Tips for Newbies @Steemit !! My Experience So Far !!

Hello Steemians

This is an article for fellow minnows who have recently joined Steemit. I am also a minnow like you and I joined this amazing community on 16th August 2018 with a reputation point of 25 but within 20 days, my reputation increased to 51!! So, it is safe to say that I am having an amazing journey at Steemit by learning what not to do here.

Initially, I thought it was all about getting upvotes and comments to increase reputation points no matter how the content was. I have listed down few of my mistakes which I think can help you before you start your journey.

Mistakes normally Newbies make

• Mistake no 1: I was upvoting whatever content I came across. I upvoted 30-40 posts a day.

• Mistake no 2: I upvoted posts which were flagged by @cheetah bot & @steamcleaners

• Mistake no 3: I posted comments like "good post", "great post", "nice article" without actually reading the article, hoping to get an upvote in return.

• Mistake no 4: I joined some telegram groups where I got involved in "VOTE FOR VOTE" schemes thrown at me by fellow minnows, who wanted me to upvote their plagiarized contents, "wish me happy birthday" posts and some really stupid posts which cannot be described in words.

While I was learning what I was doing wrong, I saw a few minnows in the telegram group, committing major mistakes such as

• Mistake no 5: Their tags were different from their content like for example if they were posting a poem, they were tagging it in bitcoin & cryptocurrency tab.

• Mistake no 6: creating an original content takes time and a lot of research. I had seen fellow minnows in the telegram group posting 4-5 articles every day without proper content.

• Mistake no 7: The newcomers were also making mistakes by not crediting the original author for their content or the photo.

So, how do you approach Steemit?

• First of all, you should write a very good introduction about yourself. Your introduction post should be brief and it should include what you do, what your hobbies are and what you are going to write mostly about in steemit. In the first tag, you should use introduceyourself tag

• Before upvoting any content first, check out the comments section below. If you find a message by @Cheetah bot, ignore that post.

• Before upvoting any post, please make sure that you read the post first. The author might have put in a lot of effort to create that content for you. And when you comment on that post make sure you are sharing your opinion in detail. Commenting "good post", "great post", "nice post" will never lead you anywhere. Do not write the same comment on different articles as it will be considered as spam. Commenting on someone's post is an opportunity to interact with the community members. Don't waste this opportunity. Here is an example how successful Steemians interact with you. I have picked up a comment from @stellabelle . Who-so-ever is reading this post, please follow her immediately!! you can learn a lot from her amazing posts !! :-)
  

• Write your own content. Take time, research subjects and post those articles which can add value to the community. Never copy-paste someone else's article from the internet. You will be flagged by @cheetah bot and your reputation will go down.

• It is not necessary to post 3-4 articles every day. You can invest your time in creating good content and post it every 2 to 3 days. Your reputation depends on your good content and not how frequently you post.

• Upvote only 10 posts per day. If you are upvoting more than 10, it will put pressure on Steemit blockchain. Also make sure that posts you are upvoting are not older than 7 days.

Some more tips - How you should monitor your account?

1. Download Particko app for your mobile and follow @partiko on steemit. This is great way to post comments and articles while you are on the move. You will accumulate points as well. download here

   This is a website which will show you the awards and points that you have unlocked by writing posts. This is the best way to monitor your account and upgrade it by completing the tasks. You can monitor your points mentioned below that red fish..

   This is another website for you. You can track all your activities here. You can also check the current price of Steam & SBD here.. In this picture you can see my reputation is 49.832377
   
   After 20 minutes of posting this article, my reputation is at 50.435462

   This is one of my favourite websites. You can check your payment breakdown along with the % of voting power people are using to upvote your post
   
   

Tips for investing in Steemit

Thank you for the article. I just uploaded my second post, a very long time after the first time and almost instantly I gained 90 new followers. So am going through them, to see who they are, and most of them are users following over 100000 people (accounts or whatever). In one instance, i encountered someone following over 600000 accounts (and I did not make a typo here with too many zeroes at the end). That's insane and also unsustainable. I highly doubt that this kind of interaction can bring much success here.

Also, thank you about mentioning steemboard. I didn't know about that and I like unlocking achievements :)

Hi @missladybug , I am surprised to read that some people are following 600000 accounts. I highly doubt they are real accounts !! That's insane indeed !! It is always good to follow people who are actually making a contribution .. But I feel, more followers you have, more real accounts will follow you and your reputation will increase.. there is no harm in it. Just concentrate on creating good content. I think youre right and a 51 rep is WoW I only have some additional things for you. The introductionpost is only When you enter the steemisfere and only once. Preferbly with a sign to verifi its you. I miss the Steemify app from @blockbrothers and I miss the possibility off voting for your witness. Discord is also missing those are really important for newbies. There is a trial for Android comment in @blockbrothers and say you want to test for Android. Its really the app that makes Steemit easy. Let me know if it you got an answer. Otherwise I have another possibility.
And the Partiko app is that an option?
Its for posting , Steemify is for the control over your account and followers both really lifesavers

By no doubt this is a great article for newbies. Steemit works in mysterious ways as I have always said.I have seen many people getting famous writing some stupid stuffs.Most of the newbies don't read before voting for a post.I am tired of seeing comments such as good,great,nice articles etc.

I don't post a comment like that.It is because I know that posting those types of comments are useless.I also never vote for a bad articles.We should use our voting power rationally.Voting without consideration is ruining this platform.

Anyway I believe no matter whatever you say,most of the people will never pay attention to you and will never learn.What I have learned by being here is that: "There is no way to predict what makes you successful in this platform,many people get famous within a small time by writing stupid contents and many people write great articles but nobody notice them".

So I think for a newbie the most important is to build a strong network with the other bloggers in order to get noticed and become successful.It is because without network you won't be able to do very good,no matter how much effort you make for writing great contents here.
