Surprises and Progress in our Indoor Garden

in Succulent growers5 months ago

Hi dear Hivers, I hope you're having a good start to the weekend !

My last article on our little indoor garden was on 17 July. Which means that I've been concentrating more on the one we now have in the countryside, which requires even more work ! However, you can get back to this update via here.

Here I would like to introduce you to two plants - a lemon tree and a cactus - that grow spontaneously together. To be honest, it's more the lemon tree that came along by chance, probably when I needed to add a bit of compost. In any case, it's a lovely surprise and each of the plants seems to be doing very well at the moment !

Next comes one of our specimens of Kalanchoe daigremontiana. In Spanish, we call it "mil hijos" in reference to all the little shoots that grow on the leaves and take root when they fall into the earth. It's very easy to reproduce and if I remember correctly, we started with just one leaf.

DSC_2148.JPG

This is another specimen of Kalanchoe, but I can't remember what type it is. On the other hand, I have the impression that its mode of dissemination is the same - well, we haven't seen it yet !

DSC_2145.JPG

This little plant of Adromischus cooperi is a joy to behold ! In fact, since we've stopped watering it so much, it's never looked better ! Which goes to show that it's not water that plants need, but the right amount of water !

DSC_2151.JPG

Then there's our only survivor of all the Crassula perforata shoots that had taken well. That's why I think we're going to take good care of this one so that we can multiply it again !

DSC_2160.JPG

DSC_2161.JPG

I tried to take a few photos of what was growing around my feet, but without too much success... at which point the sun went behind a cloud and that didn't really help !

DSC_2142.JPG

DSC_2159.JPG

Let's move on to these young avocado shoots... Yes, I know, one of the three is no longer young and for good reason : it's dead. I have to admit, I didn't behave very well on that one !

Look at the amount of roots in the pot in the second picture! But from now on, I'm going to hurry up and get everything in the ground, at least before Christmas !

DSC_2155.JPG

DSC_2156.JPG

The two surviving shoots are full of life, but I don't think I should wait too long either...

DSC_2163.JPG

Let's finish with a slightly more general view, including our papyrus, which never seems to be doing so well... Quite simply, four or five of the little bunch of stems reaching upwards reach the ceiling, at a height of around 2.5 meters !

I hope you've enjoyed this article and the photos of our plants, and I'd be interested to know your favourites and also to see the ones you have at home !

Thank you for your visit and see you soon,

<3

<3

I should also show our cactuses again.

I would be curious to see those !

Have a lovely Sunday ✌️😘

My pleasure and in between the power cuts over here, I will assemble some photos to post sooner, rather than later. !LOLZ

I hope that your Sunday was also good and may the new week be kind to you.

Ahh, I hope it's still find with the power cuts ! I bet you manage it well !

Don't hesitate to mention me in the post, I would be curious to see that :)

Many thanks and I wish you a nice day ahead ✌️

Oh yes, we cope with the power cuts, as we have had them every year now for many years. The only problem that we have is that they keep on increasing the prices every year. How do you pay for something that you don't get?

Sure, I will mention your tag name in the post.

Thank you and a good day also for you!

!BEER

Yes, indeed, that's the absurd side of some things managed in a modern or liberal way... although I'm not a complete pastist, we have to admit that some things are less well managed, more expensive and less efficient, which is a bit too much sometimes !

All right, that will help me to keep an eye ;)

Thank you 😇

Add corruption and mismanagement plus a dire lack of maintenance to your modern or liberal way, then it becomes a real and dark nightmare.

No problem!

Oui, on maximise les chances de passer l'hiver héhé :)

Your Adromischus cooperi looks so good! I lose my A. festivus a while ago. One of the plants I did not want to lose :(

Isn't it ? Even us who took care of it, we were completely surprised !

I lose my A. festivus a while ago.

Oh, no...! 😞 I know the feeling and share it, it's strange how sometime, just a little change can be decisive...

But is you gray feline is not involved ? I suppose not, as he must have learnt that fat plants were a non-zone for him !

Have a lovely Sunday dear @ewkaw😘

No, she doesn't nibble on succulents. I am pretty sure it was too much water at some point. They seem to be very picky about it. When I noticed it was too late.

Yeah, water seems indeed to be a key factor for the Adromischus !

Ha, yes, I suppose succulents aren't part of the cat park 😅

Have a good end of the year dear @ewkaw 😘

Thanks dear @jlinaresp ✌️ !

Did you plant the lemon and cactus seeds together or how come they are growing together?

No, the cactus was already here and the I may have dropped a bit of compost, and in this one, there were lemon seeds haha 😅

You got great plants here and they are doing well. The Adromischus cooperi plants looks like something edible.

Thanks @iskawrites :)

I'm not sure about the fact that this one is edible... or just if you're super hungry haha 😅
