EVERYONE NEEDS TO START USING BITSHARES!!! POLONIEX: The Scourge Of The Cryptocurrency Exchange Space Is At It Again . . .

in #steemit7 years ago (edited)

As many of you know, Poloniex, the shittiest exchange to ever exist barring Mt. Gox, is at it yet again. As many of our beloved currencies are mysteriously banished to cryptocurrency prison (Ha! Thanks for that one, @robrigo) with no sign or update of when and if they're going to be released. This is begging to leave an extremely bad taste in my mouth and is keeping my stomach in knots. Not only that, but I think I'm dealing with a kidney stone at the moment which doubles up for being double-ultra-PISSED and ultimately worried.

GREAT!

OH WOW! FANTASTIC!!!

HOOORRRAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!

Also, ETH will not move from them.

The above image is the joke of the century. I've had tickets in for over a week with ZERO response. Actually, I've NEVER got a response from them, ever, not once.

I'm also extra pissed because I have quite a lot tied up on there and I just want to shift what I own into my own personal wallets. This is getting absurd and is really starting to smell like the beginning of a Mt. Gox 2.0 scenario, which I GENUINELY hope is not the case.

Either Poloniex is dying or they're intentionally hindering specific currencies. They're multi-million is not multi-billionaires at this point, surely to god they could hire up some help to get things sorted out.

I have deposits that wont deposit and withdrawals that will not withdrawal.

WHAT GIVES, POLONIEX?!
GET YOUR SHIT TOGETHER, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!

-- END OF RANT --

Sorry you guys, just needed to vent. If you're feeling the same, feel free to cut it loose here, this is a judgement free zone. EXPRESS YOUR ANGER, BREATHE DEEPLY, LET IT RIP.

I'll trade on bitshare when someone has the balls to put 100k in market making liquidity and bot it away using bittrex/polo.

I must be missing something very obvious because that's like one of the first step before expecting people to use an exchange.

Want to buy up to 123 steem at 30% above market? Go for it...

Up to 0.75 ETH at 48% above market ? Why not ?

Poloneix is playing with investors. People lost thousands of $ in it. a friend of mine lost almost $3k three months ago.
His ticket was not even answered by support. if I have the power to give money back to the people who lost it I would and shut down Poloneix definitely.
People are trying to earn some extra money investing in cryptocurrency and Poloneix in number 1 right now.
imagine you put in $1k from your hard earned money with expectation to earn some extra from it as investment and you wake up in the morning and find $0 in your balance.
this didnt happen to me but happened for people I know and this is not damn good at all.
Love for your brother and/or sister what you love for yourself

hello pls i want to buy bitcoin with my credit card. can you help out pls...contact me via mail [email protected]

are you in the USA? if so, coinbase.com is the best place.

I see...👀

While I am moving most of my popular altcoins to bitshares, I agree with the point you are making. I just headed to bitshares to buy some steemit and there is a huge gap between buy order and sell orders. But I think it is a matter of volumes. Once more people start using DEX(Distributed exchanges) I feel that this problem should go away. Once BTS start their marketing campaign this July 4th I am hoping that the volumes will also increase. But for now I would split my stash between centralised exchanges and Bitshares.

While most of the people are concentrating on the growth of their funds they are not paying attention to the fees they are paying to these centralised exchanges and the risks associated with storing their stash in these centralised exchanges. Having experience both these first hand I have learnt my lessons hardway. https://steemit.com/bitcoin/@gokulnk/why-i-am-moving-to-bitshares-and-you-should-too-part-1#@propagandalf/re-gokulnk-why-i-am-moving-to-bitshares-and-you-should-too-part-1-20170630t221253748z I will be writing them in these series to educate others at-least.

If you place an order at market rate, bots will eat it up.

Looks like a fraud
@Wiedy

nanohash is still paying you are a spamer im just spreading a new mining cloud, its paying out so is not a scam if you can prove it is a scam give the info, not just writte on all my comments the same, i can do it back and flag you because its paying right now and is online http://nanohash.net

Do you mean I am a "spammer"? How do I spam if I am just commenting under YOUR spam? I just want to warn people so lets see who gets more upvotes.
I think Nanohash is a scam because there is no real support on their site, they say the telephone number is coming soon, the registrated adress is a small landside in the UK, the server is in russia, there are numerous articles that users had a bad experience, they tell you min payout is 1$ and then they tell you its 20$ and you should mine more...
You just want people to use your affiliate link thats all!

But yeah, thanks for the downvote!
Rant over @wiedy

indeed. they said that their datacenters are from russian federation iceland and germany, and so then why is paying out right now? scam is when someone invest and loss they are giving for free 15KH/s for anyone who wants to start a mining bussisnes, and they are paying out, look payout 0.420 BTC in 9 days, its my second day and look there are the double of new total users, im the 4325

When I order the person on the other window likes to give my order sadly to somebody else.

I Definetly agree with you

Of course it needs volume and liquidity to be a sensible and viable medium as well as development. That's where my sentiment of people needing to become involved comes from. People are liquidity as well are liquidity bots. If we aren't making it happen, no one is.

On a side note, is max vote on this comment necessary? When you give to yourself on this level, you take away from others massively if you aren't familiar with the mechanics. That's like placing a thanksgiving turkey in your mouth as well as all side dishes at the table of your family as they sit and watch you with empty plates.

Upvoted, Re-Steemed and Promoted to the TOP! I NEVER use centralized exchanges. I use the Bitshares DEX. My wait for a deposit, withdrawal, or any transaction is 3 seconds! No bank or government or anyone else can seize, delay, or otherwise impair my funds. It's called Financial Freedom and liberty and justice for all :-)

I just had a sizeable debt settled yesterday and I asked for payment in bitusd! Not only were the funds in my wallet within seconds but I can hold them in this stable currency and then trade them at my leisure.

Don't Keep Your Funds on Centralized Exhanges.!

Thank you for sharing your insights on this, onceuponatime. I've had similar experiences with Bitshares DEX and been delighted with the 3 second time for transactions. This is most delightful in a world of increased speed and costs. Upvoted & will resteem.

can you educate me on the bitcoin,it seems interesting, fast and profiitable.

A good place to start is bitcoin.com. They have a lot of tutorials and info you can read to get up to speed. Plus, YouTube is a great place to find a lot of videos about what can be done with bitcoin. You'll enjoy it.

Ha ha this comment just made my fucking day @onceuponatime. Screw 'em institutions! Following you brother!

Yup, we can open the door, but it's up to each individual to walk through it (or not).

That's true. but sometimes you need help from people to say what to open and what not.

I have a question, I hope you want to see my post. Is this something common in your country?

https://steemit.com/photography/@rival/20-3-2005-my-daughter-was-born-see-what-my-friends-did

Really 3 secs? I will give it a try. Just started crypto a month ago but started with bittrex. Thx for your very clear answer. How was the Greece trip? followed you. you must be one Lucky guy to be part of this community. keep sharing.

I´m using Bittrex as well. Never had any issues with them. Bitshares doesn´t have that many coins so it´s very limited in use-cases. If they would add more coins I would use it but so far not really an option. Just my opinion ;)

You are going to work hard, spend innumerable hours trading, face down countless risks with equanimity and grow your net worth to a distinguished level making you a pillar of our crypto society! You will keep it on a trusted centralized exchange because the liquidity and trading choice is larger and you become complacent to the risk over time.

...................................................and then it's gone!

Have you no sense of history? Even the very short history of centralized crypto exchanges? No exchange overcomes the temptation to fractionally reserve in the long run as investors and shareholders clamor for more profits.

Just as no fiat currency has ever, in the long term, not been printed into oblivion by the lust for power in men's souls.

Now that's a statement I will put in CAPITAL in my notes. So decentralised is to only way to go from now to the future. I just started and started really small so I put no attention to it. But I can imagine that when you worked hard and it is gone at once you are really want to do something !!**&% thx for your fantastic upvote, I am flabbergasted. !! this will make me more enthousiastic. and also to make my once i a lifetime dream holiday with the kids.

wise words. i'm glad i read this before i actually made my first deposit on either of the centralized exchanges i created my accounts on. looking at my feed from the past couple of hours, i can see the amount of annoyance/problems caused from the steem/SBD disabling by poloniex. you might have actually saved me a bunch of trouble. thanks, and followed!

Yeeeeeeeeeeep . . .

We need to create a Mt. Gox holiday that reoccurs on a monthly basis, hell maybe even a weekly or daily basis so people don't forget the dangers of trusting centralized exchanges.

Besides all the problems with decentralized money on a centralized exchange, and yes history has shown there is a big risk, also you have to think about a potential evolution in those exchanges. I am having right now 2.5 btc on poloniex for lending purposes. I thought quite some time about the risk of those exchanges, and although its there i think they became much more mature, then they have been just 1 or 2 years ago. Poloniex was even hacked, once, about 10% of their btc was stolen, but poloniex managed to pay everything back. They dont want to be hacked, and they dont want to steal their own coins because its not easy to get away with that...They want to continue operation, why? Because: they have right now 400,000,000 $ volume (24h), which means they make in a single day about a million with order fees. Thats a profitable and scalable business, you dont want to lose. I can afford to lose all my btc without getting into financial problems, so i would advise anybody! Think of it like this: First Phase: nobody cares or sees a problem with cryptos on exchanges. Second Phase: People became aware, and many professionals in the scene are warning about it. But i think the risk is maybe lower then expected.

If they're making a million dollars a day, then why in the seven hells does it take them weeks to verify users and answer support tickets? Alarm bells are going off...

Not sure what do you want to tell me? I think you can use this exchanges, not all of them are bad. Of course, you shouldn´t let all the money on it. I´ve never had any issues with them so I can´t complain. It´s better to have a decentralised exchange that´s right but if they don´t have the coins you want to trade? I never used Poloniex, because of the bad news. I think if you're using it, it´s your own fault. Don´t get on a boat which is sinking....

He's trying to tell you that Fools, and their Money, eventually and inevitably go their own separate ways :-)

okay ^^

I agree, but believe me that world of crypto in the beginning is not easy. you fall and need to stand up again. learn from it. let your wounds heal and continue.. But I love the lessons here.. no trolls. I have seen honest comment. and thats whats matters

Amen... and I lost a small fortune in mtgox scam, @ckcryptoinvest all these exchanges one day will vanish ( due regulations, scams, hacks ). I am back to crypto after several years and right now everything look much better, but I will never trust any centralized exchange ever.

and from the latest news

The largest bitcoin and ether exchange in South Korea by volume, Bithumb, was recently hacked. Monetary losses from compromised accounts have started to surface, and are quickly reaching into the billions of won.

BitShares has more coins without liquidity than with, it's a bit of a chicken or the egg problem. The only way liquidity will increase is if people use it - so we have our work cut out for us.

Even OpenLedger IOUs are better than using a centralized exchange. The risk of a hack is much lower, because thanks to the DEX OpenLedger's attack surface is much smaller than a centralized exchange

Bittrex FTW! Use it as well.

I am still really new on the cryptocurrency train and even newer at trading of any sort but I already made a note for Bitshares. I am planning to invest some money soon and if @onceuponatime promotes it with such a passion we have to try it =D
Learning is good, and it seems that in here it's a good place to learn.
I can't get into the shoes of you people that you are currently losing money because of this situation but if I can say one thing is that everything happens for a reason, just be positive.

hmmm. i just registered accounts on bittrex and kraken. thanks for the heads-up with bitshares, i'll look into it!

better to skip kraken, imo. concubines of the state that take way to long to answer support requests.

I've used kraken for over 4 years and never had a problem with them of any significance, their fees are a little high, but what is the problem with them?

sper sa miarga bine

I have a problem with Kraken ( they charged me to much EOS on every deposit ) 4 days an no response from support

Release The KRAKEN!!

I have a slight problem with Kraken, they took far to many EOSES on every deposit. Reported a bug, but 4 days and no response yet

ok Bitshares DEX then..

I rarely upvote on comments, but yours, I did... Thanks for the useful info! :D

Too right. Fight the power!

You mentioned 2 things that really perked up my ears... Decentralized, and 3 seconds.... WOW! Just what I've been looking for. However I have to honest I just don't settle on one crypto on those exchanges (Polo and Bitricks) I hold a small portion of each. So when one is misbehaving I can pull the trigger on another. Up voting and resteeming this one. $PEACE:!

Please elaborate

When one really starts misbehaving, it may already be too late...

Apparently STEEM/SBD Deposits/Withdrawals are meant to resume on July 1st.
Good opportunity to transfer funds OUT of Poloniex into Bitshares DEX or at least Bittrex!

Better safe than sorry guys! No need to be stressing out due to some incompetent shady exchange!

thank you for sharing these info with us. i would try to move all my funds from coinbase bitshare thats fantastic thank you thank you thank you

Woah, thank you so much for the promotion, man! I jupped this @ $100 to help. Much appreciated, that was TOO kind of you! Followed back and will stay engaged with ya as well!

I used to say the same thing and then I got stupid and tried Poloniex. Now I'm paying for the consequences. NOW I have a lot of money that isn't showing up anywhere for 8 or 9 days now as well as a ton of crypto stake that cannot be moved whatsoever due to wallets being frozen (BitShares).

This is leaving one nasty taste in my mouth. They still haven't replied with one single word . . .

Fully agreed, DEX only from here on out . . . We need to make some kind of movement to get more people onboard. BTS needs to bust out some worker proposals STAT!!!

Again, thank you so much, you're too kind.

Promoted this article and Upvoted!

In January 2013, one could buy a Bitcoin for about $13. By late November, one Bitcoin would have set a buyer back over $1100.
And till date is even higher, thanks 🙏🏻

Thanks for this comment @onceuponatime! much needed information in the jungle of information about cryptos..will definitely have a look at bitshares! I'm in for the financial freedom and liberty! ;)

Where are Bitcoins and other coins you are trading held when you are trading on Bitshares DEX? Unless the coin is native to the platform, how are you not trusting a third party like you would on an exchange?

Yeeaah! I've been preaching the bitshares/openledger gospel on here for a while, it is the technology of the future. It has the potential to make conventional exchanges and banks obsolete. It's awesome! Upvoted and followed.

We write better posts, better updates, better guidelines for fhe community but never get the response or support because we are minnows.
https://steemit.com/poloniex/@ilyastarar/steemians-be-careful-these-poeple-are-complaining-of-losses-due-to-poloniex

I just hope. Thank you.

yeah...serve us now!!!

why don't you never use centralized exchanges..? any reason?

Have you actually read. this post and the comments? Or are you just trolling me.

The whole post is giving reasons to never use centralized exchanges

Yes I read a whole post and your comment...but I am new in crypto world and had left some of my coin in polo and bittrex. My question is, is there serious issue on the centralized exchange system and can't trust them?

Only the reason they never respond your ticket and slow than Bitshares DEX?

From my comment above ^^

"No (centralized) exchange overcomes the temptation to fractionally reserve in the long run as investors and shareholders clamor for more profits

Just as no fiat currency has ever, in the long term, not been printed into oblivion by the lust for power in men's souls."

Sometimes, it's really crazy.. at least read the post. Come with questions which really contribute to the blog and community. Ilike you very clear view on this. I agree upon, but even if you don't agree come with reasons why. When do we get the winner for the 3 musketiers plans in Greece?

That would be a question to ask on that post by me. It is irrelevant to the topic of this post by @matt-a. Please be courteous to the authors who o have put effort and time into presenting their information for all of our benefit.

You are right. I am sorry. Just started 14 days ago and learning each day. So not all etiquette are known. Thank you for pointing this out. Will not do it again.

Thanks for saying this so explicit. All the information one needs to know about current crypto exchanges.

Thanks for this never really knew about Decentral exchanges

I deposited yesterday morning more than 90K bts because at that time I thought only steem/sbd had problems (12 hours before they announced they will deactivate bts deposits/withdrawals !) They are not shown on the exchange yet "of course" ! Plus I wait now more then a month for a about $2K USDTs deposit (tether).... see the details here.... https://steemit.com/bitcoin/@liondani/red-flags-deposited-before-1-month-to-poloniex-usd2109-usdts-tether-and-still-not-there-had-you-similar-experience

Thank you for sharing this, liondani. Very good for the rest of us to know!

Indeed! Im sorry for you @liondani

Hope this settles down and we all can withdraw our funds.
I am pretty scared myself since I hold some BTS that were sitting in Poloniex (I know... silly)
So... lets just hope for the best!

why mostly everyone posts about steemit on this Social network, is it, more profitable? Im very new here :)

Awesome post @matt-a I love to vent online myself. Better to be a venter than a blower ;)

By the way, for anyone that wants to ask questions about Bitshares, just install Telegram then join us at http://t.me/bitsharesdex

Also, to get familiar with most of the features on the Bitshares platform, check out one of the 3rd party ui's like http://openledger.io

All of the products that I have built so far (like the android Smartcoins Wallet and BlockPay) all run on the decentralized Bitshares exchange as well.

Hope to see you there!
Peace, Love, and Agorism :)
UPVOTED AND RESTEEMED

Yeah I don't do much venting, but sometimes it is required! And in this case, it's certainly required. This is driving me crazy haha. So much crypto tied up for so long with absolutely no communication is one major slayer of the nerves!

Thanks for dropping those BTS links, people need to be more aware of its existence, especially of the community out there that's always down to help 24 hours a day. It's a beautiful thing.

And woah, YOU built BlockPay!? I like you!!! And so does all of my friends haha.

Sorry, but I'm a little confused.. is open ledger the same or different than the bitshares exchange? I see on the bitshares exchange some cryptos say "Backed by open ledger". I currently use Bittrex for my coins, but I'm wondering if there's a better exchange I should be at that's more secure or won't totally screw me like all the people having problems with poloniex right now!

Well, you can't beat the Bitshares exchange as far as speed, scalability, provable reserve capital and collateral requirements, and of course its decentralization.

Keep in mind, that the User Issues Assets (UIA's) that you see listed on the exchange are tokens created by third parties, so some discretion will need to be used when choosing which of those issuers' tokens you want to invest in or even trade.

Smartcoins however, are market-pegged assets (mpa's) and are owned and controlled by the Bitshares platform/exchange itself, so you don't have to worry about some scammer CFO stealing your money or something. Smartcoins are also nice because they can be used as stable investment instruments for holding wealth (like bitSilver for example), buying stuff at BlockPay merchants, etc.

Hope that helps a bit @michellerhey :)

I've got 500 SBD that I sent to Polo last week from winning the SteemFest tickets etc. It never showed up in my Polo wallet, you can see the transfer there was done, that is my SteemFest money.

I cannot get ahold of them and they are not helping anyone anyways, from all of what I see.

I backed away from using them the last 90 days, moved everything off there essentially I had, but for this one instance pretty much.

My BTS is locked up there now too so I will now have to sell that nestegg -- for BTC in order to get my money out..... and lose more money on the transfer w the high BTC fees.

Big winner here???

FG POLONIEX.

That 500 SBD of mine too, they are sitting on not showing the deposit means I am losing the gains on that coin or trade I could have had put to use during this bloodbath and could have found value and sale prices last weekend!!

Gave this a fat upvote. This is absolutely unacceptable, I hate to hear that, Barry. What can we do!? We're sitting ducks, ugh . . .

My BTS is also locked up there, I want it OFF. Like . . . last week . . .

Holy cow, 2 whale votes on that comment are almost more than my posts are making lately again LOL.

Thanks Matt and @liondani

IDK what to do, I am an activist as you know, so apart from organizing something meaningful, like a lobbying effort or en masse calling out Polo on every form of social media and blasting them 30x/ day, I am not sure.

I was VERY active (understatement) trying to win the bobby Lee twitter challenge to get Steem listed and we did not get the traction we honestly should have, with all the crypto people, bots, tech people etc so I am not sure.

Even with all that skin in the game, we still did not pull that off and we should have blown everyone out of the water.

We had nearly 1500 ACTIVE people every day on here then, and still, that topic was not the tops of trending pages until the last couple days.

If we had the whales more involved on some things, with an active currency, backed by an active community, IMHO, nothing could stop this platform.

That type of lobbying effort is what is needed, but will likely still not happen.

You are one of the most active people and whales, and you are engaged and seem nice, as well as being determined to DO stuff.

Not everyone is like The Matt.

I forgot to actually say thanks for your vote(s) in that reply that was long winded LOL.

Long day for me, just got back in, simple tasks take a lot out of me now man.

Buy bitshares. Hold bitshares. Use bitshares.

^^^^^^^^^^ Ultimate sage wisdom.

If more people started using BTS / OpenLedger, many of the complaints people have about it would go away. (lack of liquidity on certain trading pairs, etc...)

Yep, exactly.

I am withdrawing to max amount every day without issues, withdrawals are fast (as in seconds to minutes). They just re-enabled STEEM withdrawals too - check my wallet history, the deposit hit within 30 seconds of confirming via email. No complaints so far.

Just like MtGox enabled withdrawals everyn once in a while to get more suckers to deposit. When are people going to cotton to the long con?

This is really scary! I had over 1k BTS in Poloniex and now i´m considering it as a loss :(
Hopefully I will be able to get those back. I know its not a lot but for a small investor like me, its something.

This is so frustrating!!

I learned this the hard way by keeping my coins on Cryptsy. # 1 rule is to keep your coins off the exchanges. They are huge targets.

lots of ponzi schemes out there. I am Thinking that Bit connect is another sham site. We shall see.

EXACTLY THIS.

Also, I'm going to make sure you get that promotion cost back. Gonna follow you around this thread a bit. Keep fighting the good fight! I'm with ya.

They just re-enabled, I saw that. I immediately dropped more SBD in there despite my initial deposit STILL not being there. My new deposit isn't there and it has been around 30 minutes now. Bad taste in mouth remains.

yup, seems re-enabled. my steem deposit is still not visible however, since 9 days. lost already $500

Same, i'm done with Poloniex. I consider the money gone, because they're not reacting to support tickets within a fucking month.

We need a goddamn decentralized exchange that everyone uses so there are very small spreads. Right now Bitshares has so little liquidity unfortunately.

Same . . . getting pretty uneasy about this. Can't garner a response from their support either, on 8 days now . . .

same, 9 days no answer from support.

I moved to bittrex, fast, no issues. fees are a bit bigger, but at least they did not cause losses for me so far

Glad you escaped!

I'm looking to migrate to Bittrex as well, but I'm going to definitely have to tread more cautiously. This centralized exchange business is getting to be a bit much . . . again.

trex is good ! but keep that in mind , a friend of mine account hacked (he didn't use 2FA - i know he was stupid about that) his psw was unique , hacker logged, dumped all his coins then spiked ETH/GUP left him with 20 GUP, 10btc loss, trex didnt do shit about it, block the account of the hacker etc instead they asked for lawsuit /fbi action, which is going to take ages !

agree, bts is not ready for this yet. great for hedging with bitusd/cny though!

this kind of behaviour reminds me Cryptsy ! wallets disabled for no reason, low level support and its gone !

Yeah, having an assload of crypto stuck in limbo with no communication is not a good feeling.

Funny thing is they are making a shitload of money, from fee and infrastructure is like they are working for free.. ! And now moving troll box mods to support, i bet is where the drama will be start !

Yeah I know, it's so stupid. That's my major qualm. They are ROLLING in money, yet wont reinvest in their support and infrastructure to avoid awful situations like this. It's absolutely insane . . .

Poloniex is acting so much strange, couple of years ago they where adding any kind of shit coin, was like yobit now days, back in 2014 they got hack and lost 12% of BTC exchange was holding , they refund it, and after that they picking coin listing with their own , unknown criteria ! Having the attitude of a super vip service and with quality of an average service ! lol

Why would you give them more money if you already have a deposit stuck in limbo?

Just like Mt. Gox would enable withdrawals temporarily to re-build confidence and bring in more deposits/depositors. When are people going to cotton to the long con? And take in to account the inherent dangers of centralized exchanges and the long term value of EVERY fiat currency (zero)?

Still nothing on my end :-/. Getting suuuuper frustrated . . .

ANOTHER UPDATE: Still nothing in or out of my account and STILL no reply from Poloniex . . . This is way too fishy.

Bittrex has not failed a single Eth or Steem withdrawal while Poloniex struggles. This reminds me of other "exchanges" that had liquidity problems just before people were cut off from withdrawing anything at all. G O X ring a bell?

I had noticed these problems myself. I've never seen this happen before, and clearly Steem / SBD / BTS are working fine on other exchanges, so it makes me wonder if this is some political tit-for-tat going on. Maybe Dan pissed them off by not agreeing to give them an insider advantage with EOS or something...

Anyway, even though Polo is my favorite exchange, it's enough to make me nervous too. I have a few Bitcoin left on there, but I'll be moving them off by the weekend and probably going to make Bittrex my main exchange for now. At least until Polo gets their act together.

This is quite the theory, but I don't put it past Poloniex at this point. Very glad I ditched them and moved to OpenLedger full time.

I'm doing exactly what you described . . . can't deal with this risk anymore. It is not cool . . .

OpenLedger is great, I just wish it had more liquidity. Makes it hard to get into & out of positions unless it's one of the top cryptos. But I suppose if the centralized exchanges keep having trouble, OpenLedger will gradually get more business so that's the silver lining here!

The conspiracy theory section of my brain has been thinking the same thing . . .

It's specific currencies that are having issues, and they just so happen to be all graphene-based. Which doesn't make sense, this shit works like clockwork and as you said, no one else is having any issues.

I hope they get whatever issues resolved so we can either continue using them or simply move our funds. Sadly, I have a bit more than a few BTC on there, and I want it off . . . like LAST week . . . This is making me nervous.

Haha, just needed to vent, that's all I really CAN do at this point.

I wonder if there is anything wr can do to encourage people to transfer their funds to openledger and deprive polo of bts/bitassets

That's the goal. Gonna be hard to accomplish that before more dev work is done though. All in due time!

Indeed, if I was a conspiracy theorist I'd be having a field day. Have you had any problems with BTC withdrawals? Last one I did was a few days ago and it went OK. But I haven't tried a really large withdrawal for a while.

I had some SBD that I was planning on moving over to Steemit, but since I couldn't withdraw I decided to take advantage of the big SBD price spike last night and just sold it all back into BTC.

Haven't had any issues with taking BTC out, but I've only done that a couple times, I've mainly used the platform to drop BTC in and take BTS, Steem, and some others OUT.

Yeah the price spike is huge on Poloniex, but it's unusable haha, you can't deposit or withdrawal. I think that it generated some fake scarcity.

Yeah the price spike is huge on Poloniex, but it's unusable haha, you can't deposit or withdrawal.

Which is probably the reason for the erratic price action, speculators gone wild. I first saw it on coinmarketcap and thought "holy crap I need to sell some SBD". But then I went to the Steemit internal market and was like "hmm, no exciting prices here." I think Polo single handedly skewed coinmarketcap's average.

The problem is,

No matter what happening

Polo should reply our ticket

very dissapointed on it

Agreed, there's absolutely no excuse for that poor level of service. They even say on their site that they disabled the trollbox so that moderators could concentrate on handling support. So where exactly is the increased level of support?

Not at all, your anger is completely justified! It's absolutely ridiculous how shitty their customer service is. If we want crypto to succeed and be adopted by the masses we have to realize that we are all in it together (to a point). Each time one of the large exchanges (coinbase, poloniex) has downtime, or locks up withdrawals, or does not even respond to your dam email (your definitely not the first person I have heard this from), they scare the shit out of the guy who was thinking about investing in crypto. If you are worried the asset you purchased can not be sold when you want it to, Hi or Lo, due to the dam exchange not working! I mean come on. Let's get it together here people!

Yeah, if they fall, I'm sure it will be ALL over the news and that will be all that everyone knows, completely tarnishing the crypto-space's name . . .

We don't need that at this point, it has all come way too far . . .

It would be different if they addressed the public, but instead they just remain completely silent. It's total bullshit . . .

Yeah, I do not understand that at all. Why would you not address these issues? At least a dam email!

I think it is about the time for another Mt. Gox. Steem On ! Steem Nation!

I also got same experience, almost a month, no reply(response) from poloniex after I create a ticket and numberous reminder.

Their service is suck

I change platform to BITTREX

By the way, any safe and reliable wallet recommend?

Damn, no replies after a month!? That is worrisome . . . Goodluck, buddy. I hope everything gets resolved for us all, this sucks . . .

Thanks for whishing

I think the moral of this story is, don't trust any online exchange. Keep your currency in your own wallet and only transfer it to an exchange for the briefest possible time while you are actually doing an exchange.

That's exactly what I was doing, but you're limited to $7k a day without filling out a ton more paperwork. I'm around 2nd tier verified at the moment.

This is a prime example as to why you should use BitShares! DEX 4-lyfe.

Hopefully soon, in the future, BitShares/OpenLedger sees a lot more volume so that they will be more viable to the end user. Then we will are be safe and sitting pretty.

Of course what we really need is more establishments accepting more cryptocurrencies as payment. Sooner or later this will happen...probably.

No probably to it! Just a matter of time and some leg work.

Yes the paradox of the cryptoworld that pretty much all exchanges, the central point of this - is centralized! da fck?! With you on this 100%, hope they get what is coming to them, I think that mostly all these "technical difficulties" and "hacker attacks" are just bullshit and inside jobs, it's such easy money for them.

That is why I support projects like Waves and Lykke, I've heard about Bitshares, but have no experience so far. I must check it out, thanx!

Here is an article about Lykke, that I've writen recently https://steemit.com/cryptocurrency/@ultramarine/lykke-semi-decentralized-exchange-with-0-fees . Is there some good article about Bitshares anyone could recommend?

Same same happened to me. Transferred some Steem to Polo yesterday not having any idea about their issues. I was on vacation. Should have read the news before using my accounts again...:-(
Thanks for spreading the word! Resteemed and shared on Twitter

But Poloniex is one of the largest holders of STEEM. Why would they damage their own holdings? Or maybe they don't want any more. Or maybe they are really incompetent. I think there is more going on.

Yeah they have an absolutely massive amount of Steem. It's rather insane how much they hold. Who knows what's up behind the curtains? We certainly don't, due to them not communicating whatsoever with their userbase.

One week for a support ticket with them is nothing. I have been waiting for 5 weeks without a peep from them. They are really a horrible company. I have mostly stopped using them...

Woah, really over 5 weeks? Yeah. I'm pulling outta there at the earliest moment. I'm done.

Hi @matt-a, have you taken a look at bitsquare, AKA Bisq? I downloaded and built their app, but haven't gotten around to trading with it. It seems to be spartan with the numbers of bids/asks available but that may just be my perception due to inexperience. Still I would like to hear your opinion if you have one.

Woah, no I hadn't read about this yet. Definitely intriguing, I'm going to play with it and get back to you about it. Thanks for bringing this to my attention!

wow is there no regulatory body that they are answerable to, bcos if not then that is bad

I have had the same issue for 18 days now... they have finally written this about the Steem and SBD I sent just prior to their unannounced shutdown of both:

Kindly check the deposit/withdrawal history of the wallet they were transferred from for the details of the transaction ids.

Now where the hell do I find those?

hey Matt - resteemed, and added a reference to this to my last post. btw, saw what you wrote in discord, sorry to hear that man - my father's been through it. I know how excruciatingly painful it can be. And on top of it you have to worry about F'ing PoloPonzEx too. Really sucks... hope it passes quickly, and you feel better soon. :(

Awesome, thanks a lot, Alex! Much appreciated.

Yeah, pissing out spiky rock crystals is, well, not exactly a fun or enjoyable endeavor! That's to say the very least haha. Thanks for the well wishes, man!!!

btw, just saw this come up.. not for BTS, but maybe now's your chance to get some out... https://steemit.com/steem/@mrosenquist/poloniex-just-unlocked-steem-and-sbd

Saw it come back online a few hours ago, immediately tried to deposit AND withdraw, no dice on either. Ultra pissed.

Basically, use ANYTHING but POLO. Bittrex isn't the best but I have had zero transaction problems ever. Bitshares has been good to me too.

Poloniex has had a freeze on SBD and Steem since before HF19. And they never make it obvious, so I transferred in, bought Steem, went to transfer out and couldn't. I had to buy Btc and withdraw that as I wont leave funds on an exchange after losing at Gox. I wont be using them again.

I have started to use openledger and I am very happy with it,
It is never safe for your cyptocurrencies to be in an exchange for a long because you don't hold ownership in your cryptos, and for God knows whatever might happen!!

Yep, centralized exchanges are inherently dangerous. You have to trust some other human beings to do you right.

Unfortunately, you have to verify your identity with FACEBOOK. Sounds ULTRA sketchy. I'd rather not have the Lumens.

Been using @Bittrex now for the past week. It makes me sad I had seen so many posts pop up during the week not knowing funds were already locked, mine still as well, open ticket, no response. I am not thinking the complete worse, because it only seems to be a few coins having issues, but it is enough where I can not in good faith use the site no matter how clean the design and how fast it had been and the great volume, I really liked Poloniex and just wish these situations had been handled better with some kind of information for the users.

Very same exact sentiment. I loved Poloniex, they worked great when they worked. But this past bit has left me super annoyed. I've lost a hell of a lot of money having funds mysteriously tied up there with no update and no response to tickets on any level. Bums me out. I just hope they hurry and get their affairs in order . . .

This is simply a light-heated venting post haha.

I actually did get a "response" about a week ago. I have 40 SBD floating in limbo that was deposited, but never cleared. They said it was a temporary problem, and that my deposit would be credited when the problem was fixed...

I have the transaction ID, and after a week, I just want to cancel my deposit. Now they won't respond. There has to be something people can band together and do. If money doesn't show back up and something bad happens, is there legal recourse? Who runs @poloniex?

I have some deposited SBD in limbo as well, around the same timeframe as you. I'm surprised that you got a response, I've never been able to pry one out of them.

Sadly, they're probably on the same level of playing field as Mt. Gox. Meaning if they wanted to close up and disappear, they could probably get away with it. That's the danger of a centralized exchange. BitShares for life! We all need to spread the word on it, buy up an assload of BTS, and start using the platform. If more people flocked to it, it would certainly get developed more as well as the blockchain can naturally fund the development work with worker proposals.

I only really used poloniex to sell SBD and load my debit card with bitcoin. Now that I've discovered @blocktrades, i can sbd to them and they just send btc directly to my card. I'm not so sure I'll be using sites like poloniex anymore

I'd watch out for that. The rates on Blocktrades are HORRENDOUS. Use changelly for nearly double what you get on Blocktrades.

Heard. I'll look into that

I'm pretty sure I just lost 26SBD because of changelly...............

Tried to send a load to my debit card. Changelly took too long, and now Bitpay has canceled my invoice! I severely hope my coins don't get lost, because I REALLY need this money I just sent

That issue falls on Bitpay, you're better off transferring to your own wallet for stuff like that if you're working with a timed deposit. Changelly exchanges as fast as people buy on their respective exchange, nothing due to the tech behind Changelly.

Yeah, definitely learned that one the hard way. I'll just start transferring it to the internal wallet on bitpay, then port it from there instead of trying to 'Add Funds'

Now I've got an email saying my invoice was underpaid. I guess changelly didn't tell me about all their fees, because it ended up showing up almost 2000 satoshi short, so now I have to route it BACK to a btc address, then try to route it to my card again, so more fees. I'll just stick with blocktrades, at least they send it fast enough and I know exactly how much is going to my card.

Changelly, just like Blocktrades and shapeshift, are approximate, they buy up the current best deals on exchanges. You'll actually usually end up with MORE than you're quoted on Changelly. That's my experience anyways. Their commission is 0.5%. If you look, it's "estimated." Since they can't control the rate at which people buy, they can't give you a set in stone answer. They simply buy what is the best deal in your favor. Markets are volatile, especially right now. Guaranteed you got a hell of a lot better deal than Blocktrade's current $0.94 per SBD. Changelly just got me aroun $1.65 per 1 SBD last night on an order of like 1250 SBD and that's AFTER fees. I was quote ~0.73 BTC and wound up getting ~0.88 BTC.

1 to 2 business days before it will get refunded. Fuck me.

Any chance you've got 26 SBD I can borrow til it gets back to me?

They responded to you? Well you are super lucky just for that!

I think he was talking about BitPay, they actually have their act together pretty well in my experience. A pretty professional bunch.

:D

Thanks, baby girl!

:D you are welcome, we are all in the same boat

They don't communicate at all.

That's the thing that is bothering me the most. No response on any level to tickets after over a week now. They've never replied to me before. It's making me very uncomfortable.

This is big problem ... but they have the most accounts of any other exchange and minimal verification. I think that they still have not realize that their business is now on another level .

True, true. I think that they know their business is booming, when you see those dollars sign get that huge, you gotta know. They need to quit being greedy and funnel some of it back into their infrastructure and support system so that these things do not happen or are minimized.

i understand how you feel, its really frustrating, the least the could do is reply to your messages.

Yup, for real. That's the thing that's making me most nervous. No updates on the locked down currencies, no reasons as to why, etc. And . . . NO replies to support tickets after over a week . . . They're millionaires/billionaires, they can afford some help to address their customers . . .

I love Poloniex, but they're starting to worry me quite a bit. I just had to vent haha.

GREAT IDEA!!!

</sarcasm>

Coinbase is owned by GDAX, which would be a cheaper choice, but require more industry knowledge.

STEEM/SBD are active on POLONIEX now!

That's what it says, but they aren't. Nothing will move in or out of my account . . .

I did get my ETH..... only took 4 days

Awww, just 4 days? Such a speedy service! But I think that may be more at fault of the ETH network as of late.

I did realize that...Was taking longer than the network was backed up....For some reason, my account runs smooth and I don't have complaints about polo as much as others do on steemit, And I've been able to expand my port safely with that sweet BTC lending

Poloniex make me very angry 😠
I hope all of you will get their withdraws.
Best regards

Yep. Shure.

Try moving some SBD . . . It doesn't work.

Ok. Did you try withdraw other alts?

Poloniex is by far the shitiest exchange i have ever come across in terms of their customer service. I have had my LTC locked (awaiting approval) status for almost over 3 weeks now for no obvious reason.

upvoted and followed you.

Finally a post that makes sense! It really basic math here folks ;)

decentralized currency + centralized exchange = centralized currency

decentralized currency + decentralized exchange = decentralized currency

Excellent post -- I'm going to follow you --

This makes me nervous. as a newbie in crypto currencies i used poloniex as my trading company. Now i am wondering if im gonna withdraw my funds once i earned. I am also planning to invest a little peso here.. Asides from poloniex what are the best alternative trading tool.

@emcel Take a look at Bittrex, as well as become familiar with decentralized exchanges. If you're using an Android based device consider getting Coinomi and become your on exchange.

Poloniex is such a scary place.. 😢

Si tengo cuenta en POLONIEX y hago trading todos los dias.

Wow I really though they were going to clean up their act. My Steem was "locked up" for over 2 weeks. How are we the clients supposed to hold our trust and valued assets in a vehicle that does not work, but traps whatever is inside like a prison? I foresee terrible problems for Poloniex in the near future.

thanks for your poste upvoted and restemmed it :)

Yeah poloniex is a ripoff, I am from the Philippines and it is very hard for me to be at least get noticed by the customer service for transfering my 0.01 btc to them because hurtfully its shitty to them yeah but to me its a lot here in my country with the exchange rate.

I am so furious because the main problem is not the crypto currencies but these brokers that are just demolishing the marketing power of crypto.

Can anyone say the same??? Just want to rant my guts out.

I started using poloniex but... had to many problems! i moved to bitrexx & im very pleased! Im diging bitshares from all these comments.!

Show me some valuable feature or benefit there

I am just surprised how everyone saying they provide the shittest service in the world yet still holding the number one trading market Lol

Very cool post, I can learn a lot of new things from you :D
