Poll: Hey! What Are You Doing Here?

in #steem5 years ago

Hey everyone!

I was inspired by @krnel's post tonight. It was titled Chasing The Steem Dreem. In his post he raises some questions, and it kind of inspired me to do a poll. Of course I can't ask the people who left why they left, but I can ask those of you who are still remaining: Why are you still here? There's also the question I asked @whatsup the other day that was graciously made into a post: What would make you leave?

Well, now I reckon I'm gonna make this here survey!

I am a reluctant administrator on the FB group titled 'Steemit'. It is basically a post promotion group. There are 8400 members, but within the last month, there was an 79% decline in new members, and a 35% decline in posts, comments, and reactions. I think I can accurately assume that the same trend is being seen on the Steem platform. So that said, these are valid questions under the current circumstances, and I am in no way encouraging your departure, or trying to open up some kind of discontentment within you. Just curious is all. And hey, I'm still here too!

So these are multiple choice questions, but feel free to elaborate.

Why are you (still) here?

Choose one answer, or as many that apply to you.

A.) I'm holding out for better times.

B.) I love the people here.

C.) I have made an obligation, and have to continue with it.

D.) This is an outlet for my talents.

E.) This is still better than other social media sites.

F.) The posts are interesting.

G.) Free speech y'all!!!

H.) I don't have a life. Don't judge me.

I.) Why would you ask? Everything's fine!

J.) I'm on a mission.

K.) Other

So, what would make you leave?

source

A.) If I had no more hope in STEEM.

B.) If people were mean to me or ignored me.

C.) If our population gets too small.

D.) If this place was taken over by filth and/or spam.

E.) If I lost my sense of purpose.

F.) If censorship/flags/downvotes got to be too much.

G.) If there was somewhere else more lucrative to go.

H.) If I had a real job.

I.) If my feed was too uninteresting.

J.) Ahh, I can't handle it anymore!!! I'm outta here!

K.) Other

😂😘😜

Hope you play along!

Love, snowpea ❤

The funny thing is to me Steem the blockchain is as active as ever, I still can't manage to keep up with posts. Right now is a difficult time of year, with many busy with real world family life - if there is less active posting on that's certainly a benefit to anyone that is because it gives a great slice of the reward pool out as @zen-art pointed out.

A.) I'm holding out for better times. (and a hero)

B.) I love the people here.

D.) This is an outlet for my talents. (lol what talents)
E.) This is still better than other social media sites.
F.) The posts are interesting.

H.) I don't have a life. Don't judge me.

Leave? Your joking right? Why would anyone want to leave, this is a great place - you can create blog posts about anything you like, have fun and a chat in comments on posts, play cool games like @steemmonsters , enjoy videos with @dtube and music with @dsound, and even get fit using the @actifit app.

I'm here for the long haul of course, which no doubt is disappointing news for many people! But it's a hobby, so I don't have concerns about the monetisation side with the current market value of Steem.

Realistically though if the market value of Steem is anyones concern, do something about it. We can all contribute by bringing in new people who would be willing to invest in Steem if they like what they experience. Creating accounts is being addressed by the likes of @steempassport, but I am more then happy to create accounts myself on request for free, I'll even throw in a short term delegation so they can try it out - if they like it then hopefully they will invest to be able to interact better - if they don't they can go and I'll move my delegation elsewhere. Super easy, let's get more people interested and trying it out - then me might see the value of Steem rise as people invest in - because at the moment too many are just taking out.

I love your attitude, the effort you put into making this a great place to be, and just your heart in general.

I'm here for the long haul of course, which no doubt is disappointing news for many people!

How do you even figure? You are loved here. I can't see why anyone would have anything against you.

Loved like a puppy sat next to a pile of poop 🐶💩

Still here because:
A.) I'm holding out for better times.
B.) I love the people here.
D.) This is an outlet for my talents.
E.) This is still better than other social media sites.
   F.) The posts are interesting.

Would leave if:
A.) If I had no more hope in STEEM.
B.) If people were mean to me or ignored me.
D.) If this place was taken over by filth and/or spam.

Your answers are pretty much the same as what mine would be @thekittygirl! :)

By the way, did you know about the site dpoll.xyz for creating polls? Login to the site with your STEEM credentials (it uses SteemConnect for security) and you're good-to-go for creating your own poll! 🙂

Ironically, I found out like an hour after making my post lol.

B.) I love the people here.

J.) I'm on a mission.

I think I will be here till they shut it down, although as has been noticed, my participation has dropped a lot as life pressures demand my time elsewhere. To many heroes here to just walk away though, plus I am building what may be a great future for myself and loved ones.

Why are you (still) here?

A.) I'm holding out for better times.
B.) I love the people here.
E.) This is still better than other social media sites.
F.) The posts are interesting.

So, what would make you leave?

D.) If this place was taken over by filth and/or spam.
F.) If censorship/flags/downvotes got to be too much.

Anyway, I do not have any intention to leave now , as my day won't get completed without looking at the people around and knowing some best things through different posts.

Great post! K) I am still here because it takes so long to power down. I am cashing out ASAP. K) I am leaving beacuse of poor leadership. Everyting rises and falls on leadership. The HF was a disaster. Z) Im not really totally gone. I just want cash out before steem ends up on deadcoins.com I will get my wallet back down to Zero and tinker here for as long as it lasts.

The answer to the first question is A,D

The second question is K, because I am always suprised that I don't leave. What keeps coming me back to post and even check my feed is more of curiosity than anything else. I fell like I am on a frontier and a storm hit so people jumped ship.

I fell like I am on a frontier and a storm hit so people jumped ship.

I know what you mean. I made a couple attempts at deleting the people I follow who are no longer active. There are so many I can never finish, and it's kinda sad the sheer number of people who aren't here anymore.

I'm still here and decided to post once a day for 30 days. It has been fun. So I guess I should get a life now.

Why am I still here? A. B. D. E. F. G. J. K. (K = I've been here for a year and I truly love it and the community and also I think it could be even more mind-blowingly awesome than it already is and I want to be part of making that happen)

Why would I leave? Meh. D. F.

Interesting survey, I wonder what the overall results will be?

I love your attitude! We need more Steemians like you. I always wonder if the investors would be more confident if we were more confident. :)

Lol... I dunno. I think the platform and its dApps are still being developed. They're pretty amazing already but not always easy to use. Case in point: Dtube won't let me upload my daily blog this evening :/

The upshot is that not everybody sees the value in it when Facebook and YouTube and whatnot are easier to use, with fewer or no glitches. We need more streamlined, intuitive design, and better ease of use. Partiko is a step in the right direction I think. Things keep getting better, but it's still not to the point where I can introduce most people to Steemit and they're like "wow this is so cool".

@crimsonclad is running a contest that's kind of like a forum for thoughts on Steemit right now, you might find it interesting. I'm gonna write an entry in the next few days...

While several reasons to still be here apply...

K. Other- The experiment. Trying to build an application with no clear leader and a lot of different visions is one of the most interesting human experiments I've ever seen.

D.
And... the reasons we've discussed.

In addition...

If something else became more interesting. Right now, I love watching this. :)

Ok, so in some ways you just kind of sit back and spectate. There is definitely some excitement that hasn't been lost for Steem, and we still don't know where we are heading. There are many possibilities. Indeed it is interesting. :)

Why are you (still) here?
A.) I'm holding out for better times.
B.) I love the people here.
1st D.) This is an outlet for my talents.
2nd E.) This is still better than other social media sites.
F.) The posts are interesting.

Still here cause: A to the G for sure
Would hang if: I : If my feed was too uninteresting
