RE: The Brit List - September 2021

in #hive2 years ago

He still made more than most people on that post. I know he is active on 'the other site' and that will not make him friends here. Don't seem to be many active Brits over there, but it's his choice. Hope you are well.

Sort:

You say that as someone with a very well paid full time job. I doubt it’s possible to live off 18 dollar posts every few days. His life is these sites from what I see he is a very active member of discord, he runs radio shows, interviews people ( thars how I interacted with him), researches the sites and posts. You have never been down voted either I don’t think.

I don’t think you understand the psychological affect when someone works really hard on a post, gets good rewards and has them snatched away st the last minute just because someone who has more stake than most on the site, personally doesn’t like them. We will never agree on this I don’t think and I will never engage with anyone who downvotes others and takes away their livelihoods. To me it is morally repulsive. Each to their own of course I can’t stop someone from doing it but I will not engage with anyone who does it.

Well I have downvoted lots of people on Hive, but that is because they are actively abusing the platform with plagiarism or excessive self votes. I do not generally do it for differences of opinion.

The community have to moderate the platform as nobody else is going to do it. That is how it was designed. There are finite rewards to share out each day and we want them to go where they are deserved. Of course opinions will vary on what deserves rewards and we have lots of people with strong/radical opinions. Your case of losing big rewards was down to someone thinking that rancho/haejin is not serving Hive well with their votes. I know that hurt, but I can see you are doing much better than most people.

You can argue about what deserves rewards, but it is not necessarily about how hard you work or what it cost to create something. I'm sure you can sell your art anyway. Hive is something new and radical. It is bound to have issues along the way. Why not just enjoy this extra income you would not have otherwise?

I don't think the downvote mechanism will radically change despite some people crying for change. Many of them will be like you and got the odd big DV after getting some big upvotes. I just saw someone complaining when they still made over $100 on the post.

Stay well.

You have never been down voted either I don’t think.

We both get downvoted daily, if you only knew.

It's rare that someone is downvoted due to being disliked, especially by an account with a large stake.

As Steve says, daily rewards/inflation is finite and it's generally a disagreement over payout.

Posting multiple times a day can easily be seen as being greedy, as could posting on Hive and Steem (many large accounts had all their Steem stolen so you can see why they don't like this).

Downvotes are essential, but those who haven't spent days tracking circle-jerks and crazy self-voting don't really understand this.

Never downvoted? LOL! I bet I've had it more than you, but other people support me because I contribute to the community. Yes, I have other income, but I have put a lot of effort into Hive because I give a shit about it. Some people retaliate when I act against their abuse. Complaining about the system that has given you $300 on a post seems a bit ungrateful.

I’m complaining about the down voters, not the whole of hive, the downvoters are ruining what could be great. The downvoters have given me nothing only taken! I guarantee they never gave me an upvote of any worth... go check! And they regularly get huge upvotes themselves on average posts. One guy reverse psychology or something I even met him in real life he gives some of my posts 17 c but then just down voted two of them 5 dollars each. Sorry it’s negative energy, puts out negative feelings and I want nothing to do with anyone that partakes.

I downvoted them because I thought they were over-rewarded, the upvotes were because of a trail I follow, you're welcome to them.

Powering up and Voting/ Downvoting really are the purest act of Benevolence on Hive BTW - Rather than short term cashing out a very few of us have settled for what is a less than optimal 10% return on curation because we believe in fundamentals of the platform.

And we use our HP to benefit large numbers of people (while losing out financially ourselves because we could have made A LOT MORE trading our Hive for something else).

And DVing is an important part of making sure rewards are distributed as widely as possible.

If you get Dvd it's true that you get slightly fewer rewards, but don't worry, that means more more for everyone else, so from the holistic perspective of the system, it's still a win.

And whenever you're DVd by a larger stake holder, they are really wrapping you in the shroud of their own benevolence - your post is still visible but the rewards are gifted to someone else, by those who have themselves sacrificed their own greater gains by keeping Hive powered up.

It's sort of like they power up so you don't have to, which I notice you don't very much.

Maybe appreciate that you are making a lot more from multiple posts per day (plus less on Steemit and Blurt) than most people make. It seems some big accounts like you and may not even comment to say why.

Those who downvote you may just think some of your posts make more than they should. That is their right as stakeholders. They are likely to be giving votes to others and not just the select few.

Complaining about something that pays you so well seems wrong to me. It's not 'negative energy, it's economics. You make more, others get less. I appreciate you need income, but nobody is entitled to Hive rewards.

I am not going to downvote you, but constant complaining is not a good look. Are you one of those who refuses to promote Hive because some people get downvoted? You have the option to leave if you don't like it. Your choice. I will just get on with what I do and that will include downvoting abuse.

They also might think that 5 posts in one day is just plain old milking. The rewards pool is for everyone.

Exactly. Many of us could exploit auto-votes much more. I feel around one post per day is enough from me.

Totally. It just looks like exploiting.

She won't see my comment though as she muted me for downvoting her 5th post in one day. :0)

I’m not talking about the great people here and the supportive people that I’ve worked hard to connect with. I’m talking about the people who have nothing positive to do with their time than take away from people and create a negative energy. It’s no fun getting your first big payout in ages and waiting to see if it’ll ever get to the rewards section. No one can find any stability or trust here whilst this continues. How can anyone invest time and money when that happens? I had a good run and actually stated rly investing time here, I was travelling so I could almost work full time on posts and I then as soon as yoh get a down vote or have to check constantly to see if it’s goint to make payment after getting all excited it’s a mind f. Imagine if every week your payment check could be taken away from so you didn’t ever know how much would be removed each month. How can you expect any creatives to exist like that if this becomes a decent part of their income. Of course it’s in the site rules but I know for one of they remove the ability to downvote I would actually invest money in this site and really go for it in terms of creating.

Downvotes are a necessary part of Hive. Live with that and the fact that rewards are not settled until payout.

You are investing time and getting paid. Absolutes like

No one can find any stability or trust here

are blatantly untrue. A small minority get downvotes and pissing off those who care about Hive does you no favours.

As for 'take them to court'. No need, we just remove the plagiarists' ill-gotten rewards. Can you imagine what it would cost to track them down and pay legal costs?

Enjoy your rewards.

Down voting genuine spam like repetition of posts all the time and plagerism is a bit different but even then if someoen does plagerise you can take them to court.

And talking about steem check acidyo out there he has multiple accounts and huge delegation and rinsing the rewards pools daily. Yet no one else is allowed to be there lol.

Says the woman with multiple posts over $100.

Screenshot_20211206_120013.png

acidyo has down a lot more for Hive than you have. People appreciate that. He's only posting about once per week on his main Hive account. He could make more if he did it daily. For some people it's not just about money. Where is is posting on Steemit? That platform can just die as far as I am concerned. It got corrupted. Just see who gets most of the rewards.

We will have to disagree massively on this one.

He’s making so much money on steemit right now I doubt he cares.

Where? Anyway, Steemit don't care about how people earn, so people will milk it whilst they can. Just see the difference in price between HIVE and STEEM. That will increase.

I can't post on Steemit as my account is censored for giving a shit.

Hive is doing well like I said if there was no downvotes and risk of being taken to zero at any point I would really invest my time here and not spread myself, creatives do that because they are living in fear on here that if they say something that someone doesn’t like their whole wage goes. You wouldn’t have a job like that. I guarantee if your job had a variable pay check that took away from you st random if your boss disagreed with you and aome months could be 0 you wouldn’t feel very safe to only have that job either. I guarantee it.

Yet still you earn...

Be grateful for what Hive has done for you. Where also could you make as much?

I am grateful for everyone wh has supported me and always express that. The down voters have done nothing for me and in my eyes nothing for the platform only make it a horrible environment: thars my opinion and we are all entitled to one. I guess if enough people share it they will pass the proposal to remove the downvote.in wich case I would promote hive strongly. As it is I still got ppl in here I got @lauralauze on here just from travelling in mexico and she’s doing great. I just don’t go around telling everyone the people onboard.

There is nothing wrong with having posts of 100 dollars that’s about £40. Why on earth should we cap peoples earning potential. The drive to be able to do well and be rewarded for content is what drives people. Many of my posts are about £3. I was putting in almost full time effort to earn that. I doubt you would even go to work for an average of £25 a day. People want to feel they can evolve and grow not be capped.

Nobody should take Hive rewards for granted. As I have said before you are getting a share of the daily rewards and most make less than you. It should not be compared with a salaried job. Totally different economics.

Thats because you have a highly paid salary job. Most creatives are freelancers and at the least use this as a boost. If your spending hours a day on engaging, often using materials to make things, creating, making content and your building something then it absolutely does become a part of your income you come to rely on. It’s an absolutely awful energy to get excited when you achieve a highly paid post and then at the last minute get it down voted because someone doesn’t like you or your opinion. In My opinion it creates a horrible energy, now if you get a well paid post there is no excitement only anxiety.

Honestly how would you feel if your pay check for your job could be taken away last minute if anyone in your office decided they didn’t like you, you got too much money, you got more than them or you expressed an opinion one of them didn’t like. How would you feel if some months you earnt nothing at all from your job? If hive rly wants to attract super invested bloggers it has to have some form of stability as you evolve and grow and build your page.

There is a girl on blurt who gave up her job as she only needs 15 dollars a day to support her family in her country and she was regularly making enough here, after a few years of effort to leave her job. Now she got downvotes and it ruined her life. Sure you can say don’t rely on any one income bit irs like you being made redundant just cause one person doesn’t like your opinion on the shape of the globe or something. The reality is everyone would be in arms about it, it would go to court and you would have some rights.

The downvoting is killing community spirit, freedom of speech and makes everyone feel negative logging into the platform. It’s a shame as so much good here but I’m dissaponted in seeing people who I respected joining in. Like I said nothing I can do other than choose to have nothing to do with anyone behaving in such a manner so I’m not annoyed by seeing the negativity.
