RE: One Shot At Glory

in #life6 years ago

Here in the USA sometimes people must turly be warriors or brave knights to tear up their garden lawns and plant veg. I kid you not, there are parts of even Florida ( A great growing region) where it is illegal to plant vegetables in your garden! And I've just heard that in a state I used to live in and some family are still in here that seed and plant sales have been deemed 'non essential ' and even the big box stores areas of seeds/plants soil and supplies have been roped off and not allowed to sell those wares!

Luckily in my bit of curmudgeonly ole New England we're all dyed in the wool gardeners and I think if they tried to take our seeds/plants we'd turn around with the spade or rake we'd already have in our hand and give "Them" a good wallup! At least, I know I would. And don't even THINK about touching my chickens!...

Okay, I've gone off a bit hot under the collar, I'll compose myself, but yes, Dig for Victory! Till it up, plant it up and be damned the Cargo ships of food (though I do worry about food shortages) nothing is more terrifying than a hungry population. :/

Now soldier on with your weapons of spade and hoe!

I had heard that there were places where it was illegal to plant vegetables in your garden. What the heck is that all about! What happened to freedom!! O dug up a huge bit today to sow garlic and onion. I like to reek a bit :OD

Mmm such good plants. All those bulb Allium types just WANT to grow. I mean you can eat the things, then restart their tops and get more!

Yes the 'freedom' Americans go on about is rubbish and we've not had any such freedoms in this country for decades, really it all changed post Civil War, but most of my fellow compatriots know more about what football team did this or that than even where States are located on a map, so for them to understand the constitution and it's various disuse is a LOT to ask.

Garlic needs a good cold on it to get good, so usually planting it in autumn is good to get it the follwing season, but again, Alliums WANT to grow and multiple so they'll do it!

I didn't know that about the cold thing. Fortunately, is quite cold here up till next month! That might do it!
