RE: Sunday Funday: November 9th, 2025

First order of business, everyone vote on return proposal and ask GP and crimsonclad please not to drill water wells in Ghana and don’t fund gyms in Venezuela

Sort:

What about drilling for geothermic energy and funding bakeries in Ecuador? A few solar panels to load a battery that runs a spotlight putting the HIVE logo into the sky each night? I'd have some more ideas...

Do people have discretionary spending power in Ecuador ?

This is where I struggle with the concept. I am sure 100s if not thousands of people know about hive in Nigeria. Did we gain any net positive from there? No. It’s just a drain.

Do people have discretionary spending power in Ecuador ?

Maybe not, but Value Plan has indiscriminate spending.

It's divided in Ecuador, but since we use the USD here, there is usually not much need to extract value. The workshop I did on Friday was with two expats who were looking for a platform to share and discuss their pictures & videos. When I told them about HP, Hive and HBD they looked at me confused and not interested at all. They wanted the platform.

In the evening, I installed snapie on two phones of two Ecuadorian girls, teaching quickly how to use it. They are interested in the content creation and making a little extra, but I told them that it's really hard to make a meaningful amount, compared with what they generally earn. I think it's more the fun part for them, being able to make some coins which they can then trade for bread, burritos or pizza.

Influx on the other hand is not that likely, either. Having people invest instead of just earn. I'm pretty sure that most will have a KE of 2, since I won't tell them how to power down or that it's an option 😜 They can figure that out by themselves, I'm sure.

But for now, it's growing the user base. With that comes hopefully attention. And with that some investors.

I think it's more the fun part for them, being able to make some coins which they can then trade for bread, burritos or pizza.

It should be fun, right? Fun comes in many forms though!

Of course it should be! And yes, different people define "fun" in different ways.

Already voted for the return proposal. While I agree with you on not spending the marketing budget in locations that lack discretionary spending power, we still need to promote Hive somehow. As you can't save your way to the top of crypto coin rankings.

Where would you suggest DHF funds should be spent instead?

As you can't save your way to the top of crypto coin rankings.

So you need people who are willing to spend

Which means spending marketing budget where the money is... Like in mainstream crypto areas of ETH, SOL and BASE? Or in countries where incomes are the highest and crypto adoption is high?

Or in countries where incomes are the highest and crypto adoption is high?

More useful I think. Some people could convert a tiny slice of their BTC and be Hive whales instantly. Bring their various followers with them and there will be a decentralised space with a lot of functionality that could support all kinds of crypto projects and enthusiasts, while steering clear of all the centralised platform assholes. The goal of all of crypto people, should be to replace centralisation at all levels.

People need to realize you can vote on the return proposal and support other proposals at the same time. I feel like a lot of people think the two are mutually exclusive.

Really? I thought people knew. But that might be a good point.

I feel like they don't otherwise we would see a lot more votes on the return proposal.

Perhaps everything but stabilizer should be unfunded :D

I don't know about that. I think there are things out there that bring value to the chain and they deserved to be funded. They should probably have a bit more oversight though.

Yes, I agree with you. There are some things that do bring value, or could bring value - but a lot of what has been funded in the past is quite limited.

I definitely agree with you as well. Part of me feels like they should have just burned the whole ninja mine when we forked.

I'm game for that. I think valueplan is done. And I don't think retrospectively we can say it has done any good!!

And yet, valueplan is funded.

When Blocktrades was asked about it at hive fest, his answer was, people asks him to vote on value plan and he does! :)

Christ on a bike. I wonder if people asked him not to vote on it would he not... Worth a try!

Oh, that is crazy.

I wish I knew that before... I'm sure that a Hive-Sponsored helicopter would've generated a lot of local income during the strikes, transporting people back and forth over the barricades. Payable only in HBD.

Oh, one of my ovens is constantly breaking, I could make Hive-Bread with a Hive-Oven. Probably even able to have Hive-Shaped-Pans made, and teach the boys how to do the cuts right. Pay with HBD? Get a discount!

If I had just asked them...

I wonder how low can you go? Attacking @blocktrades, @crimsonclad, and @guiltyparties with such statements is even low for you. You've never been to a Hive Fest, and put words in the mouth of people who are basically building, promoting and thriving the chain. Without them, this chain would not exist. It would still run, without both of us. So please, get off your high entitled horse, and act humble.

I had the chance to meet the first two, and they breathe for the chain, where you, where ever you appear, the situation and atmosphere turns to shit. Like mentioned, go review inside of you, your actions, way of acting to others and try to see that you do a lot of damage in here, by launching such false accusations. @blocktrades, is smarter than the both of us combined, and would definitely not approve anything just by being asked. Just putting this statement, shows that you either don't get it, or have again some manipulative plan to destroy something.

I don't think it has done much. Though it has made a couple people pretty wealthy perhaps.
