I needed to be running out to find some sunshine today. One moment it is there and the next, it is gone. Somehow it got lost in the shuffle last night, most likely when I wasn't paying attention. Behold, here it comes. Step into the sunshine of life, wherever you may be, whatever you are doing. Spring is in the air, for days now and it is a celebration of the senses. How can we deny this truth?
I stepped into the day for my #WednesdayWalk with @tattoodjay, even though I am posting it so late in the day. This particular challenge is a great way to get out and shoot some photos, focus your thoughts, and see what you can see, giving in to a short distance to take a walk. Don't forget to look up and down, and all around. You never know what you might be missing!
It is no big secret that I love flowers and one of my favorite places is Merryfield Garden Center. Wait, let's stop and smell the flowers. Take your time through life, and enjoy those moments...Anyway, Merryfield...They have three stores in the Washington, DC Metro area, and I chose the one located at 8132 Lee Hwy, Falls Church, Virginia, just outside of Washington, DC. They have an antique truck that they are always doing fun things with. Today, they loaded it up and decorated it for spring. Hello? Are you still walking or are you still looking at that truck?
This is the sign they take along when they do a show somewhere or perhaps have a booth in one of the farmer's markets. Many of the workers there are related to the owner, then many others have worked there forever and a day. Does anyone really know how long that is?
The sell plants, trees, cut flowers are something they have now and again... I want to look at them, the freshness of Spring tempting the air. So many coming today. They must know it is a day made for walking. Plus, it is Spring!
I go through the hothouse and look at these beautiful begonias, double begonias, actually. I won't be able to put these in today, but, perhaps I can in a few weeks. Today is simply beautiful and my little piece of the world is a happy place to be. Pour on the sunshine. Be the reason that someone smiles today.
The place is large and filled with the newness that Spring brings. It was a great time to take a #WedensdaayWalk and get a look at what will be needed to add to my garden this year. I am sure I will bring you back here again and again. What?? Did I hear you say you are tired of flowers? Don't you know it is #alwaysaflower with me?
All of their locations are dog friendly, making the walk even more fun. Thank you so much for coming along with me. We walked long enough to clock in 3.7 miles. That is 6km for you people on the other side of the big pond.

It was a delightfully beautiful day yesterday, only to wake up to a misty morning here. It is supposed to clear by noon and the sun will pop out (so they say!) and warm up to 79 degrees. I actually don't need it that warm at this time of year, as it only gets hotter as it gets closer to the summer solstice, as those hotter temperatures are a happening thing when we are further from the sun.
I love that truck! I would give my eyeteeth to own one. Well, perhaps not my eyeteeth, but, I have truck envy, every time I darken those doors.
The hothouse flowers are only in the hothouse, it is not warm enough quite yet, so a few of the summery flowers look a bit like we are more southern living. It is another whole world in there and they have beds planted so you swear you are outside!
It is fun in the winter to walk through there when you are missing summer. :)

Spring is in the air! Spring is everywhere! It will be 80 degrees tomorrow and I am enjoying it. We had cool weather for about a week and it surprised Mother Nature as the trees were in bloom.

Lovely flowers to cheer people up! Those daffodils are very deep yellow and big! Haven’t seen daffodils for ages! Some places in the north could grow tulips but daffodils are more friendly looking than stiff tulips!🙀😂

Thank you! Actually, the daffodils are sturdier than the tulips! They are prolific and usually double their bulbs in a few years, making your garden bigger, or more abundantly populated with daffodils!

Aren't they the best?? It is always a struggle to keep my wants separated from my needs when I am there! I no longer have much room to put more perennials, but, I do stick in some annuals here and there. I have to go to the Shore House where there are acres to plant. Little by little and let it spread naturally.

Yes, it changes it up a bit and the prices are indeed right to do so.
Sadly I don’t have time to relax from now onwards.
I only have a few days this week to pack, Saturday we drive (12 hours down) to the in-laws to tile the living room over 2 full weeks. When I come back 16 April, the last bits needs to be packed and wrapped for the move in 1,5 week. Wrong timing but all will be fine. I always manage… somehow.
Time does go fast lately hahaha. I will rest a bit soon 😉😎 maybe a holiday is needed.

This too shall pass. :) My son and I tiled my parent's kitchen and dining area over a weekend because that is all the time I had off and I drove 900 miles... so, I hear you. As an aside, My son and I watched someone tile our other house and now we felt expert! LOL It really came out good though!!

You know than exactly. Let’s see if it all works out. Apparently these tiles are hand made unsealed terracotta tiles in hexagon shape. So all are different sizes and thickness what adds to the work time.

That is a pretty cool truck. Looks like Spring is in full force there. We are still slowly easing into it! I think they are calling for some more snow this weekend. No sign of the daffodils in the woods yet either.
Isn't that truck cool??? I love it and they use it in displays and it actually drives. :) I know, it is a truck!
To be honest, much of what you see that isn't cherry trees or daffodils/tulips are planted in their hothouse or indoors, so it kind of gives it a false sense of our weather. It will be 79 today, but, that is the first warm temps in a week, we had a cold spell, so all those summery-looking flowers are only at the nursery. We still have everything popping, but, not quite as full of flowers as this looks.
One of the good reasons to take a walk at the nursery!
I feel like our warm temps will be moving northward, coaxing those daffodils into submission. Wait!!! Snow this weekend? No way! We are having rain this morning, perhaps it is moving up north.

We have been having temps in the 50's, but then the wind brings them back down to the 30's range. We started with rain this morning, but now I am seeing he sun shine through my office window. We have a store down the road from where I live that uses an old truck to display stuff. It isn't in as good of condition as that one and they keep it outside, but in the late spring they load it with corn and in the fall they put pumpkins on it.
I love when they use old equipment and tools for displays. It is less common today, I think, than it was a few years back. I have to say, probably since Covid. It is almost like they expect it to happen again, and have life, as we know it, come to a complete stop.
I think (or hope) that we have learned a few lessons during that time.
The farmers' markets (around here) load their old trucks with corn and pumpkins too!! It is such a wonderful time of year! Bring it on!

It is actually a nursery. We have quite a few of them. I have noticed that they have exploded with what they offer. Landscaping, trees, fruit and vegetables, fish ponds (and fish) lawn services... This isn't my parent's flower shop anymore.
Because the space is so big, I sometimes use it for my #WednesdayWalk as it has ever-changing scenery.
