RE: Weekend-engagement topic week 25: Your phone photo

in Weekend Experiences3 years ago

You see, this is why I wake up each morning, clap my hands and say, don't get into an EMA bout with Rebecca today. Just as a reminder to myself in case I forget (I'm 50 you know) and decide to challenge you. I'm not keen to end up on a plate.

I saw a doco (documentary) a week or so ago that was on Canada and included some elk...Nice sort of animal I'd say, and yeah, amazing how big they are. I'd guess an elk would probably go a long way towards providing enough for two people through a winter? (With supplements added of course.)

I'd really like to try some one day...Planning to come up your way so I think I'll have the chance.

P.s. Picking off the fella's plate huh? Them's fightin' words in my household...(I always lose the fight though...Faith is adept at EMA and uses tactics that are somewhat underhanded like tickling.)

Sort:

In our household I saved his honor. Albertans pride themselves in our meat producing and eating abilities. He was looking defeated and with permission I ate piece by piece until he was down to the last piece and could claim victory without forfeiting the ability to move. Besides leftover microwaved elk would have been a dishonor to the meat as well.

If you ever come to the rockies you will def get to try it. It's one of our traditional meats and served in a fair amount of eateries even more popular than venison, it's expensive but worth it.

Yeah they are pretty nice looking indeed. They do not scare easy either so it's easy to take pics of them. Sometimes they travel in large herds (like 50 +) especially in the fall, that's pretty cool to see too. Here is another nice photo of an elk in the rockies I took. His name is pasta sauce with elk, buffalo, boar and something else I forgot about sausage.

@silvergingerman knows if he tries to tickle me I will knock him TFO...lol Tickling isn't fair fighting!

This is why I like you so much, your Australian sense of humour! Lol.

I'm pleased also that you had plate-picking permissions, it may have ended with a fork in the back of the hand otherwise. Legit looking dish above; What's not to like? I'd eat it...And I'd share it with you if your bring your plate-picking permit along of course.

Ohhhhh. And then there's Buffalo. You really are playing unfair here.

Eaten some buffalo in my day, from the Top End. (Darwin). Good tucker, the buffalo.

Buffalo is good but American bison is delicious and nice and lean. Makes for some really good burgers and steaks!

What would be cool if we could all have a catch-up where we bring foods from our own countries and share it trying all the different types. I'm sure there'd be something I didn't want to eat, but mostly I'd be on it like a fat kid on cake! I've heard bison is good. I'll need to give it a crack someday, but will have to do so there as, like elk, it's not something I've seen here.

Hell yeah that would be cool to have our local cuisine at a big party. I don't know what I would bring if I was limited but if unlimited, Vermont maple syrup, clam chowder, Boston creme donuts, and Boston baked beans are a few of the great things I can think of!

Yes!!! It is true!

My neighbor (we have a summer house on the Canadian border) made bear sausage and didn't tell me what it was until I told him how delicious it was. Not sure I would have put it in my mouth know what it was. :)

Honestly. Best sausage ever.

Yeah I heard that bear was really good. I think I had it once but it was when I was a lot younger so I don't remember much. I've heard that bear tastes like a combination of pork and beef, not sure how accurate it is but I would try it!

As long as it's not bugs, I would try almost anything lol

I get stabby-stabby with the forky-forky too without permission! We have this understanding, if one cannot finish a meal it's fair game from that point, goes both ways...So rare I finish his plate, it's usually the other way around.

Lol, Albertans and Australians are very much alike.

#albertaustralian? Is that a new nationality? Should we create a new country? Methinks yes.

Albertaustralia Constitution

  1. No eating off someone else's plate without plate-picking permit clearly displayed.
  2. No EMA bouts without prior permission from the President and Presidentette (These high offices are held by you and I of course.)

We can work on the rest over a brew...

🙂

Methinks that's an excellent idea, Albertaustralia sounds like a dinosaur name! Bad ass. lol. Our national flag can be 2 headbutting elk. I like the constitution so far. Anything else added to the constitution should be done under the influence and over meat eating :p

We can add kangaroo fights as an opening act to EMA

Also...Presidette is less of a mouthful!

national flag can be 2 headbutting elk

On a quartered field of white (snow) green (forest), red (Aussie sunset) and blue (Aussie sky).

I agree, the constitution needs to be created over many food (meat of course) and booze sessions...Much bullshit must be spoken.

Also, Presidette...I concur...See? You were born to lead!

I like that, like the 4 directions! The sky is pretty blue here too so it fits for both!

Albertalians sounds like a pretty great group of people!

They have good leadership in @ladybug146 and myself...The President and Presidette of the land...Rule with an iron fist is our ethos and if people don't tow the line...It's off to the pits with them (The EMA fighting pits). Few ever return and those that do are compliant from that moment on. 😂

Damn that dish looks better than the first one! One hell of a lot of delicious looking stuff in your household, I would arrive wearing a belt and leave wearing sweatpants after all that! Lol

I was going to say, the strechier the pants the better...just come in PJ's! You wont need a belt! They were both pretty delish! We have some excellent cuisine here, I didn't make it a restaurant did but it wouldn't be hard to recreate.
