I wrote a post a few days ago about the Raspberry Pi 400 and I get a comment from @lasseehlers in my STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math community).
The first part is just responding to something about the Raspberry Pi 400 but then he throws in this bs about the Earth being flat.
Honestly, I never understood this theory, I mean you can prove it to yourself for like $100 using a model rocket with a camera or a $60 weather balloon and a GoPro.
Apparently, I'm brainwashed by the Illuminati. I know this isn't the greatest place to dispute this, as I'm likely outnumbered.
He later provides some "proof" referencing a video where the Earth looks flat.
This video is a 2 second extract that goes on for 4.5 minutes from a larger video taken out of context. I dug up the original video that this references.
It is a video made by Christopher Farms called the "Flight of Little Piggy". It is even linked in his own video.
Here is the actual video, not a 2 second clip that makes the Earth appear flat because it was filmed using a wide angle lens and the device is countering the rotations.
While it is quite obvious watching the video the Earth is indeed round, it is most obvious when the balloon finally pops and it is no longer trying to counter rotation.
I provided this video to @lasseehlers which counters his own argument using his own source.
As expected, he was done with the conversation now that proof is on the menu and looks to make a quick exit.
Not without leaving these words of wisdom.
Now I'd usually ignore someone making ridiculous statements such as that, but he did so in a community about Science and I felt it necessary to allow facts and reality prevail.

I've encountered some of these people here too. They love to believe they are in on the story behind some conspiracy that somehow all nations have collaborated on. Astronomers, meteorologists, pilots, sailors, cartographers and millions more would have to be in on it, but not of them have seen fit to spill the beans. Instead we are asked to believe a few Youtubers and rappers. They will try to get you to watch some videos, but it's really not worth your time. Some of the scientific ones that counter them can be educational though.
There will be things that are hidden from us, but considering that most people don't care what shape the world is this seems like a lot of effort for no reward.

There are various ways to prove the round Earth but one degree arc of the Earth is 111 km. There are some things that are imperceptible with just the eye or a camera.
We've known the Earth's size and curvature values since the ancient Greeks. I think the round Earth theory is something we had since before we had historical records. I couldn't find any reference to a historian reporting that they discovered that the Earth "wasn't flat after all". It's like fire, nobody knows when we discovered fire.
Jesus was not a flat-Earther. The Catholic church always had a round-Earth doctrine. Sometimes I think these "flat-Earthers" are pranking people. They are laughing their ass off as rational people try to convince them that the Earth is round and they pretend to deny it.
