As human beings that go through stress and difficulties, it is essential to know when a reset is needed and how to go about it.

Most times as individuals, we neglect our mental health and our overall wellness due to certain variables like work, family, etc, and even though sometimes these things are unavoidable, we still need to care for ourselves.

For the longest time, I never really knew about how essential resets were, and I would let myself get overworked until I breakdown which wasn't good for my productivity.

I never let myself have breaks and it only took me having a mental breakdown to realize that I needed time off to reset and refresh.

Now, while talking about resets, it is important to know how to identify when a reset is needed and how to go about it.

HOW DO I IDENTITY WHEN A RESET IS NEED?

For me, I know that I primarily need a reset when I start getting easily irritable and angry, on days like this, even the littlest thing can get me to blow up and even people who I usually wouldn't get angry at, can make me angry.

Another way I know I need a reset is when I start getting very emotional, usually, I am not someone who shows her feelings openly, so when I start crying randomly, I know I need to take a break.

FAVORITE PLACES TO GO TO RESET

As someone who is a homebody and hates leaving the house, there are just a few places that I can go to reset, and these places have to be free of crowds because I can't deal with people when I need a reset.

Some of these places can include beaches, cinemas, gardens, and houses of friends because these are places where I know I feel most comfortable and at peace.

It is also important to know that I would only go to public places on days that I feel like there wouldn't be people.

FAVORITE ACTIVITIES TO DO FOR SELF-CARE

The first thing that comes to my mind as an activity to do for self-care is to go swimming, I learned how to swim when I was eight years old and I always feel at peace when I do.

Other activities I do for self-care include watching movies, listening to music, eating food, and playing board games.

I try to do these activities at least twice a week to keep my mental health in check so that it doesn't get bad to the point of a breakdown.

FINALLY,

Since I started taking time off and doing activities to reset, I realized that I have been way better, so, I’ll advise everyone to take time off to reset and refresh because it is very necessary.

This is my entry to this week’s #KISS and I chose to answer question one, I will also be inviting @iskawrites to participate in this.

Games, films and music are great ways to reset and recharge. Exercise as well. I bet swimming would be really good for that since it can help you burn off some excess energy and also be very relaxing.

P.S. I've never seen a green Monopoly board before, only the classic white color lol. Cool!

Exercise used to be a means but I got too obsessive with losing weight so I don’t do it anymore, swimming is amazing and I love it so much.

There is a classic white color? I have never seen it

It looks like this. But I guess it's also kind of green as well just not as bright and vibrant.

Wow, this looks really good, never seen it before.

Hello @khaleesii

I tend to have similar signals that indicate to me that I need to take some time out.
I like all the activities that you've mentioned, especially the one about swimming:)
I am not a water person, but I enjoy doing aqua aerobics in the pool and find it as a great activity to reset as well as an effective way to burn fat.

I thought the monopoly board looked odd, so I'm relieved to see the original one that I know linked below:)

Hello @khaleesii even if we are drowning in work and problems our body is very wise and sooner or later it will tell us in different ways that we must stop to restart, I think your signals are very similar to mine 😊.

Exactly, we aren't smarter than our bodies even though we think we are.

There was a time when I was overworking myself out and I started experiencing migraines trust me it was at that point I knew this young boy needed a proper rest. I took a leave from work and rested well without anything bothering me and I definitely got myself back. Self-care and reset is really necessary because you may think you good but you but when you gonna break down you won't see it coming.

Exactly mehn, I don’t know why most times we have to let ourselves break before realizing we need rest

Well, it just happens most times especially when you've told yourself you have to meet up with something at the end you work yourself out. So that's why I advice people to always have plans made out for the day or the week, especially the day before it starts, so you can be able to utilize your time and have space for other things.

This is actually great advice because usually I am a go with the flow kind of person, I need to stop that because it gets me more stressed

Yeah lol..I know how it is, so planning is everything 🤗

I need to do that 😆
