I have used about 3 chargers for my Samsung A72 in one year, which isn't really who I am. I'm always careful with the charger, I never leave them stuck in the socket after charging in fact, to protect my charger, I read so much stuff online and before now, I've been using one charger for two to three years.
It's just painful that I've used three chargers now for the present Samsung device I'm using. How did this happen? I am a fan of getting a good charger in the box. That is a charger that was meant for a phone. It was one of the reasons why I choose to buy the galaxy A72 rather than the galaxy A53. The former had a good charger in the box, while the latter didn't.
The Nigerian market saturated with crappy products
You might have to look intentionally to buy quality
Fake chargers are 70% more than original chargers and the funny thing is that people sell fake chargers for the price of original ones. I didn't want to go through this, so I bought a phone with a charger, but two months into usage, I had this electric surge that affected my power situation and damaged the charger.
This hadn't happened to me before and I was pissed, but I decided to shop for another charger, this time I went with a friend, and we got a good charger with a super fast charge. I used it for 3 months and slightly dropped the charger one day and that was the end.
Turned out that packaging isn't durability
It's a Nigerian thing
It turned out the charger was good but it wasn't built to resist even the smallest of drops. It was quite expensive, but I had to break the bank to buy another one. This time I decided to shop online for another one. Shopping online is very expensive, but sometimes people do so to shop to their specifications.
It was quite expensive, but after so many searches, I got the one I thought looked like my first charger, the specs were the same and I thought... wow. Although this one was expensive as well, I decided I didn't want to buy anything degrading to my phone's battery. But these online vendors are criminals. They manage to sell good packaging with terrible products.
What I ordered wasn't really what I got.
You know....
I expected to get a super fast adaptive charge for $12, rather I got an ordinary charger, and it read on the description that it was a super fast charger. However, I started using it that way. The charger felt too lightweight it was all shaky after about one week of use, I probably didn't pay attention.
It was a bad charger, but the mistake I made was going not going to buy this charger myself. I was going to spend close to $18 plus the transportation fee, I didn't want that extra stress of parading the market, but in a bid not to incur unnecessary stress as well as expenses, I decided to go for the shopping option. This isn't my first time shopping though.

They cost about $25 and I only used them for 6 months
But I have come to learn that when shopping, it's important not to shop what you expect to work
For example
......shopping for a phone in an online store is a very big mistake. Apart from the ridiculous price, you might get different specifications other than the one your wanted, apart from that, you might get a refurbished device and the return policy might be tricky.
However, when you shop for something like a phone's casing, it wouldn't be bad to shop online. After 7 years of actually shopping online in Nigeria, I have come to understand that online shopping is more packaging and less quality. They tailor their products to wealthy audiences, but I'm pleased to say, this would be the last time I'll be shopping for anything online.
Apple Have influence The Market With Their Eco-friendly Ideology
Because after 3 months, my charger of over 12$ has stopped working and I'm livid at the moment. I think mobile phone brands these days will play a role in the continuation of this.
For example, I think iPhones stopped getting chargers inside the box starting from iPhone 12 and until now I cannot understand how not including a charger in a box is eco-friendly if one's inevitably going to still proceed to the market to still buy another charger. The new generation devices will probably not get any chargers in the future, given how the trends are going.
A Lesson Learned Is Money Wasted
This would give rise to more fake chargers as the accessibility to the original factory chargers would be hoarded by marketers looking to make some big bucks off people. It's been a sad experience, another charger gone with all that money spent.
I'll be carefully hunting for a new one in the coming week, and this time I'll target a charger than will be durable, fast, and good enough. It turns out that when we don't pay attention to spending wisely because might end up spending excessively. Unplanned expenses are the ones that break people the most.

It's so sad you got something different from what you expected, that has happened to me twice now especially on jumia, you know there are so many people selling through Jumia and if you end up transacting business with those set of people, be rest assured you are getting junks.
Last two years I received a package from MTN which was through Jumia and I got exactly what they promised me and it was just so nice but then, when I tried ordering my own I was seeing something different and it was obvious that I wasn't transacting directly with Jumia and I think that's the problem these online businesses suffer.
I hardly feel satisfied from buying anything online and I've also resolved I won't be getting anything online at least for the main time. Let's just hope you get to see the right charger this time. I think @moremoney28 can give you a little advice? Maybe?, hehehe.
Have a fabulous weekend JJ 🥰
I got them on jumia, but I'm also promising myself that I'll never shop on jumia again. I wasted all that money and yet no quality. Although, it's the distributor like you've said and not the jumia itself, since that's the main company.
The charger was scarce and that's why I resorted to buying it online you know, and going far distances to get it wasn't something I wanted to do.

I can imagine how stressful it would be going to look for the charger yourself especially without guidance, hehe. Some of these distributors are selling their own products not really that of Jumia and that's where the main problem comes from.
Well, I think you should stress yourself this time to go look for a shop to get the charger, that way you can easily hold someone responsible, lol. $25 is not small money sha 😏
@josediccus i understand you perfectly because this is what I'm doing anyways not just online but everywhere but then we still have some people to trust, i always tell my customers the capacity of any charger or phone they might want to get from me i do this to avoid story that touches the heart. Althou we have alot of fake chargers but then there are still some original chargers and it's also depends on how you are managing the charger. My advice is that you can walk to any store and beg the seller very well before you buy it to give you the best charger and then i can still recommend to you.
It's bad seeing someone passing through this kind of stress because of chargers and i hope you get over it. @hopestylist thanks for the tag dear 🙂 I've been offline because i travelled but I'm back now.
It's totally fine, I'm happy you still stopped by after all, hehe. I hope he gets to read this though, I think he must have gotten a new charger already, maybe I'm not sure.
But I'm sure this will help him in case of next time, that's if there will be any, hehe.
Hope you are doing well sha?
Sorry for your bad purchase. When I shop online, I read first the reviews and only buy in shops that has good rating. 4.8 of 5 would be my standard. I also look at how much they sold. These are my basis before clicking that checkout button. I don't know how it is in your country but in the Philippines, online shopping platforms has device ways to make shopping online better.
Well, the website where I shop, doesn't have spacing for reviews, I guess they deliberately did this because they know they'll be selling bad products. I think I understand what you mean. But I guess a lot of us fall for good packaging and don't know the product might come out really bad..
It sucks to hear that it happened to you. I have heard about power surges and how they can be bad for your appliances but I didn't expect that to also include chargers. Shopping online is either a hit or miss so I prefer buying from a good store or going in person.

Buying physical comes with it's own constraints, most of those physical stores are aiming to Cheat one. plus finding the right charger with the right specs is almost impossible. Power surges over here destroys chargers.

Sometimes it is always a bad idea to shop online but sometimes the only place to get what we desired is online. I only shop online when things I want to get are not common in the Nigeria market

This is true but sometimes we mostly choose to shop online too because of the convinience though. However, I think it's fraud that these guys would choose to keep decieving people with fake products.
Sorry you had such a bad purchase. These things unfortunately happen sometimes.
These little things can sometimes make us forget the bigger picture; I know it happens to me as well. Hope things have been going better for you overall and continue to improve! 😊
thank you for helping me get started on hive, freecompliments
You're very welcome! Glad to have you here. 😊
Just wish my referral actually worked. That poor IP thing is a pain in the 🍑!
I had a bad purchase twice and I didn't learn my lesson. This was the most ridiculous of it all, I didn't learn my lesson at all. But I like to think it makes us improve all together.

Hopefully there's no third time... but if there is, then as the saying goes, "third time's the charm!" 😉
That's what I also experience from shopping online. The product is illusionary and doesn't often match the reality. It's a sneaky tool that marketers use to boost the aesthetics by giving it the perception that it's a high quality product. I can't count the number if times I felt for it in my early days of online shopping. Frustration always accompany me when a product is delivered.
I think sometimes I attribute this to the quality of of packaging and photography. It's actually the last time I'll shop online for anything gadgets whatsoever. It's fraudulent to decieve people in such manners

Thanks a million @leogrowth, I haven't been able to reply this because of my shitty network. I appreciate the decentralized curation and the curator and I'll be looking into that contest as well .
Shopping for mobile device' accessories can be a tiring process as you never know what to expect, but I have learned something so far as a techy person. By the way, it is common knowledge. Popular brands have the most fake and counterfeit products as cheap Chinese manufacturers try to piggyback on their successes and produce cheap ripoffs. This is why it is very difficult to get a Samsung or iPhone charger that is not counterfeited from anywhere other than their respective official stores.
For me, I have come to a simple conclusion of going for accessory brands rather than phone brands. For example, instead of getting a type C charger and cable branded Samsung from an online store, e.g., Jumia, I will go for an Anker, Oraimo, New Age, or even a Chupez type C charger. In my experience they have proved to be more reliable while being more affordable (though Anker products are quite pricey).
These accessory brands are not immune to counterfeiting, and the best way to get the originals, from what I have learned, is by going in person. Most accessory shops would stock both the fakes and the originals and sell both in one location. Most often, they will present you with the fake when you come in (fakes have higher profit margins), but if you can insist that you need the original they would usually go back and bring the original (you have to act as if you know its fake in the first place). If what they have presented is the original, they are likely to present you with the fake so that you can make comparisons.
For my favourite accessory brand so far, Oraimo, which now has a lot of deepfakes everywhere, they have a new approach, in which they demand that only their original products are on display in their specially provided showcase (which is usually a tall, black and green, counter-like construction with 2 Face on it), and they usually send inspectors to ensure that retailers are compliant.
Ah! It is already very long, oh! I take a break!
This hurt so much especially when you need the money for something else, then something happen and you don't have a choice but to attend to it urgently.
I have never ordered anything online because of so many bad reviews from people I know very well. There was a friend who ordered a bag from Jumia and when it was delivered, it was the opposite of what she expected to get. Thank God she returned immediately and her money was returned back to her. I can't stress myself doing that, so I rather not cross my lane at all.
I am always scared of getting phone charger because the truth is that I don't know original from fake ones. This is why I am always careful using my follow come charger and I have been using this present one for a year and 8 months already. I had to buy a guard which prevent my gadgets even if the power goes wrong.
I hope you find a durable and quality charger for your phone because it's not easy spending unnecessary especially on things that do not last to your satisfaction.
I mostly decide to buy online because my thought is that they'll deliver quality, but I've come to realize that what these guys do is to sell fake stuff for the price of the original one. This is why it's mostly difficult for me to buy anything online again. I used to be like you, taking care of my charger no matter what. But my follow come charger got burnt one day and while charging, it rarely happens to me and it actually hurt a lot though. So this is why I've been spending so much on chargers lately.
