Hello Hivers!

This is the continuation of my 3D design Chess Pieces. Yesterday, I catered the pawn(indicated in the link above) design, the simplest among all pieces. Today, I am featuring my 3D design for the Rook or sometimes called the Tower or Castle.

On Chess game, each player starts with two rooks in a game. Rooks can move at maximum blocks across the board. It can only move horizontally and vertically and captures other pieces at the same manner. One of the key move of rook on chess is the castling or from what I heard before the in-rook. Castling is a 1-time move of a rook at starting position where it can swap positions from the King or jumps across each other in to a specific block.


Just like the pawn which I find the most easy one to design, rook is somewhat the same. The only thing that differs is how you design its crown or head.

So as my initial step, I outlined the half structure of the rook and estimates its width, its length(taller than the pawn) and its head. Make sure to have a desired look of the rook. Similar to a tower or castle post.

In this part I made the head of the rook with the same measurement with my initial figure above. Then placed it properly to the main body. You should work with the right structure or parts of your rook to achieve a better look.

Then I applied color and I'm done! The chess piece rook.
