Hive SEO: Write Perfect Title and Meta Descriptions for More Traffic

in #hive4 years ago

Today I will just talk about the importance of post title and meta description. A perfectly written title can make a lot of difference. Title is the first thing that readers see and decide whether they want to read the full article or not. So to get a lot of traffic you have to draw the attention of your readers at first glance. And you can do it just with a TITLE.

Now, if you are not familiar with SEO, you probably don't about meta description. What is Meta Description?

Meta description is a snippet with 160 characters or letters that summarizes the whole article. When you search on Google you can see little description below tile of every article. That is Meta Description.

You can manually input what you want to show in the meta description, you can write a long description but more than 160 letters won't be shown.

I just checked the meta description of Hive posts, and 110-117 characters can be seen in Meta Description. And you can't manually choose or input your meta description here. Only the first few lines will be shown in the description.

So you should write the most attractive lines at the beginning to make your article click-worthy. Now, let's learn -

how to write an attractive, click-worthy, and SEO optimized title for your Article.

1

At first, you must use the average length in the Title, not too short or not too long. According to SEO, 35 - 65 characters are good for title length.

2

You must let the people know what you'll serve with your post title. Suppose, your article is about Tennis and you wrote "Best sport you should play at least once" in the title. Then you are misleading your audience.

Of course, the title is attractive. But it's not giving any clue about Tennis at all. So, you may lose some potential readers.

3

"Top 10 Classic games you must play at least once in your life" or
"Best 10 Classic games I love to play"

Which one looks attractive to you? For me it's the first one. Words like "You must do", "You Should" makes the title more click-worthy.

4

Think like a reader. Imagine if you are a reader, how would you like to see the title.

5

Use the primary keyword in your article. I talked about this a lot in my SEO related articles. Suppose your primary keyword is "Bad Investment Habits". Then you can write the article title like this one - "7 Bad Investment Habits You Need to Quit ASAP".

6

People often ask - Which symbol should I use in the title: "|" or "-". Believe me, this doesn't make any difference according to SEO. You can use the symbol you like. Just make sure your keywords stay at the beginning of your title.

Now, let's learn -

how to write Hive-friendly and SEO optimized click-worthy meta description.

1

As I already told you in Hive blog, the first 110 to 117 characters will be shown as Meta Description. So make sure you place attractive words to attract your audience in the first few lines. And in the terms of SEO, Meta Description shouldn't be more than 155 characters.

2

You should use your primary keyword in meta description at least once. If your keyword is - "Bad Investment Habits" then you must use this in the first paragraph beside your post title.

3

Just look at the screenshot to get more ideas. In this post my primary keyword was "Hive Wallet" and I used Hive Wallet both in the title and Meta Description, at the first line actually.

4

Try to summarize your whole article in the meta description. You can write good Meta Description by answer following 2 questions -

  • What are you offering to your readers?
  • Why they should read your post?

So, you already know that the ''Title" of any article matters a lot!
We are seeing a lot of articles, a lot of posts on Hive blog, and on other blogs everyday. Let's say it again in another way.

We are seeing a lot of post titles every day. Then we are deciding, whether should we read it or not, based on the title and Meta Description.

In terms of SEO, the most important part of your article is the title of the article. When you use a proper title, visitors from any search engine will come to read your article.

Whether it is a search engine or social media, people see only a small part of the article you write, and that is the title of the article.

So, if you write a title that is easy to understand and represents what the article is about, whether from the Google search result or social media, everyone will click on that link (article).

And remember, if more people click on your article link in Google search results, then your blog's CTR (Click through rate) is better. More clicks on your blog from Google search or better CTR mean that your blog image is better in the eyes of Google.

And if you follow the rules of SEO, use primary keywords in title and meta description, and write click-worthy title, then you will have a high chance to rank your Hive article on Google.
