Crossing over 100 and toasting marshmallows

We got to have our first sauna in the new home last night, a luxury that we haven't had for a very long time, as our apartment, nor my last had a sauna in it. This one is wood-fired, so it is even better.

I didn't heat it too much as our daughter isn't accustomed to the sauna and we wanted to see how she'd go. She really enjoyed it. After she went to bed, my wife and I lit the fireplace and toasted marshmallows - it was nice. My daughter can't eat them, which is why we did it after she went to bed. We don't have much wood here and will have to buy some more once we get around to it and hopefully I can get some cheaply from a client of mine.

The days are long and full at the moment, but before I went to bed I did one little thing.

I converted some STEEM into HIVE and crossed the 100K barrier. That is pretty cool and a lot of HP by my measure and I never thought I'd hold this much of anything, as my own journey into crypto started "late" and on Steem, slow.

These unit biases milestones are a bit silly, but at the same time, a good marker of progress and a key reminder to reflect and see if one wants to keep buying into a project. I think that for most other tokens, these units aren't very significant as they aren't tied to a community itself, they are just numbers with a fiat value attached.

Early on, I set goals for myself, daily, weekly and monthly in order to get to certain points, but the main numbers weren't token based, it was what I could control, my content and engagement. What I would do was set a minimum amount of posts in a day and mentally track things like word count and comments made. While it wasn't accurate, it made me think about what I was actually doing, rather than just floating through without any kind of focal points. It worked for me at least.

I am not sure where I am on the rankings now, but I think it is around the 200 mark. It is funny to think that in the online community that is a pretty decent figure, yet in the real world - I struggle financially and have done for a long time. The value of this kind of amount doesn't do much for me in my life and while it would ease some issues in the short-term, if I used it I am likely never going to be able to get back to this level and it might have massive effects on my long-term position.

Since I plan on building a strong financial future, the risk has to be taken now. The risk is, I get nothing for my effort and investment from now if it all goes badly. The potential is that the same investment now has a large gain in the future. With pretty much any investment, if one isn't willing to accept the risk, the chance of the gain is removed.

Speaking of removal - Our Easter long weekend was removed as my wife has to work today and tomorrow due to overload caused by Covid-19 things - so I will be spending the time with @smallsteps trying to keep her busy. Weirdly, the ground is covered in snow, so outside activities are limited. I wonder if she is interested in visiting a hardware store to look for a cordless drill? My toolbox is definitely not ready for this renovation - so I will have to build it up as I need items - an investment of another kind.

Okay, off to get another day underway.

Nice! I was just bragging about passing 50k. lol! I may be able to reach 100k by the time I'm done powering down Steem and moving some other cryptos over.

50K is huge and it doesn't seem that long ago I crossed it. It has been a quick expansion to here though, aided by a little conversion :)

That is great as the 100K mark is a significant barrier to break. I think over time we are all going to be grateful for the sacrifices we have done. Your account relates to years of work and it has to pay off for what you have put in. I am hoping to get to 30K very soon and see that as realistic. Who knows if Hive can get to $10 or more, but I do think it has a great chance and would not bet against it.

It might be a hail Mary, but if it completes - it is going to be great for thousands of people :)

Loved the contrast between your snow and our sun and smiled at the question about whether @smallsteps would be interested in visiting a hardware store.

She had fun for about the first 20 minutes - less impressed after that :)

My congratulations. I do not cease to admire your achievements and willpower. Publishing messages daily - it really deserves respect.

I think everyone should publish something once a day - it is good therapy :)

Congratulations on your achievement. Hopefully, surely you will move up to 200k good wishes. Is that the picture of your daughter? Why can't she eat them? You waited for her to go to bed but in the pix it looks like she's not in bed and may peeping to see what's going on lol. Congratulations!

Maybe it's because they are made of boiled horse hides and cow skeletons?

delicious!

She has food allergies and can't eat a lot of things - plus - I like them so don't want to share. :)

Congratulations on the really big number :)

Glad the small one enjoyed the not too hot sauna XD might help keep that virus away XD

Toasting marshmallows sounds like a nice way to end the night, hope small will be able to join in with that one day :)

It supposedly does help with the virus as it can't deal with the heat, but who knows.

hope small will be able to join in with that one day

We gave her one today to test if she reacts. We can test for a few times in the coming weeks and see if it'll work

Ooh good luck :D

Crazy isn't it. To be barely getting by with fiat, but thriving in crypto.
Somebody pointed out today, that I now have over US$30,000 worth of Flesh Golems.
That seems outlandish for a single income, 3 child family; but it's my shot.
If you don't take a risk, you'll struggle forever.

To be barely getting by with fiat, but thriving in crypto.

Yeah, and I am yet to work out if I am crazy :D

If you don't take a risk, you'll struggle forever.

And this is the point I keep coming back to

Congratz on having a nice sauna and on crossing the magical 100k! This is huge indeed :D And yes, indeed, I can't wait for the times that our crypto numbers somehow have a positive impact off-chain too. Waiting, waiting... I'm counting the days :-)

But for now, Cheers!

Waiting, waiting... I'm counting the days

I am not sure if I can count that high :D

:*

I wonder if she is interested in visiting a hardware store to look for a cordless drill?

What kid doesn’t love a trip to the hardware store? So many strange objects to explore.

She enjoyed part of it, but not the traveling from section to section. We seem to have fun wherever we go though and I am lucky, she has never been a public tantrum kid.

I'm pleased, friend @tarazkp, to see your family. By the way, my daughter also has a zebra kegurumi :)

Congratulations... I think I’m going to hit 10,000 today.

10K is huge - congrats! :)

Thanks for all your help along the way .... much appreciated.

No worries mate

Snow, that's nuts considering I got a nice bit of suntan yesterday and cooked lunch on the BBQ

100k hive power, way to go 🤑 nice work indeed

The snow was unexpected, as it has been such a crappy winter this year here - A BBQ sounds awesome -
I hope the neighbours will invite us over when it is a bit warmer, since we don't have one yet :)

the neighbors are probably looking at you with suspicion, I think everyone is looking at strangers in this way at the moment. 🤣 its a weird atmosphere at the moment

I think they are too - even my wife noticed when she talked to them when we moved in. I think they aren't used to having foreigners so close :D

I wasn't even considering the "foreigners" aspect, I guess that coupled with covid19 and for sure you are rather suspicious indeed. Wait till you start talking blockchain and hive to them 😂🤣

One neighbour is an ex-economist and an alcoholic - I am looking forward to the summer :D

haha that should be fun. How did you find out he is an alcoholic?

Congrats on reaching 100k hp, it takes commitment and belief in a project to patiently grow your stocks the way you're doing. I set my own target at 5000 hp and at the end of my Steem powerdown, I believe I could achieve it. Also, there's snow by this time of the year? That's surely not normal right?

5K is a good target and hopefully the PD helps reach it :)

Considering how weirdly little snow there was in the actual winter, it is a bit strange. But it has snowed in mid-May also.

I know as a child I loved trips to any store. Power tool or bubble gum, it was all great when I was young..... So much easier way back then. Everything was an adventure......

We always have fun together shopping as there are heaps of little games to play if creative. She is getting tired of being in a rush though, but today we can take it easy :)

Your daughter is a cutie and her zebra top is priceless.

Sounds like a great evening with sauna and roasting marshmallows

She is and I am really glad I picked it up for her on a work trip. Whenever I travel, I try to get her something small and memorable - she loves this one :)

First of all congrats on the 100.000 Hive, that´s a big number. I´m happy when I cross the 10.000 next week. :)

I would love to go to the sauna again. I usually go to the sauna quite often when I´m back home in Germany, as well as cold water tub. But I´m definitely someone who only use this in cold weather, so no sauna for me in Australia. :)

It has taken 3.5 years and buying in to get here, but I am content with it.

Back in AUS (I am from Adelaide), I liked steam rooms occasionally, but sauna is best when cold or, the endless summer days by the lake with a swim between sessions.

Congratulations and it is really result of lot of dedication as it is not easy to achieve.

Cheers :)

100K is an excellent "starting" for you 😌
By the way, I try to reach at 1K HP but the most challenging part for me is to help my beloved @oxoskva reach at 50 HP. I hope we can spare enough time while working hard home-office 😅

Congrats dear @tarazkp

I have been at it a while :)

@oxoskva needs to post more and more than actifit :)

For the Tweetheads

You are becoming hive megalodon :)

Congratulations on the 100K landmark.

Even more congratulations on your up coming drill purchase. By coincidence I just bought my first proper drill... literally just ordered it.

I went for one of these - DeWalt 18V XR Combi Drill - set me back £100, but this should last me a lifetime.

Sad to say that's the equivalent of 1000 Hive, kind of puts it into perspective.

I went for one of these - DeWalt 18V XR Combi Drill - set me back £100, but this should last me a lifetime.

I went with Dewalt XR DCD777S2T 18V 1,5Ah - it was 150€ and should have enough for what I need in cordless.

Sad to say that's the equivalent of 1000 Hive, kind of puts it into perspective.

Yes it does - which is why I use fiat - it tricks me into thinking HIVE has more value :D

I think we've just bought the same drill!

Dewalt is a pretty solid brand!

I also used fiat of course... I'm having to try and bulk buy everything I think I'll need a week or two in advance in case stocks run low.

It was quite difficult to get silicone sealant for example, stocks for delivery ver low. Everyone is doing DIY in lockdown!

Yep, Dewalt is decent from my limited understanding, and looks serious :)

Everyone is doing DIY in lockdown!

Nearly everything is delivered into the country and not all deliveries seem to be getting through. We need to order tiles this week

Just order well ahead of time is my advice.

I even took a day off DIY to plan what I need to buy for the next month, and put all the orders in today!
