RE: Weekend-engagement topic week 24: Passions [Get paid for yours]

So many passions here that I like. Yes I have an interest in all of them but I have only two major passions, charity work and nature in all of its forms.
They say to do what you love and to love what you do and fortunately I am surrounded by both of my passions.

Even the locusts smile at me :)

Two awesome and worthwhile passions. I know about your tireless and selfless charity work. You are to be commended for your efforts.

Your passion for nature was evident when I read your post where you had your wife stop on the side of the road where you filmed 2 bird in battle. The scenes you caught of them from beginning in the air all the way to their continued battle on the ground was amazing to see and read about.

Thanks for sharing your passions.

Thank you @justclickindivia for the kind words here. The secret with charity is that if I help others, I in fact help the little poor boy inside myself. I know what it is to suffer due to circumstances that renders one helpless and so we try our best to change those circumstances.
Hahaha, yes, I remember that post and glad that you also remember it.
Mother nature has been kind to me :)

Hope that you will have a blessed day!

Two very fine passions. I love the nature photos that you take and those you show, they are always nice quality, and the smiles of those you help are testament to your passion in the charity arena.

Thank you my friend, I like to keep things interesting with the posts.
The smiles of the little ones are indeed great rewards and I think that you know what it's all about.

I believe that if a person has the ability to apply passion to the things they do, those things will be done with more effort and all the other factors required to do that thing well will simply fall into place.

When I'm asked to speak at the real estate institute on occasions, to new classes, in the question-time I'm always asked, what one attribute did I bring to the job that was critical to helping me gain success...I always ask for their opinion and get replies like honesty, integrity, hard work, time-management etc...I always nod and say yes, that is true...But the one single thing is *Passion. Have passion to perform at one's best and the other things will simply happen as a matter of course.

It is passion that pushes your charity work methinks.

What is life without passion my friend?
Here I think about all of those that are dumbed down in jobs that they don't like, but have to do to survive. Ever so slowly their passions are eroded, as they have to concentrate continuously on their job demands.
On the other hand, if they love their work, they are sure to rise in the ranks.

A sure indicator of passions can be seen in their hobbies. I have heard many saying that they so wish that they could do their hobbies full time.
Upon my question of why not?, they answer that they need the job that they hate.
Makes one think doesn't it?

Blessings and thank you for the token!

I agree that a person's daily grind, the job they hate but have to do can erode ones enjoyment of life. I think it's been that way for a long time. The only truly free were Neanderthals, the hunter-gatherers. Once we stopped moving with the seasons and with food sources, when we started to plant crops around 10,000 years ago, we became slaves to work in the main; The daily grind. The work may be different but the grind isn't.

I work, I'm no different. I don't have the ability not to work at this stage, but get closer and closer. This is why, for me, applying passion to the things I do is most important. It helps me to enjoy what I have, my life, a little better, more deeply.

I don't reserve passion for hobbies alone, it permeates through all aspects of my life, my attitude and thoughts; I'm a passionate person plain and simple. Life is my hobby, my life and that with Faith and my family too. I'm passionate about it so I guess I'm less likely to say things like I hate my job and more likely to say, I love my life. 😉

Just me, everyone does their own thing though I guess.

We are exactly the same as far as the passion issue is concerned my friend.
Our internet signal bombed out again this morning and I knew that it would take hours to fix it, so we went down to the beach.

Incidentally I was thinking about the passion and hobby thing when this van stopped in front of us at the traffic lights.
Look at what was pasted on its tailgate!

Truer words were never spoke. Nice catch on the right day.

Thank you Sir Tom!

Looks like the tailgate of a Hilux. Clearly a person who understands his purpose in life. 😁

Oh yeah, Hilux remains the top seller here and most of the farmers drive them.
The farmers and their sons and their uncles and their nephews and their friends :)
His passsion is fishing, so it tells you what he thinks about his job.

The Hilux was the best seller, but the Ford Ranger overtook it a while back. They go back and forth over the top position...I've had both and enjoyed both...My preference? Either I'd say, both have their merits...Although I loved my Ranger, not physically loved it, but emotionally. 😂

Thank you for your engagement on this post, you have recieved ENGAGE tokens.

That's a handsome-looking locust. Doing what you are passionate about is a reward on itself. It's awesome and fulfilling. You must feel blessed to be surrounded by the things you love!

I wish I was surrounded by food. Maybe I'd feel the same way! Ha, ha, ha.

Thank you and I agree, as that guy in the red suit is indeed a beauty!
Yes, we are blessed and grateful every day my friend.

You can make your wishes come true to be surrounded by food if you do what we do!

Plant your own :)

I have lime tree and some purple flowers. I might publish some pictures someday. Meanwhile, look at this beauty.

Ah! looks like the Green Iguano to me?

Yes, it's a green iguana I had the chance to photograph last year.

There are two obvious passions that have carried you (or you them) a long ways.

Even the locust knows...

Thank you Sir Tom, I took the big and scary step away from the business world 20 years ago and decided to follow my passions.
Today, I can tell you that even though it was very difficult, I have no regrets!

Even the locust knows :)

Well. I already knew you had no serious regrets and I also already knew it was difficult. It's a life well lived when you can pull it off and you certainly have.

Once again, I tip my hat to you.

Thank you and you are a real gentleman Sir Tom.

That's amazing, simple and true. There is always a sense of satisfaction in charity work but I have not really considered it as a passion. Its nice
