to anomadsoul as a start.

No matter what happens, could on me for HSBI donations and a premium membership gift.

Right, but having some nice votes backing it would go a long way

Lots of Lions here have decent voting power, and everyone here tends to send votes out a lot more than on Hive. I know I will make a much bigger effort to curate Leo articles in the new year!

1-I'm seeing those votes mostly being diluted at minute levels. So sure, a 100% vote would be nice, but so many are voting at 5%. Also, only two are curating well and only one is curating beneficial content for the platform.

well yeah, if I voted people 100% in threads, I could vote 8 people and then I'm down to 80% VP.....If I vote at 5%, I can spread the tokens out a lot more.

2-The majority with big stake are either just voting any old shit without much thought in it or just arent active enough.I myself wouldnt find the effort worth it if it werent 4 Taskmater or Khal.Task is using his vote better than khal tho

have you been to Hive? lol i'll take the curation on LEO 10 times out of 10 here lol You need a secret handshake and known nuclear clearance codes to get voted by whales on Hive lol

I use peakd for some stuff, but have only published one blog, so not really. That being said, I see Introduction blogs doing very well there, but not so much here

Yeah intro posts give people on Hive false hope. They think that's a normal thing to get those big rewards everytime. Which in turns, leaves people frustrated and they end up giving up. I think curation needs to be steady. That keeps people I think, as long as it's steady, people will continue to show up.

These are excellent ideas! Most salient for me personally is doing it all directly on Threads without using an outside entity for challenges.

Thank you and yes, being local is necessary. Leo has curation, but without fun challenges, which are key, IMO. So robotic voting without any fun at all really. We need some fun integrated, which will go a long way. Further than anything else

What's interesting is that prior to Zealy, they had a campaign which was solely within Threads, and it was just about the most fun we'd had as a community here. Threads were jam-packed here - activity was even higher than it is now, and there was engagement.

I wonder why it was fazed out? There's not much excitement here, unless it's fake through Zealy campaigns. I think those posting spikes from the Zealy campaign are more harmful than helpful. It feels too spammy
