Thanks for keeping an eye on me, I'm glad you still do that. In case I haven't told you lately, I appreciate your continued support—thank you!

Sincerely,
@dandays - The Luckiest Guy I Know

The other day I posted that Fort Dickerson Quarry article—my first time down that single-track. I lacked a few things—helmet, water, GoPro. I went back. With all three. No earbuds though—terrible idea. The guy I avoid the head-on with is wearing earbuds.

There's over 500 mountain bike trails within 50 miles of these hills around us. I doubt I'll get to all of them but I don't doubt I'll have a good time trying.

Pura watched the video—not even a smidgen happy. More like thoroughly pissed!

blank beep beep blank blank blank beep beep

I didn't add music. I gave several tracks a shot and was leaning toward More Human Than Human by Rob Zombie but the music distracts the tires. The wind didn't work with music, either—scratched it. Same with speed. Adjusting the speed made it shaky and the wind sounded fake. The video's actual speed.

I parked at the highest staging area on the hill. From there it's only a few minute peddle to the first downhill—black diamond. I stopped afterward at a good rock throwing point. Everything after that throw is intermediate, about two miles total. Have a nice trip—no crashing allowed.

Solid effort. Do you ever come across anti-mountain bike people and their shrieking ways?

Hey thanks man. I'm glad you watched it.

Nah.. least I don't think so. Take the bike on a designated walking trail would be a different story. I let'em have those ones.

Those folks looked friendly. I came a across a dude that wanted to clothesline me a few years ago. I get the dirtiest looks when I take the Honda dirtbike out though.

The first pair in the video were nice enough to move aside. I actually said something to them but didn't get a response so edited that part out... English wasn't their first language. That must be it.

The second set of people, the two dudes in the video, they were smokin.. smelled like a skunk as I went through so I'm not even sure they noticed me.

Oh dude.. I've seen traps, gun warnings, even had a .22 pulled on me once on the dirt bike--they're a lot more forgiving with the tire ain't attached to an engine.

You still ride? I had to give that up in '04. Really wish I woulda stuck to that statement in 2000. 2000 really did a number on me. 'Uncle!'

Yeah I still go when I can. Winter now though so I've been thinking about buying a snowmobile; but I think that every winter and never do it.

Fuck yes! I haven't had the opportunity to ride one. Been times passing through Utah or Colorado and you see the tracks in the snow or billboards offering rides. Or when they're on X-Games. You ever ridden one? Man I never even sat on one...

And I still think about them all year long

I started riding those things when I was seven years old. The last one I owned was bagged out so I got rid of it, almost ten years ago. It's been about five years since the last time I went fer a rip. <---- Canadian accent.

Hiking trail too.? What do "The Walkers" think of you boss hogging your way passed them.?

WTF is that..?

Screenshot_20210407-072419_1.jpg

Holy friggin smashed hand on a tree. Talk about no room for error...

Only thing I see wrong is the go-pro does not show how steep some of the trail is.

Otherwise. No broken neck = Good Ride.!!

Man thanks for actually coming over here.

I got a new camera angle now, it's a lot better. It attaches to the shoulder strap on my backpack so it's about chest level. Probably still won't be able to gauge to decline of hills though. But It's better.

I get snyed-eyed unfortunately. I'm real vocal too! If I'm coming up behind someone (especially if they have a dog) I'm vocal for quite a distance "behind you." They're usually cool but you get those eyes sometimes.

Head on walkers are the worst!! For whatever tf reason, nobody looks where they're walking so the head on's are always watching their feet. Doesn't matter how many times or how loud I'm "comin thru! Comin thru!" They always see me last minute and then get terrified and I'm the asshole.

My early days riding...

Then later...

Juss sayin'

The longer I watch that second one the more ima laugh uncontrollably and selfishly hog all the time in this shoulder machine. I hate it when mufukers sit at a machine and do some texting shit like I'm doing now.

Plus it's my last exercise, you're keeping me from leaving. Ok, ima go watch it about 87 more times now.

Lmao... !

Oh so your thaaaat guy...

()

It has been confirmed by some of the leading doctors in the universe Dr. Spock, Dr. Seuss, Doc Holiday, Dr. Frankenstein, and of course, the heralded Dr. Fauci, @dandays is totally out of his gourd.
He is not considered a danger to others, just as long as you get the hell out of his way when bicycling, but the unanimous consensus is that he is a danger to himself. If you spot this person, please contact local authorities, don't attempt to apprehend this guy on your own he may accidentally run you over.

Now let's get into the meat of this attempted suicide.

Right off of the bat, the video shows him navigating a ledge about 6" wide with a steep drop to his left.

Wheelies over standing water while speeding around various boulders.

Rounding narrow banked corners at excessive speeds is always a good indication that this person has a death wish.

Another indication of impending suicide comes when he stops, tosses a rock over the edge to measure the vertical distance between himself and the water. Many suicidal people do this from very tall buildings, making sure that the fall will put them in their grave and not just cripple them for life. Although he determined that the vertical drop would be substantial, he figured the drop could leave him with nothing more than a couple more bum limbs.

At the 12:27 mark, you can clearly see has failed attempt to drive over the edge of the narrow path.

The cover image is also very disturbing. The very first box that was checked was Helmet It's obvious why you never get a glimpse of his head while riding. I'm positive that this box was falsely checked so that he could avoid the wrath of @farm-mom.

At the 9:45 mark, you can see how normal people go out for a leisure bike ride, @dandays jaunt is anything but normal.

The last indication is one that is very easy to recognize, whenever you are viewing another person doing something and YOUR ANUS starts to pucker up, save a life, call the authorities.

I have nothing more to say, except that one day down the road I was hoping to meet this dude, shake his hand and swig down a bottel of maple syrup with him. I figure if this type of behavior continues, before the authorities can wrestle him into a straight jacket, this met and greet may not be able to happen.

STAY SAFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had to go dig it up. Wasn't even sure I still had it.

img_4214.png

That, and if I could reblog comments, this one would be trending. Thanks man, really. You even doc'd times, how cool is that? I'm looking forward to going through them with you.

Eh, that ledge at the beginning is crazy right?! Did I tell you that wasn't just my second time down that hill, it was my second time down any hill on that bike. The few people I saw on that ledge were walking their bikes.

Shit! I almost forgot the funniest part of this. I looked up Gourd before I proceeded reading your comment. 'Off his what?' I had to read three definitions before I found one that said hard shelled nut. Dude.. whether or not that's the definition you intended, the fact I had to look it up is funny.

I just watched that part again where I threw the rock. I honestly didn't think you could get a good idea how far down the water was so I threw the rock--glad it worked. But not until you said something did I check it out just now and dang.. I guess I got pretty close to the edge.

Helmet, yeah! That's what Pura said when she watched it.. "you did that without a helmet the first time?!" Something like that. That part where I come in a little too hot around a turn before rolling good through all them trees, toward the end kinda, that was the first time I rode that section. Plus the helmet has the dock the GoPro attaches to so it's a multi-use tool.

Pura said the same thing about dude on the bike, that's funny. I said, 'nah wait, there was three of them.' Hmm.. I'm still not sure what happened to the other two but I'm pretty sure I remember seeing three. Like seeing double only one more.

I'm glad you liked this one man, thanks a lot! I went on your advice and stuck to the longer version. I just didn't like the way the speed adjustment messed with the sound.

And that part about passing around the maple. Oh dude, it's a date.

doc'd times,

We're both pretty clever, wouldn't you agree.

I forgot to ask you in my first reply, I guess I was consumed by the Doc thing, and the reckless abandon I was witnessing!!

What kind of bike is that? It did the job, I'd give the rider an A-plus, and the bike an A plus, plus. The bike gets the higher grade for carrying your ass the entire distance without coming completely apart.

Out of Your Gourd was a common saying back in the day, at least in my neck of the woods.

hard shelled nut

That is exactly the one!!

Cool helmet, I figured that was where the camera was attached, or my other thought was, maybe this dude is riding with one hand on the handlebars and the other one on the camera.

Like seeing double only one more.

I know you don't drink, but the above statement tells a different story. 😁

The entire ride, without the music and any other adjustments, made you feel like you were part of the ride, hell I even ducked a few times and found myself leaning into turns.

You must have had some really good times on the bikes strapped with C CCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCC.

Happy you're still around, let's keep it that way!!!!

Yes'ir you are clever!

Man that's so cool you were tensing up with me. Trust me, if you tensed up on the video I likely was tensed up too.

That bike. Dude I shopped around for awhile til I got one. I had an idea what I wanted. It took awhile. From the dirt bike days, you learn when racing and competition like that, you 'gotta trust your equipment.' Cuz not all equipment will do the same thing.

I even had to point it out to both myself and Pura--notice how you don't even hear the bike making sounds? All mechanically tight and ready, no squeaking or clanking. I shopped new and used and, for the money, I couldn't beat the deal on that bike and I spent about a month searching.

It's a 2018 model. Made by Fuji. It's an Auric One.1. The thing's made for downhills.

Man did you see I got 100% Upvote from @threespeak on this one?! That really boosted my confidence. I wasn't sure if the platform would appreciate downhills like that, maybe it's a more story driven, photography, family type joint you know? Wasn't sure if that video was gonna find its place. That upvote sure did give me some confidence--more to come!

Only two runs though.. that's all I get. Pura's rule

Good morning @thebigsweed! Happy whatever day this is.

You obviously got your money's worth. Shopping around paid off.

I saw the post hanging at the $2.50 mark for a while and was scratching my head. Just before retiring dropping dead last night, Robin asked me if I had seen your post lately. I hadn't and she told me that you had gotten a nice bump.
We were both happy for you.

I wish you knew how cool it feels to have you guys talk about my articles outta authentic interest.

Much love to @farm-mom.

Got blue skies again today my man, ain't seen it for a few days (hope I can see the star of Bethlehem tonight). I already been talking to the bicycle:

'You and me today.. I'll do me, you do you. I'll keep us on the trail, you just stay together.'

What's on your agenda today? You're not still blowing snow blowing are you?

Have about another 3 hours of digging out the truck, shoveling off the back deck, and uncovering the woodpile.

Busy day today. We're headed to Jersey for the weekend., leaving very early tomorrow. With two of our kids having to work Christmas day at the hospital, we're getting together to celebrate as a family over the weekend.

Christmas Day we'll be hanging by ourselves.

Ok, so I yelled at you... several times "WATCH OUT FOR THAT TREE!!" You seemed to have heard me because you avoided them like a champ.

Now, had that been me, I would have flipped over the rock, I definitely would have crashed into at least a few of those trees, and I would have had to see what was in the hole and why is it that we feel the need to throw rocks in the water when the opportunity to do so is there?

I'm thankful you warned me, I made sure I was sitting down when watching this. I would have taken a spill for sure, it was kind of dizzying but looks like a blast. I would try it, but take me on the kiddie trail. That's more my speed.

Thanks for sharing another great adventure with us @dandays. It's nice especially when some of us have no problem living vicariously through you. I am one of those.

My pleasure @bellelynn, I'm just glad you didn't miss it. Good morning! Happy whatever day this is.

Fun fact: that part with the big hole and shortly after, I'm flying through those trees and even hit that right hand turn pretty fast--that was my first time riding that section. Pura seems to think I shouldn't run it again if I'm already going that fast.

There was two times huh? I got a little too close to those trees for comfort. 'Brakes don't fail me now!'

Throwing rocks.. I don't know, just seems like the thing to do doesn't it? When I was looking down at the quarry, I didn't think you'd get a good perspective of how far down the water is so I threw that rock--glad it worked out. Wasn't until @thebigsweed mentioned how close I was to the edge I watched it again like, 'Dang, guess I was.' You know him yet, thebigsweed? Super cool dude from upstate NYC, he and his wife live on 10 acres, grow all their own food, he chops trees on the property to build home additions, really fun author to follow.

'Belle, Sweed. Sweed, Belle'
(Cool enough we exchange holiday surprises n shit)

Hey thanks a lot for checkin this out, I'm glad you liked it, it's my pleasure to share this stuff with you, BelleLynn. Is it Belle, Lynn, or neither? Have a great day! Don't be a stranger.

Thanks for the introduction to @thebigsweed!! I gave him a follow. My son would actually love to get to a point where we will be growing our own food, maybe have a few cattle and chickens. I'm all for that. I'm currently looking at a lighthouse that is for sale and is fairly cheap for being on a little over five acres and right by the water. It's another unique place that I fell in love with.

And @dandays... don't make it complicated. Belle is just fine.... and my days of being a stranger are over. I'm posting this one from my phone. I figured I should get used to using the phone to do these little tasks. Maybe I'll start getting into the bigger tasks? Only when it's not convenient to pull out the computer, of course.

I am thrilled that you came away from your biking adventure unscathed and will also side with Pura on that one. I mean really what is with males and speed and adrenaline and danger and fire and farts? I just don't understand it.

Thanks for the mention @dandays and thanks for the follow @bellelynn

@thebigsweed, while I got you. Hey man, when checkin out @bellelynn, please consider another follow. I recently onboarded a 25+ year friend of mine, known him since he was 8. @knottydaddy. My man.. check out these cutting boards he made for Pura:

img_5117.jpg

img_4409.jpg

Grows his own trees, too, right up your alley. A homesteading family man of a hermit who can't stop. Always building, building, building something like their furniture, farming equipment, something. Or reading Shakespeare, or multimedia art shit. Do give him a shot please.

Thank you!

Anyone you think is worth a follow is worth following. Just added them to my follow list.
Talking about the follow list.
I remember when you took a break from the other platform, shit I've already forgotten their name, Robin unfollowed you, You busted her chops, FULLY WARRANTED.😁😁 We were surprised by the fact that you were notified.

I've got many people on my follow list, and in reality, I only follow less than 30 % of them. I was thinking of unfollowing many of the ones that I no longer follow but was hesitant. I didn't want anyone to get upset.
What do you think, just leave them there?

Firstly, thanks for asking me!

Heck yeah she unfollowed me!! Between Covid and locked down IN England smack in the center of a once in a lifetime road trip, it took everything I had just to stay sane. A 7 month break from whatever that other platform's called was necessary.

I wasn't signing in but eventually I'd set notification for my unfollows cuz it seemed like I'd lose one or two a month thinkin, 'you impatient mufukers!' Oh brother, but when Robin unfollowed me.....

I couldn't let THAT one go 😉

I remember it well, 'Oh, ok! Just for that.. I'm actually gonna leave you a comment, Robin!!' First one in I don't know how long. 👍🏿 You guys are the best.

Unfollowing.

You know what man? I even wrote about it a few years back, people shouldn't get offended when they're unfollowed. I follow/unfollow kinda regularly and, at the same time, I take zero personally when someone unfollows me--it happens. It's nothing personal. If anything, in my opinion, I'm giving other authors more of my attention by making their blog easier to find--it's nothing personal.

I know a few people do, though, whatever. I've noticed a few I've unfollowed subsequently muted me.

Their loss

Know what I mean? Just because I thought the mechanic at the oil changin joint was cool the first time I was there doesn't mean I'm obligated to go back. Agree? Disagree? I mean no harm when I unfollow someone and I'm not intimidated to do so.

Ok, Belle.

Well I'd be lying if I didn't say the first time you caught my attention was the time you mentioned purchasing that old church. As I write this, I think I can honestly say, an old light house is even cooler!

Are you sitting down? I bet I do 80% of this from my phone. I say 80 cuz I spend time designing as well, much more write than design but I do that stuff on the iPad.

Guess I'm just a thumb typer

Cuz you're brighter than us, @bellelynn! Duh! Or is it 'Doh?' 🤔 (I better as a woman). We're real good about figuring out how to get ourselves outta shit.. the biggest difference is, we wait until we're in shit before we get out. Ya'all women are just brighter, you don't wait until you're in it.. We all need a good woman next to us.

1 million. The number of times I would have busted my 🍑 biking along that path. 😂 At least running or hiking it I'd probably only trip about 100 times.

Wassup Plants? That's cool you watched it, thanks. Like a video game only cooler.

It's a lot harder for the dude with a bad wheel to hike walk anything that's not a bike. My buddies still don't know htf I do these things--me either, really. It isn't logical. Pura says I can only ride them twice--new rule. She saw it like, "really?! If that's how fast you're already going after two, no third time! We can't afford you breaking yourself."

That was the gist of it at least--minus the curse words, of course

Haha, yeah, I can see the wisdom in the rule of 2. At least there are plenty of other trails to check out up there, right? You definitely won't run out. It's pretty bada$$ to be able to do that and have a way to enjoy some nature while working out those legs. 😉

For sure! Weather permitting, too, like today it's raining. Raining where you are? Two attempts, the length of time we'll be here, I still won't be able to hit'em all. Actually not a bad way to lose, really... 'Nah, darn! I only made it to 87 of them...'

Oh yes, dreary day down here. Good day for virtual riding at least. ;)

!BEER
for you

You're the best @eii. Thank you.

That was epic! When you threw the rock only I realized how high it was!

Did you add the gopro on the helmet?

I'm glad you liked this one dude, thank you. I'm not gonna lie, I've watched it a buncha times and it still doesn't suck.

My guess is 80-100 feet, glad I chucked that rock so you could see how deep it was.

Yes'ir, on the helmet. I've tried it on the handlebars before but they're just turning and moving too much. You like the view? Was it ok? I wasn't sure if I should point it a little higher so you could see what I see or a little lower like it was so you could see the tire. Kinda like the tire view.

Two cameras would be really cool. One on the helmet and one down low by the front tire hub or something. Every once in awhile do some camera switching so we can see what it looks like a foot off the ground.

I love the view, it would be a great angle for a music video.

I think people want (=me want) to see your face!

Oh shit! You mean like one of those reality show cameras that's bending away from the helmet so it views the contestants face?? That'd be dope!

I was already thinking about a second GoPro to attach near the ground on the front fork to watch the speed at ground level. A go back and forth thing between my view and ground view. Are you saying I need three cameras?!

Or maybe not so extreme and instead a quick little 'hello' before I attach it to the helmet? Do tell.. you're the guy who's comfortable on camera, lay it on me.

Please check your mail in the next few days, I'll be sending you the name of a good shrink, it's obvious you need your head examined.😮

Seriously, what a ride. I actually flinched a few times while watching, afraid I was going to hit one of the big rocks or get flipped over the handle bars when I caught a tree root. That was some good riding though, some of those turns were downhill hairpins. Womp!
I liked the absence of music, the wind , crunching of leaves and your breathing were much more effective.

Nice job, it really was a great ride, but I am glad I went with you while my butt was in this chair at the farm.

This should be a $50 post!🚲🚀

I sure do appreciate these kind words. Thank you @farm-mom. I've watched it several times now, am I the only one who thinks it feels like a video game?

Glad you agree with absence of music, I was pretty uncertain about that one. The authentic sounds just sounded better. Oh, thanks a lot for reblogging this one too. 👍🏿

Shrink? Last time I did that I had the dude confessing all about how he and his wife are having extra marital affairs and they both know the other one knows but neither have stopped. And how it's at the point where the kids know. But my insurance covered the tab so, whatever, it was an order anyway. Guess he needed someone to talk to.

Don't think I didn't get excited when you mentioned something in the mail though!

With an audience like you, the fact you think it's worth $50 is worth a lot to me, big huge THANKS. More to come @farm-mom, it's my pleasure to entertain you.

I know Nuth ing. i PLEAD THE 5TH.
