Crypto is Mooning and I Need to Vomit

in #life2 months ago

I’ve been a Crypto Bull since early 2017. In fact Crypto has been a fairly large part of my life and work focus for almost 7 years now. I’ve lived and breathed Crypto and I preach the good word about how Crypto can transform our world to anyone who will listen...but this latest surge in the Crypto Market is making me sick. Sick with FOMO

Source

You see, from late 2021 to early 2023 I sold most of my Crypto holdings so that I could pay for a brand new house for my young family. I kept my HIVE holdings because I’ve continued to be active in the ecosystem here over the Crypto Winter, but that’s about it. My BTC and ETH are all gone and I’ve been trying to find a way to rebuild my Crypto Portfolio before the next big Bull Market (which I’ve been expecting) and I thought I still had time.

In a nutshell this run looks too early and too strong to me. I was expecting 2024 to be a gradual run up toward the All-Time-High around November / December with 2025 being the year of Euphoria. Family life and real world challenges have kept me busy and my cashflow situation has been a bit of a problem so here I am watching Crypto Moon and I’m seriously underweight to the point where it hurts.

It makes me feel physically sick to have known that I was right about the next Crypto Bull Market being due, but messed up my personal finances, made too many sacrifices and missed the boat. Instead of celebrating the dream of Financial Freedom I am faced with the prospect of having to return to Corporate Work just to pay the bills while the market runs away from me. I don’t like to live with regrets but I also feel like I am not going to get past this one.

If you own a house, it's more valuable than a number on a screen. Don't feel sick, I think HIVE is going to ride this wave up and who knows... maybe it'll be the opportunity to buy another house. :-)

I don’t like to live with regrets but I also feel like I am not going to get past this one.

Don't live with regrets, make the best of the investments you currently have and pay no attention to what's going on with what you don't have, even if you once did.

Thank you. You speak wise words and they are appreciated.

I think Mrs Buggs deeply appreciates the new home. Having a permanent place to call home gives me a deep sense of security and stability that renting doesn't. I sacrificed my health working long shift hours, worked a side gigs, moonlighted and thousands of hours of lost sleep writing and engaging on Hive on top of that. With my mortgage paid off early I have some financial breathing room.❤️

Thank you Kerris. Deep down I know you are right and we are both very grateful to have that security too. I just have to keep reminding myself that the glass is more than half full and I should stop looking at numbers on a screen. Be well my friend.

I feel your pain. So much oppertunity loss as I too have been trying to rebalance my financial position and eliminate some debt. I wanted to be a whole coiner, and thought I could have most of 24 to stack like normal halving cycles. Those pesky ETF's are taking all the BTC off the exchange.

Positive note, in the long run, this will be cheap. Infinity divided by 21M coins.... we will talk about they days when it was sub 100k..... so we still have time, it always feels expensive and like we missed the run.

So true. It's just been such a big move the rational part of my brain says it's technically overbought right now even though I know it can (and likely will) go much higher.

I don’t think this is the start of the bull run yet. But cheap crypto might not be much left.

It's hard to tell. I'm not thinking clearly at the moment. This hockey-stick move has really surprised me.

It’s no where near the start of the bull run. You have time, take a deep breathe brother.

FOMO is a real thing, but so is the drive to succeed. I've been in this game since 2012 and, like many early players, I've stumbled along the way. Learning from those mistakes without being consumed by FOMO is tough, fact is, you've been in it for the long haul. Recognize your srengths, acknowledge your slip-ups, and know that you've got time to navigate forward with confidence.

Bitcoin's journey is like a rollercoaster – up, down, and all around. We've seen the euphoria of bull runs and the despair of crashes. At our meetups, it's the same story: packed houses during the highs, sparse attendance in the lows. But these fluctuations are par for the course. The key? Stick to a solid routine, rain or shine.

Replace bad habits with good ones – funnel those funds into Bitcoin regularly, whether it's weekly, biweekly, or monthly. Consistency is key. This strategy, known as dollar-cost averaging, can help ease your mind of FOMO.

In poker, it's not about one stellar hand; it's about consistently staying in the game. Win enough to cover the blinds, and you'll be in it till the final showdown. Stay steady, stay focused, and success will follow.

Very wise advice, thank you. I know I need to step back, process and take the long view. The poker comparison is spot on.

Owning property is never a bad thing though. You shouldn't regret that at all. I understand where you are coming from.

I think everyone who has ever been involved in crypto has a story like this. The bottom line is that there are very few people that are really pleased about liquidating when they did. Remember all the millionaires that were created during the UNREAL time when BTC hit $27,000! We were NEVER going to see a price like that ever again... haha. For me I missed out on the Doge craze and thought it was going to keep going up and up and up. We all know what happened there and I am just happy that I got my initial investment back and made a bit. Now SHIB, that's a different story :P

Yes, everyone who spends enough time in this crazy space has a story worthy of regret. For me my worst is EOS. I was so convinced that EOS was going to be a game changer and it's been a total dog. The best life lessons are always hard to take.

On the flip side, you used it to get what most people don't have anymore - a home.

I'm closer to 40 than 30 and even with all my savings and good salary, the idea of owning a house is just one of those things you read about in history books to me. It's just not a feasible dream, but one I really want. I'd GLADLY trade in all my crypto for homeownership! That's a pretty good selling off point if you ask me, even if it didn't turn you into a gold-plated emperor eating grapes for the next 50 years.

This is very true, and in 2021 I was thinking exactly the same. I would have traded it all for a roof over my head...and I pretty much did. Don't give up your dream, there are lots of things I never thought were possible until they were...

Oh man. That’s a bummer brother.
Yea I decided to love broke life and put every penny into bitcoin since Jan 2023, it’s worked out well for us. But I remember selling 20 Bitcoin in 2013 to use toward my condo. I can relate! It was $800 when I sold after buying for $80.00 I used as down payment for the condo we live in now. I used to to rent out most of the years. I was able to build up 2 Bitcoin from 2017 on and an additional 0.93 toward a third. We stopped spending money on everything social to do it and it paid off but only because Ashlee is on board. Man it would have been better if I kept the 20 I had in 2013!!!! Oh well I can’t change a thing. Just start dollar cost averaging into bitcoin at even a small amount weekly. In a few years you’ll be glad u did. Even if it’s a few bucks a week!

Please whenever u do don’t take the advice of comments below about going into pools and trading. Just buy bitcoin so u got some for when the dollar system breaks next decade.

I agree the cycle is a bit early but with the growth and mainstream money pouring in and people knowing the last 3 cycles to a point it doesn’t shock me to see it a little early. Just buy a little bitcoin where u can and hold it for the long term. It’s going far higher, but I believe it’s not about fiat value but for what it will be when the dollar collapses many years from now.

You're a smart dude, for sure. I am a big fan of dollar cost averaging too but I just don't have the spare cash or the income right now to do it without selling my stack and I really don't want to do that.

I feel ya brother
But even a little $5.00 here and there adds up 👍

theres always 2028/29.....

Will be over a million by then. Buy now! Seriously! 125K incoming next 18 months.. it’s not 2 late

You're not alone brother, just know that!

That sucks! Surviving today does come first though, timing is really bad for you and your family. There will be dips still, and the run may be just warming up!

@buggedout! Your Content Is Awesome so I just sent 1 $BBH (Bitcoin Backed Hive) to your account on behalf of @thebighigg. (16/50)

2025 being the year of Euphoria

Less than a year of accumulation until “Euphoria”, this gets me excited 🥳🍻

Those who invested in BTC won. BTC made 4x since the fall of 2022, while Hive's price went sideways. I believe that BTC is still the right choice, as a correction can hit hard altcoins. Hive can rally around the end of the year when the confidence becomes solid. It's sad to admit that we were on the wrong horse.

In a nutshell this run looks too early and too strong to me.

Oh man I can totally empathize with this. I am in the same boat. After the pandemic life has become so insanely expensive. It pissed me off that I've been in this crypto game so long... Much longer than so many people, but I keep missing out on all of the big gains because I have to support my family and pay for life in general.

Read about some PIMP Shit or Look for the PIMP District

It’s never too late gains will always be there !

I think the bull run is actually about to start
This may just be like a tip of the iceberg

I hope you find enough cash to get in again before the real mooning starts. Please try everything to make that happen, the highly expected time is now very close. Thanks for writing and have a great day.

That's right, the market has started to move up very quickly and this time it looks like the all-time high will be broken before the long haul and the market will take us to $100,000 to $150,000. It may seem like a fact that things have to be sold when the need arises, just like you sold things to buy a house and now their prices have gone up a lot.

Hurry up and start trading again with a little bit of the liquid rewards you're getting. Then start investing those in the diesel pools. I actually have a little class that teaches how to trade on our decentralized finance platform and I'm doing phenomenal. So is all my friends.

@buggedout

Please do not take this advice!

Just dollar cost average into bitcoin! Don’t trade these pools my brother! E

Lol how do you think I got to here?

Now I'm making more bu trading and getting paid in the pools. But yeah you gotta know where to find the interest rates.

I didn't yuck your yum. Thanks for shitting on something because you don't understand it...

Go educate yourself. Then you can use that to buy into BTC... Which I do and have.

Oh yeah I've earned and accumulated my 1% of a Bitcoin for free... Now I'm going to make the goal 2%... Then let's try for more...

Lol

You don't even know how things work here and it shows.. lol
