Conundrum Of Life
Number of years have passed yet I feel I have much to learn, how can it be, reaching age of twenty (you are smarty pants itself), you thought sixty to be ancient brimming with wisdom?
Conundrum is being at an age feeling stranded in the middle of nowhere without a phone; What do I require to unlearn or learn again?
Even small midges have purpose learning a life cycle, yet we humans so knowledgeable, know little to nothing about swarms of them.
Yes we walk through swarms of them, some have nasty bites, yet what do we really know, they normally close to water or found in damp sand, some may carry diseases, still draw a blank not knowing the purpose.
Young we are taught to watch for cars, look where you walk, yikes snakes or spiders, what about these little things that can be nasty. Many walkers/hikers will confirm they bite, what did you do? I run through any swarm as quickly as possible, more a waddle now! Some places around the world have massive swarms what then?
So what I am tryijng to convey is life is a conundrum, welcome to puzzle of humanity, we never obtain the full story no matter how much we think we know. Once midges become airborne fish and birds know to eat them!
One cannot unlearn what is learned, perhaps improve on what we learn, try seek more information, follow your 'gut or heart' whichever you prefer.
Don't beat yourself up, there is good and bad in everything, I have come to realize we are our own enemy, if small critters survive why can't we?
Age is a number, strive to learn everyday, carry on without criticizing, lesson I learned is, no one has walked in another persons shoes.

That's some really good insight; everything has it's place in the world, and the only reason we have "bad" is because we think about it. Nothing in nature is 'good' or 'bad', it just is.

Here we are these 'big' humans running from miniature tiny fly type insects, terrified of them getting up our nose, in our eyes, make us itch like crazy just thinking about it.
So true.
PS: the only thing I’m really terrified of is MOTHS. They fly straight at you, if you swat them, without thinking, they turn to dust before your eyes. AND, AND YOU’VE KILKED AN INNOCENT INSECT. Oh,JEEZ

I once fled for my life from West Scotland after a run in with midges. I thought going camping in the Scottish summer was a good idea. I got into my car and drove 6 hours until I found a midge free spot...
They are international, here we are fleeing from them ha ha, you know the feeling!
Pesky little things are everywhere 🤣🤣
Aren't they just, you hear of people trying to hike in summer up North being miserable, wish for winds to arrive, or climb to altitude to try escape.

Only a few times in my life I have seen such swarms of midges, but one of them is enough to keep you awake all night long, or better said keep my wife awake, because they seem to dislike my blood somehow ... or hers tastes better 😋
...if small critters survive why can't we? I think because they "live" and we want more and even more than only living our life.

Poor wife I feel for her, my blood is obviously desired since they carry me away with/without bug spray, then I itch for a week even thinking about it.

Oh I was thinking of you visiting Scotland where the midges come out in big swarms I hear, when we traveled some regions the bites were way worse than other places....
A fan blowing over a bed normally helps keep the little buggers off then wife can sleep in summer months too.
I think our mosquitos are wino's they love my blood, cheap..., yes they are cheap stealing from me directly!

I have heard of these midget swarms in Scotland and seen in videos of photographers that they are really bad there.
Yes, such a fan could help, but we don't like these having running during the night - too loud 😉

Hahahah, I remember thinking that 60 was older than Methuselah too. So funny now! Actually I thought 40 something was pretty old too.

Perhaps space suit will keep us happy when they are around, then we will get hot! Aren't we silly most days looking back in hindsight.
Yes maybe a space suit would help but no midgets here right now or they would be frozen to a snowbank. 😆 🥶
One could have many regrets but I think we all did the best we could with what we knew at the time. Seems though I still have a lot to learn. 🙃
Cold stops them in their tracks, sadly we never get that cold and have some arrive all year round, enjoy that snow on my behalf.
Never learn everything, quite content with that now, still learn daily 😌
So deep....i guess life is a teacher , the more we live the more we learn..
Ha ha when we think we know we still question, are we right or is there more, perhaps we are not right after all.

if birds and fish know what to do with midges... it's pure protein, we need to learn how to catch them and cook them deliciously... am I crazy... or not? :-)))
Midges soup, perhaps something someone will invent, after all bird nest soup is apparently tasty. Crazy or not there are plenty of them!
