Upcycling at 2000m altitude.

Thoughts and reflections while upcycling clothes on a mountain peak.

I am sick of caring pieces of clothing around with me that I do not even wear.

Is it possible to still not wear all your clothes, even if you only got a handful with you?
Yes.
How come we always have too many clothes?

Since weeks I am cycling around and haven’t touched a few items in my bag.

One are leftovers of a top I upcycled recently. I also carry this golden top with me, hopelessly waiting for the occasion to wear it, because I love it too much to get rid of it. Another are leggings I wanted to upcycle and then changed my mind a few times, weather I should keep them as they are or still alter them.

The newest standpoint is to cut them apart.

So, I unpack my sewing gears, or I should call them upcycling gears at that stage, because there isn’t that much sewing going on, at 2000m high in the French Alps.

I start with the off cuts.

A bit of unpicking.

Because I wanted to keep those little buttons for later.

From time to time, I do buy some fast-fashion clothes second hand. Because even though the quality is mostly bad or even worst, the colours and shapes aren’t always that bad. And from time to time, I do find them quite fun.
Nevertheless, every time I am taking apart fast-fashion clothing I am shocked or at least surprised about the cheap workmanship.

Meanwhile this one wasn’t even the worst. I have seen.

And because I still have to go further up with my luggage, I wont keep those scraps. I guess that fast-fashion-body already had a much longer life and received much more affection than foreseen for it.

In that matter I wont feel bad to throw them away.

Onwards to the leggings.

In the end they are a bit to small. I do not wear them.
So why not follow my own good advice and turn them into a top.

Maybe even a two piece.

I am not sure where that is coming from, but everytime I am working on a new project, I find it ridiculously exciting to think of a second matching piece or accessoire.
It is almost as if I am having more fun thinking and inventing the combination, than each piece for itself.
But one after the other.

I’ll see how far I get with the top, before I plan the rest.

The old tag has to go.

Therefore, some unpicking the waist instead of cutting it.

Because I am not only impatient but also a perfectionist...

...therefore I hope you can imagine how I run around in lush green mountain fields. Covered in more wild flowers then I could ever name or remember. Dressed in a two piece equally covered in flowers. And if I want to exaggerate some more I'll make a flower wreath for my hair.

But thats where patience enters the game.

Thank you all for stopping by, and have a very lovely week!

All photos and words are mine, taken and written by me.

Hey :) It's great that once again you can take some sewing to pass your time on the trip. I also have a lot of clothes that I don't wear and I feel sorry to throw them away or give them away, but in the end I end up thinking "what do they add to my life?, "How long have I not worn them?" and that way it's easier to say goodbye to them. Same there are still a few to give them new life so they are waiting for their second or third chance 😅.

I look forward to seeing what a nice piece of clothing all of this is going to turn into :) Greetings and have a nice walk ❤️.

Aaah yes for sure as soon as you start asking what value they actually add to your life by waiting there it gets way easier to give them away!!:)
Thank you for stopping by, and have a good day too😊💕

I LOVE your high altitude photos and activity... makes me think of my sewing travels, and what a beautiful photography book it would make... I made a handmade book of drawings of my travels, from Scotland to Slovenia by bike, ferry, train. It was a really nice experience. I love your unique take on it, @kesityu.fashion - where you are thinking and feeling so deeply around your condensed travel-wardrobe. Your images remind me of being high in the mountains too, when I came to Italy with my car, possessions and cat, the first time... stopping with a flask high up in the Alps... looking down at the valleys as if from an aeroplane... The freshness of the air soooo crystal perfection. Thank you for sharing this!

Every time you ask 'how many items of clothing do we really need?' I think to myself, 'there is no top limit, for me!!' BUT yes, I am certainly honing my skills to have more perfect items which are beautiful functional AND comfortable, so that they are more likely to be worn. I do need different kinds of clothing and very specific things for specific seasons, too. Only very comfortable and rubber-soled shoes, for example, because all the centuries-worn marble steps in the medieval quarter are very slippy winter and summer. Work and play, fun and walking, social armour and self-expression... there's so much I haven't expressed yet! :-D

Love this!! I am sure it is a great piece to look at from time to time! (at the moment I am not really drawing at all, but did so before on travels and I LOVE that way of remembering it) By making though I find that all those memories go into the object, but then most of the time you don't really keep it until the end (at least me) because you constantly alter all your belongings while moving...
The alps, are one of my favourite places, for sure! And the air, I feel like I can drink it😊

I feel you on that second part! I guess I am constantly switching between "how much do I really need?" and "I want to express every of my moods through the perfect clothing item"😅 But in general always working towards combining comfortable-beautiful-functional...
Thank you for those lovely words💕

Needlework without patience is almost impossible, I love that flowery fabric and can't wait to see I'm what you upcycle it into, I'm sure it's going to look great, a top it is right?

True true, patience is always a needed ingredient!
Yes a top, at least:)

This whole post feels super peaceful <3 love it!

Thank you💜 (there was a lot of peace around, that must have have an effect on me:))

Be careful of bee's, they might get confused 😂

...as long as they just visit, they are welcome🐝

Wow 2000m altitude! I've never done needlework on that hight 😁 Enjoy & take care. I look forward to seeing the finished piece!

Me either😅
Thank you, I will!😊

I am pretty jealous of this amazing view @kesityu.fashion!
I am sure that this beautiful landscape and its vibe will inspire you to create something unique! Have a great time and take care😊

The view was great, no doubt!! And surely very inspiring too😊
Thank you!!

Oh my, I can imagine, but I think patience and dedication work hand in hand for fashion designers.

I will be checking out to see the result of this project hehe.

That reminds me of my seam ripper, I can't even find mine again😃.

For sure, can't really leave those two away if you want some decent results!
It will be my pleasure:)

That reminds me of my seam ripper, I can't even find mine again😃.

...is that a good sign?

My sister uses it with me, so I think she kept it somewhere.. Not sure that's a good sign right?

Aha, the siblings...😅

Omg those colors. Keep following your good advice. Everthing needs a second chance, You are great, so, I'm sure would be the right result. That's what I tell myself anytime I decide to transfor trousers into dress 💥

Thank you for those lovely words!!😊
